Bailing out basements is more like it, Cookiemonster. I hate to look at my grass...

I could only cut part of my yard yesterday because the grass was so darned thick and tall.

To quote Cleveland (the black guy) from Family Guy,

 "It was naaasty."

(Talking to myself here)

Well, thanks to this morning's rainstorm and deluge, looks like I'll have to start cutting all over again from scratch. Tomorrow. Or maybe Monday, if I feel like it.

Ain't life grand?

Cynic, a month from now you'll be able to put the mower away till Sept. If not, the mold removal business will be booming through the summer.
Probably the only one, the ways things are going.

I know the dehumidifier has been running just about non-stop in our basement the past few weeks. The pleasant drone of the motor helps me sleep at nite.

Yeah, nothing more soothing than the drone of a dehumidifier. The light pitter patter of rain on the roof is a close second.
 We'll sleep well tonight.

Unless the faucet in the bathroom starts to drip.

Yeah, I hate when that happens........just turn off the main water valve, sleep through the night, and deal with it later................

Cynic: I got my yard mowed Thursday night before the rain. Now I need to get rid of those ugly grubs before they get hungry for my grass roots. Boy, I'm glad that the Mrs and I live on a hill. The rain just goes right down the road and to the creek.

I did manage to get it all cut yesterday. It literally grew two inches between last Wednesday and yesterday afternoon.

Now I have little grass trails about 3 inches wide all throughout the yard from where the mulcher couldn't handle all the grass and spit it out underneath the mower.

That's OK - it can stay there until next time and then the mulcher will get it. If it doesn't rain, that is.

What is good to kill ants ? I think they are trying to take the house over.

Cynic
The Mrs. does the lawn so I don't worry about that.

Cynic: The Mrs did the lawn many a time in the years past but, now that I got a new JD she doesn't know how to use it. That is my little place of tranquility with the cigar.... if you know what I mean? He He!

Mar -

There are 2 very good products that take care of ants and other household insects (anteaters being the best).

The first is "Home Defense." It comes pre-mixed in a gallon jug with pump sprayer attached. Costs about $15 at Lowes & Homey Depot.

The other is made by Bayer, comes in a blue bottle, and kills even carpenter ants and termites. Costs about $10, but you mix 2 tablespoons of the stuff with 1 gallon of water and spray it around the outside of your house, along the foundation. Gotta buy a sprayer with that one, though.

The ants are bothersome right now because their burrows are flooded and they have no where else to go. Once the groud water subsides they'll go back underground.

(The Home Defense is the easiest to use)

LMAO! It would be awesome to see a flock/herd/murder/whatever large groups of anteaters are called just wandering around someone's yard.

Surprisingly, an aneater's favorite meal is a nest of termites.

Saw a show about them on the Discovery Channel one night - they have nasty looking bear claws and can really rip apart a log to get dinner.
