I read on the Gettysburg board that the National Park Service is getting silly with people not wearing their seat belts while driving the roads in the park.
Be careful if you go out there = ya don't need a ticket.
Here's the link: http://boroughvent.proboards.com/ It on the first page under the "Gettysburg Forum" section, about halfway down the page under the heading "Watch yer backs on the battlefield."
Warning - the folks in Gettysburg are a lot looser with their language (as in profane).

Prayers go out to Moore, OK. I cannot imagine, honestly I do not want to imagine, how those parents of the school children feel. I wish the news would not told us the kids and teachers were trapped and drowned in a school basement. Ideally it was not true. That it was actually painless and quick. None suffered and are in heaven. Just generic news, like "some older and younger people died, close to 100." That is all we need.
Where is common decency at? But that is why scouting is slowly fading over the years. Then people say, "it was a sense of community and family when I was young. Why did it change?" Well, I could get on the soap box about it, but I will refrain from yelling at the liberal agenda and "I am only out to get mine" mindset.

I agree 100% with Cap. Although, I don't just blame EPA, DEP, etc....I blame the Boro for poor planning and now we the residents have to pay for it. This mandate was known for years.

cynic - There's no one, not even the most persuasive person alive, who could sell me that a pint of urine, crap, oil, acid, paint, you name it, poured into the ground in Garrett County, Franklin, Adams, Carroll, etc. would in any way shape or form make it to The Bay. Hell, it would have to pollute the local ground water before it could ever affect The Bay. And we all know that has rarely happened. The studies, reports, etc. that all these regulations and taxes are based on are as scientifically flawed and politically motivated as any you'll see. They ALL ignore the filtering properties of the earth and volumes of water itself. Not to mention the self degradation properties of the waste itself. The farther away from The Bay the less likely any pollutants can make it to much less "harm" The Bay. The Global Warming studies/reports are just as bad as far as not passing the common sense smell test. Political Correctness has killed common sense it seems. At least in far too many.
I now step down from my soapbox.....

Cap - I have a friend that lives in Garrett County, MD, not far from the MD/ WV state line. He has to pay the flush tax to "help clean up the bay," but he has a well and septic. Just wait until PA decides to enact the democrat brain storm, also known as the "rain tax." Right now its only the Balto-Wash metro counties (and Balto City) but I predict it will be state wide before O'Malley leaves office. Its rather ironic that the original 13 colonies that rebelled against England back in 1776 because of government control and taxation are now the 13 states that govern like King George did back then. I'd move to Saskatchewan but I can't spell it (there's always Moose Jaw if things get too bad here in the Socialist States of America). Edited 05-17-2013 12:24 PM

Re:14300 Thank you EPA, DEP, Chesapeake Bay Foundation etc. for effectively making Boroughs scores of miles away from THE BAY, Susquehanna and it's tributaries to conform the same clean water standards as those adjacent to the Susquehanna. Massive tax dollars at work to prevent the impossible. Edited 05-16-2013 07:19 PM

Just a heads up for all the readers here. Effective June 1, the water and sewer rates will increase. I don't know exactly what they will be because there are currently 2 scenarios that we will have to vote on. One is a two step increase, one now and one in 2015. The other just now. the other change that will be effective I can tell you about is that the minimum usage portion of your bill will now be based on 750 cu sq feet. Please be thinking about this increase as you begin your summer. Summer bills are always higher. Think about your water consumption before you wash your car, water your flowers, fill that pool. the new rates will be reflected in the October water bill so prepare now. You may want to consider establishing a monthly water allotment in your budgets. You can pay monthly on your bill. We will be discussing the implementation of this at the next meeting on May 28 so you may want to come to listen. This isn't a happy scenario for any of us. But, the mandated upgrades had to be done and fortunately, I can tell you that because of our excellent credit rating (as one of the factors) we have secured money to do this at the absolute best finance rates available. I'll answer any questions I can if you want to email me at cwestcott@littlestownboro.org. Just be prepared! Edited 05-16-2013 09:33 AM

Shed-guy - I wasn't knocking the quality of the sheds, they're actually well built. A little on the expensive side, I agree, but when you factor in the free delivery and set up, the quality of the materials used and the overall package, it isn't that bad of a deal.
Around this part of the world, the "built by the Amish" isn't that much of a factor. In fact, the salesman here played it down when we talked about the different shed models.
Once I get the site prepared, I'm definitely going to buy one - probably the 10x12 or 10x14 Madison.
Here's a question for you, Shed-guy...are the prices on the same exact model the same whether its in Littlestown, PA or Martinsburg, WV?

The sheds i sell are built by the Amish that own the company i work for. We are a larger shed company and we do have lots all over pa as well as West Virgina Ohio North Carolina New york and Connecticut. we do have to different lines of sheds Madison for the budget mind that is constricted with 2x3 with a one year warranty. For the best value our heavy duty line is 2x4 construction with 16"centers through out and has a 6 year warranty from Pine creek as well as Lifetime warranty on the shingles and vinyl siding our wood building have LP smart side with a 50 year warranty under our floors we do all treated lumber and the flooring we have is much better then the old plywood floors of pass years easy to sweep to. The real reason i put this on Here is to let the town Know that we are Helping to raise funds for the school sports teams. please stop by and support the school students that bring the town much Pride and Joy.
