The Winnick Family Foundation was formed by Gary Winnick and Karen Hank Freid in 1983. According to Gary Winnick, the Hebrew phrase tikkun olam -- which means repairing the world -- is the guiding principle behind every dollar donated to support programs as diverse as pioneering the latest in scientific health care research, to improving childrens literacy, to promoting religious tolerance.

Another project that is very personal to Gary Winnick is the new Arnold S. Winnick Student Center at Long Island Universitys C.W. Post Campus. A graduate of the University, Gary Winnick has provided his alma mater with donations totaling $11 million. The new Winnick Student Center is a spacious, modern cafeteria facility with dining and meeting rooms that are used by thousands of students, faculty members and staff. Winnick House, a historic 97-year-old mansion that was the former home of cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post and financial genius E.F. Hutton, was painstakingly restored to its original, pristine condition while making it handicapped accessible and eco-friendly. Gary Winnick also initiated the Winnick Family Foundation Scholarship Endowment, which to date has awarded grants to approximately 80 students.

Here is MY review of this fantastic little clock that I got from China. I was a little worried buying from a company that was all the way in China, www.LDUcompany.com but everything went real well and may new clock was delivered in less time then they had said. I had first emailed them a few times with a bunch of questions and they answered every one of my emails quickly. This clock is really neat, every time you flip it on a different side it changes what it tells you and lights up and starts flashing in different colors. It is built very well and it is not cheap junk. It takes triple A batteries (three of them). The alarm is a little soft for me because I am a hard sleeper so I will be using it in my living room and not in my bedroom. I bought the pink one cause I'm a true girl ;) Here is a link to the clocks section of the website http://www.liangdianup.com/clocks_1.htmIf they ask how you heard about them tell them Heather sent ya. Yeah like they would remember me.

National Transportation Safety Board recently divulged they had funded a project with the US auto makers for the past five years. The NTSB covertly funded a project whereby the auto makers were installing black boxes in four wheel drive pickup trucks in an effort to determine, in fatal accidents, the circumstances in the last 15 seconds before the crash.
They were surprised to find in 49 of the 50 states the last words of drivers in 61.2% of fatal crashes were, "Oh, Shit!"
Only the state of Texas was different, where 89.3% of the final words were, "Hey Y'all, hold my beer and watch this!"

Hi Do you have anything to categorize my group of sites, like say I have number of sites in groups like web design, java, php etc.. I would like to load just the group of sites instead of the whole list when I am working on a particular topic. Example I would like to load the list of sites from the Java group when I am working on Java or say list of Php sites when working on Php and so on.
It would be really nice if you have one.
thanks athi

I think it is not only silly but suicidal to advertise a Firefox tool bar extension that is not compatible with the latest release which has been out for at least a month. Are you implying that you have your entire focus on the trees with no one paying attention to the forest? Interesting strategy fellas.

Great idea! That's why we provide the NANOSITE interface. If you like reading a headline, or seeing weather -- you could build a NANOSITE that shows that to you and make it available to the other users in the system. Try reading our NANOSITE FAQ for some guidance on how to build one. Or maybe I'll do it and then post it here... < replied-to message removed by QT >

What browsers would you recommend we support in an import utility? We have discussed but delayed such implementation as it seems that support of each browser would have to have separate code.

Hi John,
Thanks for your response. Must admit I'd not thought of using that keyboard thingy to do the scrolling, you're right, it works! and I'm embarassed.
Another suggestion to make things better would be to allow the user to edit the web page title as some sites put things in the page title that are way to long or designed to appeal to search engines.
If I had to prioritise my list it would be:
1. Importing icons for sites 2. Editing site titles 3. Changing display order
Glad you liked the suggestions and the tool bar sounds nice. What are your plans for improving things. It would be lovely to see some of the above get implemented, it doesnt seem to be a huge amount of work to make things so much more pleasant to use.

Kate,
I have some good news and some bad news. The good news is that you can click and hold the arrow keys on your keyboard to quickly scan through your sites. The bad news is that you'll have to wait a little while to see some of the features you're talking about get into SiteShuffle. These are all great suggestions btw! We'll be releasing an IE (and maybe Firefox) toolbar very shortly, this will give you the ability to add links to your shuffle, and other stuff too.
Whether or not to provide a way too import favorites has been a topic of much debate here at SiteShuffle world headquarters. On one hand it would be a very simple way for folks to get up and running. On the other hand entering each site manually makes a mini editorial process take place. If I maintain my list so it's useful to me as a tool then the recommendations made will be relevant to me as my tastes and needs change over time.
Or we're just lazy. That's also a possibility :-)
Keep on Shuffling!

It could be so much more if there were a few more features, my wish list to make it more friendly/usable would be:
1. The ability to arrange the display order of the link list. 2. The ability to import an icon, many of the sites I visit dont seem to have icons and you so just end up with a long unintelligable stream of /// symbols in the linked list, it makes things hard to find. 3. Having to click/click/click takes ages, can it be make that click & hold on the left/right buttons scrolls through the list. 4. The ability to import my favourites list from IE. 5. An option to launch in a separate window. 6. To have a toolbar button to "Add to siteshuffle"
Its a very nice concept, a portable favourites manager but currently IMHO its a little annoying to use because of the missing things.

This may have been mentioned before (I have trouble wrapping my brain around what some of these posts are about) but I think this would work best as a slim toolbar at the top of the screen.
Just a long rotating line of icons with your rocketship in the middle and the arrows to either side, allowing the sites you're rolling through to appear in the lower pane of the screen.
That way I could just ride the "Fast Forward" button, browsing at my favorite sites as they roll by underneath.
Great concept, I look forward to updates. DataWhat Idiot

I'm one of the idiots the site is supposed to be for, but I'm still finding a few things annoying. For instance I can't see any way to delete duplicate and now unwanted subs. I though it would be paired with the Add button. Where is it please? ( if there's a delete there at all)

I've set cookies, but everytime I return I have to sign in before I can access my links. If I have to do that as my homepage and can't remain logged in between sessions it becomes a pain. Other than that its good fun - I'd like to see a 'get more suggestions' option as well for further recommendations beyond the few I get. Also featured it at http://thenextbigwebthing.com as well (FYI)

Seriously, you guys are really complicating the interface with a google search - that's all I thought the site was too. At the very least, provide a one paragraph explanation or howto for the "not signed in" version. I'd probably remove the google search too - try not to do so many things on the page.
I realize your target audience is "home page for idiots", but if you trimmed it down and made it clearer, it could be just a useful app for everyone to use. When you aim for nothing but the lowest common denominator, you end up dumbing everyone down.
Sorry if this sounds overly harsh, just wanted to be honest while my first impressions were fresh.

Yeah, I'm a bit mystified too. If, when you clicked on a link it launched it in a frame at the bottom (minimizing vertical space for the toolbar), then I could flip through my pages easily. Right now, all I get is a kinda awkward favorites list, and one that forgets recent additions if I go backward (Ajax).

Seriously, though. I followed a link from Reddit that had no information about what this site is. I pressed forward and back and it looks like there are some sites to choose from. I entered a search term and ended up at Google. So now, seriously. What does it do?
Maybe I'm being old-fashioned here, but it's traditional to have something prominent on your main page that says something like this:
"Simple and secure document collaboration and publishing." (Writely) "The best way to store, search, sort and share your photos." (Flickr, of course)
As it is, I can't figure it out. I mean, c'mon, get me excited, or at least curious, about whatever it is your site does. I want to be interested, but I'm just kinda confused.

I understand the concept behind the referrals at the bottom, but I'd really like to be able to shut that off. That's good space that could be used to show the rss feed from the page that's up in the queue.
And if you're going to an ad based model, please offer a subscription alternative. I will pay a fee to not see ads if I like your service. if ads are my only option, I tend to not continue using the service.

I noticed that if one adds a site which does not already have its own mini-logo in the URL address bar, you assign it one: "/////". Thus several sites in the shuffle rotation end up with the same logo and indistinguishable from one another. Each site in the shuffle needs either a way to upload+assign it a logo of its own, and/or a way to set prefs allowing for text display of site names. And not the site's own Meta tag SEO blather, but the site names and descriptions your users create themselves for their own reference.
Also: Once a user deletes out sites which are of no interest, they shoudln't appear again next time he logs in. To be of any use at all, the idea is to narrow down, not to have to start afresh re-winnowing out the exact same unwanted crap every time.

Truly good graphics. Now, the idea is excellent too, it's a nice way to have all my bookmarks together and the way you guys did the service is pretty much cool too. What I don't like is the yellow sign up box, I think it needs some improvement, or it needs to be in some other place; but that's just me.
Excellent job. I will print a T-Shirt with your face tomorrow first thing.

you guys should make one change. make the greybar a permanent thing. do one of those frames like google images, except keep it silver with the cool buttons. I'd give up some screenspace just so i can click thru them like a slideshow. i'm sure you could pull it off. at least make it an optional feature. that way i could have my slideshow bookmarks wherever i go. I'd never have to type more than this URL again. hell, even throw in some google adwords into the silver bar. as long as they aren't obnoxious i'd still use it. that way you have constant advertising too. just a thought.

Ok, some thoughts for the devs. Please take them in the constructive manner they are intended :-)
First, overall comments: I don't like it. I've got del.icio.us, and my bookmarks - I don't need this. I know this may not be what you are trying to achieve but for my money, this site would be great if you crossed it with a netvibes-esque RSS reader, with the ability to bookmark RSS feeds, not sites. Have the screen split 3 ways. Top 100% horizontal "frame" similar to current, but left and right arrows load RSS feed from next "bookmark" into "frame" two, a 80% of horizontal "frame" which loads the RSS feed and then the final 20% of horizontal "frame" can pull up "similar feeds" or an amazon-like "people who have that RSS feed also have:" suggestions set. Hell, you could even try importing the del.icio.us tags to help find similar sites, but now I'm just brainstorming.
Specifics: o Waaaaaay too busy, loads of links in columns just looks messy and gives a feeling of clutter and information overload. If it can't fit on a single scroll-free page, I don't want it.
o Patents pending: ORLY?
o Needs communitisation somehow.
Anyway, you asked for feedback ;-)

1) Please clear "Enter address or keyword(s)" when you click on the box so you don't have to select all first to write over it.
2) The home page is too busy. It'd be good if the number of recommendations was limited and there was a second page with all the recommendations.
Also echoing what others said about browser integration and private entries.

Thanks for the feedback. We are working on a browser toolbar that will do most of what you describe below. Additionally, we played with creating "theme" LinkLists like the one you describe below for media. We came up with ones for shopping, sports, pornography (not really), .... you get the picture. I liked these a lot and will drive a discussion to reintroduce them.

Im using it a lot ...find that I keep on wishing that it was actually permanently part of my browsing experience...is there a way to frame the sites i'm browsing below a very thin row of my siteshuffle scrollbar...so that after i'm finished with one site I can very quickly go to the next without hitting home...I would just click o the little icon for the next site or a little forwar and back buton and I'm there...especally when I'm blogging I find theres about ten sites I need to go to every day ...bloggers and journalists might me a good group to solicit feedback from they probably visit the same sites everyday...why dont you build a list of all the top tech writers in CA and US and send them a media kit..hmm forget the media kit but maybe something unique via email or live ...I'm rambling..nite

Yoli: We're thinking of letting users decide to keep their LinkLists private as an option during signup -- we'd like to inspire a spirit of homepage sharing and discovery, but we also understand that people need to track stuff that's private. If it makes the tool useful -- we'll consider it. Keep your eyes peeled for future releases.

Hi you guys; this is "Good John's" Mummy. Glad to see you're up and running, and if you want a REALLY tough test, it's me. I know very little about computer stuff, but I'm willing to learn. So I will be using this to organize info for our homebuilding project. Wish me luck!

Love the new filmstrip. Wish it worked on IE. Should also show web name when mousing over. Would be great if strip was centered (with links on right and left) by default. And finally, would be rockin' if favicons were positioned based on frequency of use.
