someone compaired youngsville to the northside and the fact that the police department must being doing something right bc it would be like the northside. so im saying is it lafayette police fault that the northside has a high crime rate, no. Youngsville is new, high dollar, etc etc. low income area's have higher crime rates. is there crime in youngsville, sure but it's mostly DWI's and Domestic Abuse. youngsville police only patrols one person and maybe 2 at night sometimes. lafayette sheriff's assist the police dept and is there back up and handle all major calls.

With all due respect a 200,000 dollar home is not considered HIGH DOLLAR these days. This is a typical family home being built in all areas of Lafayette Parish and surounding areas. It is impossible to compare Youngsvile to a certain area of Lafayette. This is not apples to apples or even close. The problems the Northside has have been there for many many years. Just my two cents worth!!

I think what he's saying is that there's more crime in impoverished areas, which is right. The other point is that Youngsville has different problems than the North side of Lafayette because of this. Also, the problems they do have are not high profile. Right? Many of the incidents that occur in Broussard are related to Hwy 90--the other accidents, arrests, etc. are mostly small-town stuff.

How about this one? A local non-profit organization asked for a large piece of equipment to be built by a small, local, family company in Youngsville. This local company asked for money for supplies only and offered his labor for FREE. Well, this piece of equipment normally would have sold for six-thousand dollars or probably even MORE, but the local company, out of the kindness of his heart, only asked for $1,800.00 for supplies. Now remember, FREE labor. The local company said he would try to have this equipment built by January of 2007. Time passed and the project was worked on as the company owner had the time. Needless, to say he had a family to feed and bills to pay and the project was put on the back burner. It would be worked on little by little, and he had help from time to time from others volunteering. Well, about six months went by and the project still wasn't completed. The equipment is almost done except for a few things that aren't complete. In the mean time this local company was and is struggling so much to get by, that he had to close his company and get a job to put food on the table. He got his phone cut off and even the electricity. Here is the exciting part. This local man was home on a Sunday afternoon and received a letter from the non-profit organization, written by a lawyer, stating that they were going to sue if the equipment wasn't built in a week and that the non-profit organization couldn't get in touch with the local man. (HIS PHONE WAS SHUT OFF B/C HE COULDN'T PAY THE BILL dummies!) Now let's remember that the local company volunteered his time for FREE!! Is this non-profit organization going to put food on this man's table, take care of his children and make sure the electricity is paid while he works day and night to build this project for FREE!!! Give me a break people. What is wrong with this picture?
