Yes! I love being a resident manager. In fact, it is the best job I have ever had and I have worked in many different jobs and for many years.
There is always an idiot or 2 - Judge Judy said that 1 in 3 people is an idiot, but I think it is closer to 2 out of 3! If we are lucky, the worst people will be renters and we can get them out. Effective 7/1/06, the Association can evict renters if the owner won't cooperate. That is good news for us. Keep going to all the meetings, MRMA (www.mrma.org), ARM, CAI, any trade show or pro show. This is where you learn other manager's experiences, and the new products available. And, usually, you get a lot of free stuff! See you there!

I want to find out more about MRMA and training throught his program. Does anyone have information regarding this issue?
I am a Resident Manager who has worked nine years as a condo manager. Now I am a manager for a townhouse complex and would love to get certified.
Being a Resident Manager takes the patience of Job and the ability to keep your mouth closed when you need to. Sometimes getting caught up in the gossip can get you burned. What are your thoughts?

Patience and Fortitude sir. Do not allow yourself to get caught up in gossip.
Your Board should allow you the time to get certified and perhaps pay your tuition.
  Good Luck!!!

Aloha
The MRMA meeting is today at the Waikiki Yacht Club starting t 11:30. The yacht club is at the end of Ala Moana Park, you turn in just before the bridge over the canal. It does not have a large sign and almost looks like part of the maintenance buildings for the park. You can also check www.MRMA.org. It has all the info. As far as the Accredited Resident Manager course, check www.irem.com. The next class will be in the fall.
Another web site, www.caihawaii.com for some seminars. The next one is May 19 on Employment Law. Your PM should be giving you the brochures.
It is worth your while to attend and the fees can be paid from petty cash.
Good luck!
