Hey Dan, I kvama has larryfest 2008 listed. Is there going to be anything going on to help out getting the grounds fixed up or any sort of fund raiser happening?

Hi, Dan.

Just a quick note to let you know that seven of your biggest fans are going to be in LaCrosse on December 15 and 16. Any chance you might be playing somewhere in the area on either of these nights?

If not, could you please go ahead and book something . . . .

Hope you and Mary are doing well.

Chris Silver is known throughout the country as a virtuoso flatpick guitar and mandolin player. He has played at theaters, clubs, festivals and workshops from coast to coast, Japan , and Europe . Formerly of the bands Stoney Lonesome and The Kate MacKenzie Band, Silver has taken Americana and bluegrass music to a new level with his original songs and arrangements that include traditional Appalachian influences along with slide guitar and intricate global rhythms.

Chris is surrounded by talented players who all have extensive musical resumes. The result is a band that creates tights arrangements and musical conversations covering the landscape of traditional roots music including bluegrass, old-time, jazz, blues, rock and roll, and a heavy dose of original tunes. The band is celebrating the release of their self-titled debut recording.

Larryfest release

Press release – for immediate release
Contacts: Gregg Hoffmann at 608-634-6469 or gregghof@aol.com or info@kvama.org.

La Farge – The first wave of bands for the 9th annual Larryfest blue grass festival has been announced and tickets are available for the Aug. 18-19 event.

This year’s Larryfest will feature String Ties, Combine, Special Consensus, Crossfire with Clay Hess, The In-Laws, Chris Silver Band, Molly Sternke, Heartsfield and RPM. More groups were expected to be announced in coming weeks.

Tickets are $30 in advance and $35 at the door. They are available via FAX or mail ordere for that can be downloaded from www.kvama.org and through several Kickapoo Valley area outlets.

Larryfest benefits the Kickapoo Valley Acoustic Music Association (KVAMA), which gives scholarships and holds an annual songwriters’ contest.

Concert organizers encourage artists/songwriters to submit their work to the Kickapoo Valley Acoustic Music Association songwriter contest. Cash scholarships, instruments and gear are awarded from various sponsors, such as Dave's Guitar in La Crosse, String Swing, and others.

The contest is open to all ages and genres of music so all are welcome. The deadline for entry is just a few weeks away. More information can be obtained at www.kvama.org.

Larryfest is held on a 60-acre parcel of land off 24 Valley Road, just off the Kickapoo Valley Reserve in Vernon County.

The man whose name is on the festival – Larry Sebranek – is not really a household word or a performer, but he and his brothers have organized the fest.
