HI Kristin, sorry&#A0;our conversation was interupted yesterday.&#A0; To talk after church you really need to go somewhere private if&#A0;the conversatin is such you dont want to be interrupted. Anyway I was going to tell you that I&#A0;experienced what you are about three years ago when my sister died.&#A0; I felt&#A0;like there was a block on my prayers and they were not going anywhere.&#A0; I talked to Pastor Rick about it and he prayed that&#A0;any block that Satan had put there would be lifted.&#A0; It took a while but I was able to get through it.&#A0; I really believe that fasting and reading the Bible are the only ways to prevent it as well as get through it.&#A0; I told you the fasting was one thing I am weak on but i want to start with a consistant fasting pattern that works for me ( i cant do it while I,m working) anyway there are some big issues in my famirly right now that I&#A0;my prayers will only be answered if I&#A0;fast as well as pray.&#A0; I have seen some answers already (Praise God) but i think if I am really sincere about giving everything to God I need to do this.&#A0; Hope this helps, lets keep in close touch about this. You are a special young lady.&#A0; God has much in&#A0;store for you love muriel --- On Fri, 8/8/08, QT - KRISTIN <qtopic-34-PSHP4ybEuAaGi@quicktopic.com> wrote:

thanks for the reply.&#A0; You have chosen very good sources to talk to. They are all soundly rooted in God and the Bible, but it would be great for us to talk. Even though I had been saved for many years it has only been in the last 10 years or so that I have really commited my life to God and want to be in the center of his will. So I am still learning and growing too. It just warms my heart to see young people who are commited to finding Gods direction in their life and seeking to learn more of him. I wasted many years that I cant get back but I'm determined not to waste any more.&#A0; So we will talk I love seeing young people grow and not be afraid to ask for advice and counsol from those who have traveled the road you are now on. We will talk soon muriel

Hi Kristin, I hope this message reaches you. Computer's are not my area of expertise so I never know if I'm doing right. Anyway so good to hear from you. Yes God does hear our prayers. If he didnt, he would not have commanded us to pray without ceasing. I am also learning alot about prayer. Pastor Rick has been teaching us alot about prayer, expecially about how fasting and prayer go together. Fasting is still something that I am not consistent with, but again through prayer and studying my Bible more I am learning. I think God expects us to be very specific in our prayer request also. Sometimes we may not know all the details but I try and pray for a specific need or a name if I know it. We definetly need to pray for ourselves. All of us have weaknesses in our lives and I commit these specifically to God. I tend to be a worrier and I have been really asking God to deliver me from worry and to leave my needs with him. Not that God does not expect us to take responsibilty for our actions and deal with our day to day situations but I am trying to ask God to help me know how to deal with specific issues and not to just worry about them. So if there are specific areas in your life that you are struggling with you need to voice them to the Lord and ask for direction in dealing with them Alot to discuss here but lets talk one on one sometime about this. You are a lovely young women that is growing in Christ and I will be praying for you that God will direct you as you search to know more of him. Love muriel

Cecil

I see what you mean Cecil. Some things are so obvious that we think the real treasure is hidden from us. God didn't hide his gift from us. We have overcomplicated the real message God has given. Love one another and Love our God. Just as the father of your story did not hold the true value of his rembrandt's at a higher esteem then the painting of his son.
The father new nothing could replace the love that he had for his son, just as our Lord values the love for his children. You and I

MY SON
This is great, take a moment to read it, it will make your day!

The ending will surprise you

Take my Son

A wealthy man and his son loved to collect rare works of art. They had everything in their collection, from Picasso to Raphael. They would often sit together and admire the great works of art.

When the Vietnam conflict broke out, the son went to war. He was very courageous and died in battle while rescuing another soldier. The father was notified and grieved deeply for his only son.

About a month later, just before Christmas, there was a knock at the door. A young man stood at the door with a large package in his hands.

He said, "Sir, you don't know me, but I am the soldier for whom your son gave his life. He saved many lives that day, and he was carrying me to safety when a bullet struck him in the heart and he died instantly. He often talked about you, and your love for art." The young man held out this package. "I know this isn't much. I'm not really a great artist, but I think your son would have wanted you to have this."

The father opened the package. It was a portrait of his son, painted by the young man. He stared in awe at the way the soldier had captured the personality of his son in the painting. The father was so drawn to the eyes that his own eyes welled up with tears. He thanked the young man and offered to pay him for the picture. "Oh, no sir, I could never repay what your son did for me. It's a gift."

The father hung the portrait over his mantle. Every time visitors came to his home he took them to see the portrait of his son before he showed them any of the other great works he had collected.

The man died a few months later. There was to be a great auction of his paintings Many influential people gathered, excited over seeing the great paintings and having an opportunity to purchase one for their collection.

On the platform sat the painting of the son The auctioneer pounded his gavel. "We will start the bidding with this picture of the son. Who will bid for this picture?"

There was silence.

Then a voice in the back of the room shouted, "We want to see the famous paintings. Skip this one."

But the auctioneer persisted. "Will somebody bid for this painting. Who will start the bidding? $100, $200?"

Another voice angrily. "We didn't come to see this painting. We came to see the Van Goghs, the Rembrandts. Get on with the real bids!"

But still the auctioneer continued. "The son! The son! Who'll take the son?"

Finally, a voice came from the very back of the room. It was the longtime gardener of the man and his son. "I'll give $10 for the painting." Being a poor man, it was all he could afford.

"We have $10, who will bid $20?"

"Give it to him for $10. Let's see the masters."

"$10 is the bid, won't someone bid $20?"

The crowd was becoming angry. They didn't want the picture of the son.

They wanted the more worthy investments for their collections.

The auctioneer pounded the gavel. "Going once, twice, SOLD for $10!"

A man sitting on the second row shouted, "Now let's get on with the collection!"

The auctioneer laid down his gavel. "I'm sorry, the auction is over."

"What about the paintings?"

"I am sorry. When I was called to conduct this auction, I was told of a secret stipulation in the will. I was not allowed to reveal that stipulation until this time. Only the painting of the son would be auctioned. Whoever bought that painting would inherit the entire estate, including the paintings.

The man who took the son gets everything!"

God gave His son 2,000 years ago to die on the cross. Much like the auctioneer, His message today is: "The son, the son, who'll take the son?"

Because, you see, whoever takes the Son gets everything.

FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON, WHO SO EVER BELIEVETH, SHALL HAVE ETERNAL LIFE...THAT'S LOVE

I want a more intimate relationship with Jesus, my Savior, a more sensitive spirit to hear the Holy Spirit, more discipline to receive power and strength to be obedient. The Bible says, "you will seek Me and find Me if you seek Me with all your heart." I know this is where it will come from; that's my goal, to seek Him with all my heart this year.
I want to seek out and do a better job of communicating with those of you who are key point people in the ministries of our church.
