Hey Jammers!
Here's the latest on decorating:
--I got 3 strings of lantern lights to work for the dessert table! Will need smaller lights to go with them. --Have floating candles ready to go for dessert table. Bringing 2 small vases for wildflowers.... --The lumineria bags are ready to go for the stairs on either side of the park. --I bought 6 Tiki torches. Kristi is bringing the citronella oil. --Thought the blown glass bulbs would look great in the tree by the stairs. Buddy will help with this. --Have banners, twirly things and some lights for stage. Could use more lights... --Have zip ties, wire, big clear tape--an assortment of hardware & tools. --I bought 20 tubes of glo-sticks (15 per tube) for $1 each for re-sell (& fun!) --I bought 10 bottles of bubbles for .50 cents each for re-sell. --I bought 14 sparkly flashing rings--but these are so cool I think the Jammers should have 1st choice--Ha!
Here's what we still need! Please everybody bring: --Lights! If everybody could bring what they have--we'll have a lot to choose from. --Scissors, big tape, zip ties, WIRE CUTTERS for zip ties, step ladders...throw it all in...Everything will go so much smoother & faster if we don't hafta share tools.... --Grab a handful of bright wildflowers if you see some (The vases are small) --Still trying to track down fire barrel.
Buddy will be helping with decorating--stage mainly...I'd like to sit in on Richard's workshop, but I will bring all the stuff down early--probably 1-1:30-ish.
If I forgot something, please post. Also, whoever will be making the final QT announcement for the JavaJam--might want to put BUG SPRAY on the list along with blankies & chairs & cash....:)
Festival! Anne

The fire barrell is in Suzanne Marie's lot accross from her house on Ward Street. They used it for a fire during their wedding reception.

No lumber, but I have a couple brand-new tarps. Not sure of dimensions, but pretty big. Will bring.
Easier to pull off Java Jam in a drought, huh?

Gosh, I forgot the most important request on supplies! We could really use some extra extension cords (all sizes) & some extra power strips too--that way we don't have to bother the stage crew for those things. As with the lights--we may not need them all, but it will be good to have them on hand.
We're playing Cumbia del Sol tomorrow which means Dance of the Sun! "...The sky will clear & we are all happy to dance--it's the dance of the sun..." (When we practice later, we will make it into a chant for good weather :) --tho if we have to be indoors, it'll still be a blast.)

Thanks to everyone who made Java Jam-A-Palooza possible and an event we enjoy year after year; it really does take a village:
Kristi and Julie for organizing and heading up t-shirt and musicians. Beth and JaVayne on heavenly desserts! Deborah Haynes and Anne Gross for coordinating and installing the art show. Richard Jenkins and Glenn Short for handling sound ALL DAY LONG. Michael Brotherton for being at every meeting and being ready to help. Kael Davis for handling the coffee and money. The dessert table women and the terrific community bakers. Beth Brotherton for fabulous poster design. Nancy Farmer, event emcee. And the set up crew: Anne and Buddy and their fabulous decorations, Sally(girl scout extraordinaire) and Harry Hempy, Rick for guarding the gear and our brand new stage tent, and all the other hands helping us put the park together: Josh, Bill M, Rob K, Mark M. and egad a few others I've likely forgotten.
Thank you Thank you to everyone--especially all the artists, writers and musicians who participated in our Celebration of the Arts!
And for those of you that missed the art show, we plan to have the Town Hall Open during the Pancake Breakfast on July 4th for a viewing.
Last, Congratulations to Contest Winners:
Visual Arts - Excellence Award to Emma Hardy and Free Spirit Award to Anna Fike.
Performing Arts - Judges's Choice - Joanna Rotkin and Bree Rodgers Dance "Small Moment of Sky" and Honorable Mention to Buddy Kihm for his original song "Receiving the River."

CALLING ALL JAMmers!!!
Musically speaking, WE NEED HELP this Saturday, July 4th!!
1. Assistants needed to SET UP sound equipment at 9:30 a.m. in Big Park. Tom will take charge, but we'll need more helpers, hopefully including band members AND people running sound throughout the day. We need to be finished with this task by 11:30 a.m. so everyone can make the parade.
2. Assistants needed at the end of the night to CLEAN UP the stage (around 11 p.m. to 12 a.m.). Members of the last band, Catapult, have thankfully volunteered, but we need JAMmers to oversee the handling of JAM equipment. Tom and I will not be available for this task.
Please call Laura @ (3o3) 545-55o2 if you can help OR just show up at the designated times!
MANY THANKS from JVFD/EMS!

My thespian husband just this minute mentioned that Colorado Shakespeare Festival has half-price preview tickets for Hamlet tonight.
His assessment of this performance: best Hamlet, weak Cornelius, but overall rip-roaringly good.
(Bob has a small part as the "player king".)

WOWIE! Please read this carefully to the end...
Just when I think I had the best July 4th ever (last year), another one comes along to surpass it yet again! WHAT A GREAT DAY AND NIGHT topped by a phenomenal fireworks display thanks to JVFD!!! I learned later that our beloved Fire Chief, Rob Kohler, bought the grand finale HEARTS DISPLAY with his own money specifically with Chris and Lulu in mind! What an incredible commUNITY of peace, love, and happiness that I am so glad and proud to be part of!!!
Of course, I am never able to say ALL that I should say on the microphone throughout the day, so I would like to reiterate DEEP and SINCERE THANKS on behalf of JVFD/EMS to EVERY SINGLE PERSON who worked so hard and joined in this enormous commUNITY effort.
