Can you believe it? Craft Show time again!
Gina and I (Laura C.) are thinking the weekend of Dec. 13 would be perfect. We would like to run it for 2 days this year- thinking maybe 10-4 on Sat the 13th and 10-2 on Sun.
That is one 6 hr. day and one 4 hr. day. Any comments or suggestions? Let us know!

Hi Laura-- Thanks for posting. Here are my questions/concerns:
1. Would the registration fee change for two days? 2. What if a participant only wants to do one day? 3. How will the food aspect be handled for two days? Will some people bring for one day and not the next and visa versa? 4. How do you think having the fair on Sunday too would make it better?
I plan to do the fair again, but I'm not sure I will do it for both days--just fyi.
Thanks, Karen

Have you spoken to any of the crafters about doing 2 days? A lot of them schedule pretty far in advance, so might be booked. (I don't know - I'm not very crafty ;-)
Also, to add to Karen's list, you would need to be sure to schedule volunteers for both days - although the Craft Fair doesn't need a whole lot, mostly just for the food and final cleanup. So that's my 2 cents' worth, since I couldn't make the meeting. Thanks for being willing to take this on, and for having such great enthusiasm!

Great Jena, thanks. Anyone wanting to help with setup--please be at the town hall at 5pm.
Also, it may be that I have to stream the movie from my computer or burn a dvd from my computer so we can use Rainbow's set up. Since I'm not so tech-savvy--anyone who can help me navigate these murky waters, would be my best friend this week. Email karenjamestownATearthlinkDOTnet or post here.
Thanks, Karen

Hi Laura--thank you so much for taking on this seasoned JAM event! I would like to design a new poster for this event--will you let me know your drop dead deadline for needing to mail it and I will get it to you. Might even be able to help you mail it if you want. I'll be in Jamestown this Monday and could I find you at the MERC? Will you call me and we can talk about feedback you may be getting for running two days? 303-881-7109--Elizabeth > Date: Mon, 29 Sep 2008 18:34:35 +0000 > Subject: Jamestown Area Artists and Musicians: JAM for the Arts > From: qtopic-34-BnMgtCrwVaLsQ@quicktopic.com > To: qtopic-subs@quicktopic.com > _________________________________________________________________ See how Windows Mobile brings your life togetheraat home, work, or on the go. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp102009...STRIPMIME_JOINLINES < replied-to message removed by QT >

Speaking of great bluegrass bands...
MOONSHINER is playing at Twisted Pine Brewery during happy hour tomorrow (Friday, October 3rd) from 6-8 p.m.! As you may recall, this band features our own Tommy Williams on mando, Paul on guitar, Todd on banjo, Juri (from Shanti Groove) on bass, and Mike on resonator guitar. Come on down for some social drinking and pleasurable jammin'.
MOONSHINER has other gigs booked this month, including one at the Merc! Check it out at:

Slacker Uprising tonight at the Town Hall.
Set up at 5pm. Please come and help move chairs and tables and put up the movie screen.
QUESTION: Can we get access to the movie screen in the school (just brought to my attention)--otherwise we're using a sheet (fine by me).
Potluck @ 6pm. Movie @7pm.
Thanks! Karen

Regarding holding the Craft Fair for two days: I'm not sure that Jamestown draws a big enough crowd to support two days. Would it work if some crafters were in for one day only and others for both days? Or would we end up with two smaller fairs. The concession booth would need twice the goodies, coffee, chili, etc and most importantly people to sell the goods. I usually stay at the booth most of the day (with help) but would not be willing to do both days. The propane usage would double but would the profits? We have been quite financially successful with the one day fair in the past. These are just a few things to consider but if you find that most or all of the crafters would prefer two days and you feel you have the people to support it we could give it a try.
A decision should be made soon so that you can get a listing in the Daily Camera's "Holiday Craft Fair" advertisement. I know that this piece of advertising is very important to some of the crafters.
