Update: My mom was evaluated beyond the original 6 weeks intended, and it was finally concluded that her lungs are cancer free. Thank you for all of the prayer support. We could not have lasted the past 4 months without the strength and patience given by our Heavenly Father. Regardless of the outcome, I am thankful for this experience and thankful for the church family.

Hey everyone, please pray for my dad who will be going in for an angioplasty on Tuesday. Everyone I talk to says it's a simple, routine procedure, but we can't help be a little worried.
If you can, please keep him in your prayers... Thanks!

Susan,
I will be praying for Ruth and her family.

One more prayer request... my coworker's son (turning 1 this month) has a ultrasound scheduled to check on cysts on his kidneys. They haven't caused health issues so far and everyone's praying that this time around, it will be the same. My friend's name is Amanda.

Please pray for the family of my staff member, Ruth. Her daughter and son in law moved to New Jersey/New York several months ago due to his job. It has been difficult enough for her to be away from her daughter and granddaughter. However, today, Josh discovered thru a medical exam that he might have Lymphoma. He needs to undergo an MRI. Ruth and her 3 daughters have endured many hardships over the past 15 or so years. It's amazing how resilient the human spirit is. Please pray that they can endure another time of difficulty.

Also, I'd like to offer up a prayer for David Chung's mother. Thank God her angioplasty showed no blockage. Please pray that she will continue to watch her health and diet so that her check up in a few months will be clean.

Thank you.

Thank you for all your prayers for Giovanni, a former student from my Elementary school. The doctors cancelled the kidney removal surgery on Monday. They are going to continue trying to regulate his meds to avoid surgery. I know it was through your prayers that allowed this change to happen. Please pray that a donor will be found soon.

Also, an update on my friend's husband with melaloma. Even with treatment, he has not been doing well. More than his physical well-being, we need prayer for his spritual well-being. Please pray that he will find peace and comfort knowing that God is in control of all things.

Thank you.

Michael,

Our prayers are with you. I'd like to reiterate what David wrote. It seems that you are reaching out and calling to God in your deepest need. Here is a prayer, adopted from the Calvary Chapel website, which asks Jesus to be your Savior. "Jesus, I know that I have sinned against You. I know the truth is that I have sinned by my own choice, and I am the one responsible for it. I know that I have earned punishment from You, and that the fair punishment would be death. Jesus, I believe that You died in my place. Forgive me for my sin. I cannot cover or take my sin away; I am relying totally and only on You. You are the only one who can save me. I reject my sin; I turn away from it and I repent. Come into my life, take away my sin, and show me how to live my life in a way that is right and pleasing to You." If you pray this prayer, you are saved!

Besides the Bible, I can recommend a couple of books that might be applicable for you. Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis talks about the basic tenets that Christians believe in, regardless of their denomination. Know that it is only through the GRACE OF GOD that you are saved. Once you are saved, continue to look towards JESUS CHRIST and please do not be discouraged when you sin. We are imperfect beings and we will continue to sin, even after salvation. If we continuously remind ourselves of this, we will continue to approach GOD with a humble heart and ask him for his forgiveness and THANK him for his GRACE again and again, and again. if you fall from your path to GOD, do not be discouraged. You just have to keep on trying again and again to turn away from your sins. Throughout history, all Christians struggled with this.

The Optimistic Child by Martin Seligman and others is a great book which teaches parents a proven system for children to fight depression. This might be helpful to you. A major cause of depression is when we constantly think negative thoughts. You must try to fight off negative and defeating thoughts.

I strongly suggest that you seek help from those around you. You mentioned your family. Ask them to pray for you if they already haven't. Seek out those around you for prayers and guidance. Christian counselors, counselors and rehabilitation centers can also help you.

We are all screwups. And God is more concerned about spiritual sins than physical ones. These sins are both wrong, but one is more wrong than the other. We are all sinners and Jesus knows this and wants us to come to him with a humble, broken heart. Only then can we accept his Grace. So please do not be discouraged. Stop beating yourself over this. I know God loves you.

Michael,

You say you are trying to find your faith. I encourage you to simply look to Jesus. The bible says "seek and you will find". Our doors are open for you and you are welcome to join us anytime.

We except you just as you are and I know that God's loving is extended to "screw ups" like you and me as well. God answered a similar prayer of mine years ago and I know that He will answer your pray of wanting to experience His joy and to be apart of His family. What you need to do is receive Jesus Christ in your heart TODAY. RIGHT NOW. The bible says, Today is the day of your Salvation Michael. Leave us your email and/or phone number and we can pray together.

Michael,

My name is Jim and am a member at First Harvest Chapel. I can relate to what you are going through. I recently had issues with anxiety/stress, panic attacks and insomnia. Couple months back, I slept approximately 3 hours in a 2 week time period...and ended up hospitalized in means to get stabilized. The drugs that were prescribed to me prior to my insomnia episode were anti-depressants (prozac) which actually made my condition worse. So I definitely feel your pain and your personal struggles at this point and I know what your family must be going through as well. I will personally pray for you and your family and our church will also be in prayer for all of you as well.

To answer your questions...God is gracious and merciful, he has a plan in each and everyone's life. He opens our eyes and our hearts in our time of turmoil and as we reach out to him through our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, God will always be here for us...for everyone, regardless of what you may think of yourself. Jesus is always praying for us...so take comfort in knowing that God will never leave your side. He is listening and he is always near. I have been on prescripition drugs for the past couple months now...the doctors have diagnosed me as Bi-Polar and put me on 6 types of drugs from anti-depressants, anxiety pills, sleeping pills and anti-psychotics. But by the true Grace of God, I am completely off the medication and I took a leap of faith cutting my meds on my own terms believing that with Christ, everything is possible! There is certainly joy that comes from being part of a group of faithful believers, however the real joy comes from understanding God's love and surrending your life for his purpose.

As for what you should do? I know coming off of prescription medication is a hard thing and the "withdrawals" become more apparent and difficult to deal with, however, look at it as a positive thing. To be honest, those medications in the long term is not good for you physically and mentally. It is going to take time to heal and defeat this horrible situation you are going through...but take comfort in God, and know that there is always that door at the end of the tunnel, the light...hope.

You will be okay. I know it is hard to imagine now because what you are going through is something a lot of people do not understand, however, just know there are a lot of other people, like myself, that has gone through simliar situations in life and have overcome any fears. You are not alone...you have your family, friends, and most importantly, you have God who will never leave your side.

I will definitely be praying for you and your family each night...and feel free to contact me directly if you need someone to talk to or if you have any other questions. My email is jimnam@gmail.com.

Michael, you will get through this, it is never too late to believe and have faith in God. God created you in means to protect you and not harm you. Struggles and difficult times will come and go, but God is always constant and his love for us is unconditional. Hopefully we will here back from you soon on this forum. And you will be in our prayers!

Jim

I awoke this morning after tossing and turning all night with the sun beating through the bedroom window. I am nearly in tears for putting myself through this turmoil I am feeling. I was trying to find my faith when I got lost into prescription medication. All that ended and I was living every day pill by pill. I am so scared to get out of this alone. I have no choice now but to stop. My family is aware and helping me through this. I never have been to church or even baptised for that matter. I am not even sure if GOD would want a screw up like me. I want to understand what it feels like for those I see full of joy after grouping together to share there faith in god. What do I do? Please pray for me?

Our God is a faithful and loving God. He watches over us and cares for us. Especially in times of trouble, He is with us. Our God's promise is that "He will never leave us nor forsake us".

Deuteronomy 31:6

Update on my mom: The pulmonary specialist opines based on current x-ray images that it is not a tumor in her lungs. Following 6 more weeks of antibiotics, he will confirm whether the suspicious area has grown or remained the same. If larger, CT scan. If same or smaller, it can be assumed as non-cancerous. I will update again later. Thank you for your continued prayers for her and my family.

Please pray for my mom, cancer survivor of 8 years. X-rays reveal a suspicious finding in her lungs. Following additionally aggressive antibiotics, she will be x-rayed again this week to determine if pneumonia or if cancer testing is needed. [Desired to share this past Sunday but became overwhelmed with emotions upon hearing Sil share about the various types of cancer among friends surrounding her. Will attempt to speak up this Sunday without getting choked up.] Thank you!

Please pray for a close friend of mine who has recently been diagnosed with Cancer. He recently underwent a surgical procedure on his left hand for a simple carpal tunnel release. At the time of the procedure the surgeon discovered an abnormal mass of soft tissue in his left hand palm. The mass was confirmed to be a malignant and was identified as a very rare but aggressive soft-tissue Sarcoma. The doctors have all concurred that this cancer is not to be taken lightly and should be handled aggressively to give him the best chance of survival and they are recommending amputation of his left-hand along with several months of chemotherapy to give him the best possibility of out living this cancer.
They are taking this one day at a time and are relying on God to carry them through this difficult time in their lives.

Please pray for my grandmother. Few weeks back she fainted and hit her head in the bathroom. Currently she is at a care center and she is unable to move and she suffers from constant extreme pain. Doctors said there is nothing much they can do for her but give her pain medication. I just ask for your prayers for recovery as well as making the process as pain-free as possible. Thank you.

Please pray for my coworker, Lisa who lost her 10 year old son a couple of months ago. It has been so difficult for her to deal with the pain of her son's death. She holds on to the hope of reuniting with him one day, but the pain in her heart exists. Please offer up a prayer of peace and comfort. My friend's son, Jacob, passed away today. As Lisa stated in her journal, "At 5:00 today, our Little Warrior, Jacob Thomas Field won his battle and is resting in the arms of Jesus; completely and fully restored." My friend has been an inspiration to all of us at my school. I pray often for God to strengthen me to be thankful in all circumstances but always wonder if I can do that even during the suffering of my child... I have been so encouraged by my friend's example. Incredible strength beyond our own understanding can only come from God.

Thank you again for your prayers for Jacob and Lisa.

Thank you for all your prayers for my friend's son, Jacob. The family has decided to stop aggressive treatments to provide Jacob with "quality of life" rather than "quanity of life." Now it's all up to our Lord to provide healing or to take Jacob home. Lisa has been an incredible example to everyone at my school... she has allowed others to see strength and peace that can only come from God. I have been challenged to look at my own life and how I would respond to such difficult circumstances.

Please continue to pray for my coworker's 10 year old son, Jacob. Recent MRI has revealed that the tumor cells have grown in his spinal fluid. They will be traveling up to San Francisco to meet a team of specialists for the next steps. They are again faced with the decision, "quanity of life or quality of life?" Please pray for wisdom for the doctors and wisdom for the decisions that will be made by my friend, Lisa and her husband.

“The closest distance between a problem and a solution is the distance between our knees and the floor”. In addition to praying about our problems, look what we have to be thankful for. Our church is blessed!!! Our pastor is back in full force, Jim and Dave are starting a new business and we continue to see the hand of God moving in people’s lives. We serve an awesome God and He is in control. Praise and trust in Him!!!

I would like to request 2 things:

1.) My cousin is on her way to China to look for a match for a kidney transplant. She is below 20% health and is in serious need. Her name is Minjae Chung. Pray for a quick match and speedy recovery. She has a son named Sean, my nephew, and he needs a kidney transplant as well...I believe Sean is below 30% health. He is in the process of being placed on a list in the US. Sean is currently a 9th grader who attends UNI High School in Irvine. Please pray for Sean so he can get added quickly to the list and hopefully get his transplant soon.

2.) Finally, I will be opening up a business starting July 1 at the Irvine Spectrum...more so praying for its success...I would like you guys to pray that I will quickly have the flexibility to not work on Sundays so that I can still participate and continue to be involved with praise at the Church.

Thank you.

I have occasionally visited the prayer board to pray for those who are in need. And now I have a prayer request of my own. David & I are in need of much prayer for the new business adventure that we have taken. Not for its great success but for its mercy on us. David has been working 15hours 7 days a week & I am at lost of what we have may have gotten ourselves in........... I'm worried, a little scared.

Prayer... How powerful and yet so neglected. My family and I are very glad to be apart of such a wonderful church. As every church goes thru good and bad times, I am encouraged to see FHC in prayer. Let's pray and see what God will do. Let's go and see where God will lead. Let's obey and see our reward in heaven. Peace.

I just "happened to come across" your site, and was reading about your church and saw the message board.

I just want to offer up my prayer for your pastor rick.
whateve he and his family are going through, god will see them through this time of trial.

believe me....it can be tough. i say this being an ordained pastor myself.

be encouraged.
let me suggest a great book that has helped me in my time of needs. Running on Empty by Fil Anderson. A great book!

praying for your pastor rick and your congregation.
stay strong my brothers and sisters in the lord.

When I went to my " @home" meeting, I was encouraged to here and see how supportive our group was of our church and pastor rick. Plse pray for the commissioners so that we can have wisdom in making the right decisions and pastor rick's speedy recovery. We thank you all for all your support and inputs through email and phone calls.

I Corinthians 13: 1-13
"If I speak in the tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there is prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge;it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now I see but a poor reflection as in a mirror;then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part;then I shall fully, even as I am fully known. And these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Let us not forget to love.......

As I sit looking through God's Word, I am reminded how important prayer is in every aspect of my life through the good and bad times. I hope that all of us will continue to pray for Pastor Rick and his family. Let us not get caught up in "talking" about it with one another, but "praying" with one another..James 5: 13-16.
We realy miss you Pastor Rick and Kay !!!
God bless.
