I am a ptf on a hold down of a vacant route. Today I was told to give 30 minutes of work to a regular carrier so he can have 8 hrs, BUT someone in the office was workin OT. Only thing is Im scheduled eevry day this week, so can they do that because Im over 40 hrs, or is it day by day, because who knows if the schedule will change for me being a ptf and all. Can I grieve this? Second part of that would be can mangement say the regular could work the OT because it was further away from him (travel time) than I was so thats why he took time from me to reach his 8?
Thanks for your help anyone.

Watching hours /m4141 2009 JCAM page 8-15: "For example, management is not required to use a carrier from the ODL when the travel time would be excessive for the amount of assistance being given." thanks to egark for the reference

Hello all. Watching Hours: If u have a hold down on a route, they can have u give time away for a regular so he can have an 8 hr day, as long as no OT is given. If any OT is given, then yes, you can grieve this. We finally got this straight at my station.
My concern with being reassigned to another station-- I was wondering also if I can be reassigned too. When Prime Time is over and 2 rts get eliminated from my station, there will be no need for 3 PTFs at my station. So I asked my manager what will happen to me, and he said it is up to the area manager to reassign me. I have been shipped to other stations in my area, and the supervisors ask me if they could keep me permanently. I guess when I am no longer needed at my "home" station, will I be reassigned at another, or just bounce from station to station on a daily basis?
I also do like to be called in the morning to go to another station, cuz I am given a "fair" day at other stations as opposed to my "home" station where my supervisor piles it on me, casing up vacant rts, carry extra time, etc. It's a break for me when I get shipped out :)
Also, in our stand up talk this week, we were told 140,000 jobs may be cut and a 5-day delivery week is in the works...plus layoffs are comin.. anyone have info on this?

Watching hours /m4141 After reading the section on that page, I believed this only apply to overtime work. So, you may file the grievance on PTF /m4143 was right. Article 41.2.b. A PTF, temporarily assigned to a route under Article 41, Section 2.B, shall work the duty assignment, ... Additionally, the route of the holddown to which the PTF opted may be pivoted if there is insufficient work available to provide a full-time carrier with eight hours of work. Since there were OT worked, Service did violate the contract.

I have a co-worker who is a PTF, she has been on one certain route for almost 7 months. When can we file a grievance for making her regular on that route, and what forms do we need to file. Thanks.

Tanya /m4145 - You can file now, and the form is the official grievance from. Is she the senior PTF? Because the senior PTF gets promoted to regular, who is not necessarily the PTF who qualified the conversion. Even if she is converted, she is not automatically put on that route, it would be posted for bid.

Hi. Does anyone know what rights PTF's on hold downs have in regard to MIRAP? Are we entitled to a consultation? Has any PTF here gone through it yet? Any advice? Like everyone I'm worried about the decline in mail volume & the resulting elimination of routes, and excessing in of regulars from other offices.

moxieman /m4147 Yes. If there is no regular on the route for a while, then they can use the numbers from the PTF, who has done a hold down on the route, for the MIARAP.

/m4146 but I thought everything was on hold because of excessing so there would be no guarantee of that PTF making regular would there? I would rather wait a bit until the excessing was done... I dunno <shrug>.

Heard of a possible PTF city carrier position coming open at the Zelienople, PA. post office. Hope this helps anyone whose position is cut.

Thanks egark. She is the Senior PTF, and we know that it would go up for bid but we wasn't sure the amount of time we have to wait. Also, this route is the worse in this town, she is just ready to go regular. Thanks for your help.
