egark m/2720,
We use the word "turnbacks" for any mail that is brought back from the street. When the regukar is not there mail begins to pile up each day.

David /m2719 -- sorry, David, what are "turnbacks"?

egark /m2715,
I follow what you are saying. In my office the way mangement gets around that is to not allow carriers to work turnbacks as that just takes way too much time.

TeTrash /m2716 -- no. Article 41.2.B.3 & 4 defines who may put in for hold downs. TEs are not on the list.

Here is the MOU about TEs. TEs cannot bid holddowns.

Can a TE put in for a hold down on a route? Supervisors don't know, if I can what do I need to show them or refer them to? Thanx

David /m2714 -- I agree: it is preposterous that management can assign OT to the PTF they just hired a week ago in preference to the senior employees. They think they are saving $$ because of the lower pay rate, but they don't account for all the time I spend catching up with the curtailed and misdelivered mess.

Ok thanks, after reading your replies I rememember hearing (I think on this board) that all the ODL list does is protect (sort of) those who are not on it from being required to work overtime. I would think there would be some kind of protection given for career employees that would keep management from giving all the OT to TE's though, instead of leaving it at thier discretion to afford it to the one's they happen to like. thanks for the quick replies!

David /m2711 -- I thought those on the ODL list were supposed to be called in before overtime is given to TE's or PTF's. Is this not correct? No, it is not correct. JCAM page 8-8.

David...Our office has just went thru this issue and Article 8.5 in JCAM states "management is Not required to use ODL in preference to PTF or TE's...so just because someone signs the OTDL it does not guaratee them the OT but it does protect the carriers who are not on the list....

Hello everyone,
Please help me clear this one up. I thought those on the ODL list were supposed to be called in before overtime is given to TE's or PTF's. Is this not correct? IF a PTF has 40 hours by Thurs. and is told to come in Fri. to work, wouldn't managent have to also work those who are NS for the day who are on the ODL? Or can management use the TE's and PTF's on overtime and not give the ODL's a chance to come in?

My lost scanner showed up, my 204-b a fellow ptf on "higher level" assignment went to my route after hours ON HIS OWN TIME and found it. THERE ARE GOOD ONES.

Here is the way you stop that nonesense. You file a grievance to get "special ptf" paid for the hours she should have worked. When management has to pay her for not working, they will be less inclined to give her the special treatment. And they may not believe her when she claims she had nothing to do with it!

spaceace /2707 After you take the 473 exam and you score more then 70, they put on waiting list, when they reach your name they hire you as PTF but chances are you will work something like from 10 to 50 but they try to work you uo to 40.

You could be a regular in 6 months or 6 years it just depend where you work and how many people close to retirement age.

Good luck to U

/m2699 Route inspectors are there to observe only and not to tell you how to do your job... any issues they have with your job functions should be brought to the attention of your stupidvisor. Next time tell them you know how to deliver and he/she should concentrate on his/her clipboard.
