really need to spell out what is due on the eev site...after our discussion with Bette last night about crispness and succintness and clear message to invite our viewers in...I started to think about it in terms of fertile crescent (art, music, writing) and wrote a little intro perhaps for the enter page??

I have been working on my personal site, refining our why etc. and overseeing the online conversation about Multiple Intelligences. Join us if you have a moment. Bette emailed you all the links. It would be great to hear from some more artists about the subject of multiple intelligences. Dawn, we missed you last week. Meeting Saturday?

just spoke to Linda about it. We think it is Not too much. Souunds great. I have been multitasdking too much so although I shot video I have not tried to USB it to the school Pc and then transfer it to my MAc yet. I have made a site for the kids - my Adv. Photo class, Check it out Particularly since too much is the issue. I've gone crazy and need suggestions. Go thru the A&W site to me and seek out pgs and teaching(edifice0 travel thru the lessons to ADV. photo. It already sounds to hard to do.

hello hello,
Well we have the ideas and focus, I've been working on the galleries page for our inpiration page. I went to the workshop on sat. I have to get an external harddrive in order to do the video, my computer seemed to move really slow when using movie maker. I think it would be good if we had a small video in our site. what if it was video of certain places then some stills put in of the different galleries and venues from watermill to montauk? too much?

well ladies our wiki idea isn't working. It was great meeting with you all but in retrospect that idea session although productive (thanks -great wine and food Linda) was not enough. To many distractions with family and phone. Next time Public House! We need a next time to open various windows and once and for all GROUP FIX! We could also finish up those ibnterviews. clean lines, beauty, simplicity, think zen presentation for powerpoint..then why shouldn't there be zen presentation for websites? and would it not be self deafeating if our website which celebrates artistic place, be overloaded with things and not artistic at all. I recall being at a meeting once for the development of the broadcast of the Emmy awards. The emmy is presented to television communication of quality, but the ratings for watching the show were in the basement. Irony? Those who were producing a tv show about the best in tv could not attract viewers because their show was boring, repetitive, long-winded, . OK, what does this have to do with our website? Well, if we are creating a site about the arts...then it should be beautiful. Yeah, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but you two ARE ARTISTS go with your artistic instincts...and stop worrying about the swimming pool and the patio. Come next summer you should invite ALL of TEAM and the teachers for a party around your pool to celebrate our graduations!

Wow, you really hit the look we were talking about for the changes we want to make to the collab. so how do you think we should go about changing it? I still think we should try to take what we have and just try adjusting the darkness, lighten it up a bit before we try to do a complete overhaul. Maybe remove a few things to simplify it. I dont know, but I definatly like the pg/s you did!!

I'm awake, I'm awake...I've been checking out the different sites and find that many of the ones I like are very comfy cozy, easy to look at, and easy to see what information they have to offer. I dont think we have to go with white but maybe a pale blue, very pale. I will be at the high school monday morning, I'll stop by. I doo think we should rework our colors, maybe even use what we have but change the brightness, make it more subdued well I'll try to put the ones I was looking at on delicious

It seems when you listen and look at everything we have discussed in the past, recurrent themes reappear, as we mentioned Wednesday night. First and foremost is the CREATIVE PROCESS itself, secondly is the ENVIRONMENT which supports and nourishes such processes. This naturally leads us to our home, our locale, the East End. I have become very interested in what provokes and promotes creativity, whether it be any art or craft. The literature speaks of artistic creativity ( the obvious ones; fine art, music, writing) as a special process. What we seem to be interested in is how our home has impacted individuals to be creative. A completely new page (I believe) should be designed and then link out to our previous work. Creativity is the key, artistic expression is the opening door.

review- what we discussed wed.- Notes Our choices: 1-***combine the sites PK and the camp linda experience.Perhaps with a new index page? To combine looks or enter into bpth sites.
I have to EMAIL FAYE ASKING FOR DREAMWEAVER PAGES of the camp site so we can add change and use it.
OR Throw out one idea/page?
2A- add Video- - we have 7 hours of video. We need to do more taking pictures and interviews else should we do…… one hour lunch- wine
2B- Add kids pages ( of course linking to the Meg site.- - Develop more for kids drawing or playing ,post d-igital storysimpact artistic live s -kids gallery
3-Virutal PollockKRas house what happened to footage shot? EMAIL BETTY
use Flash where? Kids? Flash - words that scroll down Flash animation for kids

all good with me.... just want to make sure whatever we do is multi leveled. Community , HS, and mid, .....based not just lower levels . So I can stay interested. By the by I was just asked to donate for some holiday show. Heres my response( idid not mail it yet)
Janice,
Thank you for asking me to participate in the Holiday exhibition. I would love to help. I'm not sure this is the way that I feel comfortable with. I was just thinking and talking about Ron Pisano and the Museum. He was a champion and believed in my work. I have warm feelings regarding Bill, Ron, Fred Baker, the Museum, Gallery North, Stony Brook and the whole nine yards. So it is tempting.
I am asked to contribute to auctions and benefits once a month always with promises that I will meet people , go to the opening and have such a wonderful time. It has never been the case and ultimately the event is thankless and allows the rich to buy my Art at a cheap rate. I sold only one painting last year it has been very hard. So I am not to fond of the concept. Although I would love to help the Museum and want to. I donate to charities only when I feel I can truly make a difference. I will not benefit from this and worse I will feel diminished as an Artist. I am not interested in being a "b list" participant. If I donate work I expect to be on the "A list," So inclusion in the Saturday Black tie dinner, and any and all events is a given as a form of respect. It seems that sometimes this is all artist have.
In the future if there is an opportunity to help. Let me know. An opportunity that the Museum and Bruce might actual both benefit from or at least I can give knowing that my life's work is really appreciated and cared about.
Very Sincerely,

ok, listening in on this and, in my humble opinion, I think because we seemed to have "lost" 50% of our original group (Lauren and Dawn?), I think we should take Meg and Jeannine's idea and be an offshoot of Just Imagine (Just Impressed) so to speak. The camp format could be a natural link and we could continue with the gathering and research. I believe the stories could be told in different tech formats. We just happened to chose video while interviewing our candidates because we only had 7 hours to drive around and get all the shots. Meg,Nancy et al what if our kids produced digital and video stories in class about artists who were (historical) and are (a la Bruce) still being lured and impressed (impacted) by this place?

your comments were great. I am a sloppy business man.Cavalier. The titles of the other groups seem to be logical connective avenues. I am not saying anything new but we need as a group to sit down and decide what to do, best case, and then start trying to get it done, We can link to other groups but we need to sit down together first. Linda - yopu have lots of ideas so lets get them on paper. I vote Public House!!! or my porch. Cyrils, Shangwongs?

I am the last one to understand or make any comments on art since I can not draw a straight line with a ruler but, maybe that is a little aspect that you could take in the process about how few and far between get the respect necessary. I am sorry you missed the luau, it would have been fun to party with you! (I completely understand and had I known, I would have boycotted also!)

I love the Hedi stuff. Your right,,,the tip of the iceberg. So lets get on it. I wanted to meet Gidget but
I had an isue with donating work to the museum and then being asked to pay to go to the party. So I boycotted. Sometimes these things happen to artists. Always asked to give to benefits , auctions that allow the rich to buy art for nothing. If the cause is somethng we care about I do it but there is protocal and respect. Artists never benefit indirectly or directly from these rhings. Period! except for karma points.

Another lurker.... I know that this summer I went to the luau at the whaling museum where Bruce had an amazing painting he had done, and the real Gidget was there. I talked to her for a bit and although she is not an artist (although some might argue that) she did make me feel like there was this real "cult" type of a situation between the surfers and the area. I say this because of two reasons..1- I know Bruce is big into both, and 2- there is more and more (and was for years before) this huge "cult" of artists that have used this area for inspiration and/or to get away from their work in the city. Linda-your camp site is amazing, but only a tip of the iceberg as far as the depth of the impact artists have had. Maybe that could be a starting point for what is to come.
Ok, almost done with my local-yocal stuff. Since my family was one of the first ever in Sag Harbor, I have heard all of the stories about it changing. There was a while back, (I am awful with time frames so I can't help more than that), a big movement by homosexual artists and writers to move or summer out here because of the privacy aspect. This was a major change in the thinking of many people since they were all whalers/carpenters/machinists. Although that may not be a big topic of interest, there is a lot to uncover there. Finally, I wanted to mention that in the whaling museum, there is a letter written by John Steinbeck (a Harborite) about being Grand Marshall (I think) in a parade. He writes some really funny and down to earth stuff in it. Although he is not an artist, I am sure there are hundreds of like letters that artists have written in reference to the area which someone like me really gets a kick out of.
I don't know that any of that made sense, but sometimes those are the best streams of consciousness.

I am also "lurking in" and I hope you don't mind. I loved the impressionist piece from Camp. As Jeannnine mentioned, we might be able to make a connection between our groups or maybe our site (Just Imagine) could just have a link to the Impressionist website. Just a thought but it seems to be a natural connection.

Ok ,it is the weekend, no more open houses, away varsity volleyball games, let's get down to business. Yeah Rachel, I love that you are "lurking around." Let me put my thoughts out clearly. The idea from camp (which was to show how the East End has made an "impression" on artists and is reflected in their work) was one of the original questions when we began the Pollock/Krasner piece. We orginally were asking how does this PLACE impact the creative types. We were, perhaps, too large including writers and musicians in the group and, perhaps, want to concentrate on painters/fine artists only We could interview them and have their stories be part of our site. Now, we are back to having the site "say something" to those who, too, are joining our community or for young people realizing the impact their special home has on this special people. Any comments? Dawn where are you?

I replied to Linda regarding this already. I'm open. We have good ideas so we could just continue and farm out tech issues. First we should/could soliuify our ideas. brainstorm and MAKE decisions,,,,

This may or may not be Linda/Bruce/Dawn. I suggest that Linda and Bruce (and Dawn if she wishes) use this area to discuss their special focus as discussed last night. In addition, I suggest they participate in any of the other conferences so they can see if they fit with others as well. Enjoy!
