Hello all!! I am selling my 2006 Masi Vincere, 51cm for 600.00. It has been a great bike, I just wanted something new and really don't need two bikes. If you would like to see it, please let me know. I live in JC. nicoleldouglas@hotmail.com or 423.773.2762. The bike is mostly red and white w/a little bit o' black.

Bike for Sale:
2001 Cannondale R600

Black Matte
Asking $600.00

I purchased this bike new in 2001 and have used it very little. It's in great shape. I decided to sell it to buy a new mtn bike since I never ride it.

Housing needed for clinical rotation around Johnson City:

I'm a physical therapy grad student in Charleston, SC that will be doing a rotation at the hospital in Johnson City from the middle of October through the middle of December. I was told from another cyclist that I might have some luck on this forum, so I'm giving it a try.

All I really need is a space to lay my air mattress and two bikes, but otherwise I'm relatively quiet and clean. If you can help me out at all, I'd really appreciate it, and I'm more than willing to contribute my portion to rent/mortgage/utilities/whatever. My email is gregoryp@musc.edu. Thanks! And either way I look forward to joining ya'll on some group rides while I'm in the area.

Cross practice this wednesday at Kiwanis Park (Indian Head Park on Knob Creek near Science Hill) from 6pm till whenever.

The skills are a bit rusty so I will primarily be working on dismounts and remounts. From 6 - 6:30 I will do a skills clinic on the finer points of getting off and on (the bike) fast. At 6:30, we can do a couple laps of the course to get used to slogging through grass again. I am usually pretty cooked from the pack ride so I will be going slow. Go as fast as you want but I highly recommend taking it easy and getting the skills dialed in so that you can go fast when it counts

I've noticed that MapMyRide tends to always under-estimate the feet of climbing, sometimes quite a bit so.

Hampton to Bear Cage: 750ft
RR grade to Carver's: 3200
Fork to Hughes: 1600
RR grade to Bear Cage: 200

= ~6000 ft climbing

Not too far off though, I've seen some really inaccurate high totals from other software (DeLorme, GPS, etc.) Fortunately, in this area, it's really quite easy to calculate the climbing feet yourself since the roads are usually going up or down for long distances at a time. Plus nowadays we have all these online sources for topo maps.

Train (or maybe it's me by myself...?) leaves from Hampton Trails at 2pm-2:10 and will stop in Eliz. park around 2:30-2:45

Will go up Charity Hill/Steel Bridge/Willow Springs/Price, unless group wants to go Broad St. instead and avoid the hill. One could also hook up at bottom of Cross ( ETA ~3:15pm at earliest )

What: Sunday Group Ride

When : 8/17/08 Afternoon, 1-3ish pm start, TBD. If you need a certain start time, make a request and we'll try to reach a consensus. I can do pretty much any start time, but 3pm is latest it can start due to length. Will finalize start time before beddy-bye tonight.

Where : Hampton Trails BS + Elizabethton City Park ( will stop briefly at both [Eliz ~1/2 hr after scheduled start from Hampton] , i.e. if you're running late go to Eliz. and hook up there )

Route : to Backbone Rock (near Damascus,VA) and back, + Sandy Gap (US 421 E. of Shady Valley) or Low Gap (W. of Shady ) optional if there is interest. Climbing (2 climbs + optionals ) but nothing extremely steep. Cross Mtn is 3 mi @ ~5-6% from the south and 1.5mi @ ~7% from the north. Sandy and Low Gap are ~5%. Water/Restroom available at Backbone and food at Shady Valley. There is also a clean spring half-way down Cross Mtn S.

Distance: 85 minimum from Hampton, ~72 minimum from Eliz.

Pace: Moderate. Regroup at the tops. No Child Left Behind. Will pull all for Fig Newtons or various foodstuffs/folding tires etc.

Y'all might as well ride Iron together, both rides are going to be in Hampton at 9AM. Ride 1 can go back to JC, ride 2 on to Buladean/Hughes Gap/Roan ( or Roaring Fork instead of Roan) or Fork Mtn./Roan(NC). Same distances/climbing/finish times. Just a suggestion.
