Bear in mind that those voting laws were meant to cover large general populations, NOT 50 or so photographers.
The first vote should count and be the final vote.
4-hour-break rule should be declared THE WINNER!
Article V really should not have been used. Actually, a high school voting method should have been the model. Well, considering how many photogs act like their still IN high school. (THAT'S A JOKE!! Laugh, dammit.)
Also, the 4-hour-break rule IS advantageous to ALL DAY photogs as well. The ALL DAY'ers can break up their 4-hours. This is assuming that one doesn't have to use the 4-hour-break all at once.

Kingfreak, you have a good point regarding "Democracy" and wanting a run-off vote. People that are bugged by this should view the first vote as a primary election (thats why there were three choices like a three party system). Hey, I'm a registered voter and my choice usually doesn't win, in this case, we have to accept whatever wins and make it work for all of us. There are many more issues we need to work on and if we can work together with respect for each other then everyone wins.

How 'bout a COMPRISE!
Taking all points discussed into account:
Make it a 3 hour rule.
annexes allowed which are within a 5 minute radius of event (to disperse the crowd & provide protection from the elements).
No one is going to be totally happy either way therefore you reach a decent comprise & we can move on.
The real issue here is SPACE.
We need to find a way to make the PR people understand or their bosses understand.

I have informed everyone via e-mail about the vote.
I am only expressing the concerns that other photographers have had. The purpose of the vote was for change. 86% of those who voted called for a change in the current system. And 53% called for the 4 hr system. We must bring this up at the premiere on Monday. All photographers must be alerted.
If we know anything from our history lessons, passing new laws can be difficult.
But the first thing that needs to be done is make sure everyone knows the score. Do we still abide by the 'proposed' rules for the 4hr vote? That's what has to be cleaned up.
When I posted the initial notice about a vote, some people looked clueless. Some didn't know there was a forum, some complained they never use a computer, some didn't know about this blog, some don't have computers...
When we have discussions about this topic prior to premieres, people seem shocked it's still on the table. Some didn't want to vote. Some didn't feel they should have three choices and wanted a run off, keeping in line with the 'American' two party standards.
Maybe Im over concerned and should trust in the goodness of people…or maybe this is going to be really ugly and go nowhere. Either way, I have seen the true colors of a lot of people during this journey, and I dont really know if thats good or bad.
I was hoping this blog could be a meeting place to hammer out thoughts, discuss the business, and find out what our co-worker is thinking in an open forum.
I know this is all still new....but some people don't seem to give a rat's ass about anyone else but themselves.

EXCUSE ME!!! what is this nonsense?????????????????????
you don't like the result, so we vote again? come on people, if you didn't want to change, you should not have dangled a carrot in front of us with this so-called vote. there was no talk of another vote if we don't like the results. the same debate goes on, but the arguments are irrelevant. 4 hours WON. if you are now deciding that you really didn't mean to hold a vote and it was all a joke, then just leave it the same (2 hour break) and move on. holding another vote is a total sham. what then if we don't like the result of that one?
i resign from the process and i urge everyone else to do the same. i thought this was a legitimate forum for change and i can see that of course, i was wrong. DO NOT VOTE AGAIN!!

i agree with the 75% majority and think we should do one last vote....then all would be settled.
i still think the point that what if the first people that arrive want to leave, what happens to the list needs to be addressed.
if someone doesnt need to stay there and can leave for 4 hours, who in their right mind would stay? so its very very possible the first people there are going to leave...

I wanted no breaks, also, but 4 hours won, much to my chagrin.

How about no breaks and If youre there before 4 hours before call time it will not count. That settles everything (yea ok lol)That would eliminate the few who want to get there at 8am from pushing everyone elses day up. talk amongst yourselves. I wont debate. dont need that again lol

I am agreeing with Kingfreak and I have been saying it all along. Some have "threatened" to never speak to me again if I voted no break..oh well, I have an IPOD now for those times :) I feel the only way to make people start coming later is to go for the no break. With the 4 hour break, they wil ljust come earlier. On another note, if some arrive early and want to leave to do other stuff, someone has to then wait until another personshows up to hand off the list to and there will be even MORE fights (is that possible??!)

From Bastid: I'm leaning toward no breaks for the 'final' vote...it really eliminates nonsense and seems most fair.
AMEN!
Dennis had a great point about the four hour rule, "Their will be no way to come to a premiere after 12 o'clock and get a good spot."
I propose this to everyone: What is your "Comfortable Zone waiting for a premiere? Whatever it is...add four hours to it.
Example: A 7pm premiere at the Ziegfeld. If your comfort zone is 6 hours, you would arrive at 1 pm. Now add four hours to that and you're at 9am. That's what's going to happen. People are going to get there even earlier because of the 4 hour buffer zone.
What if you can wait 10 hours? You can technically check in at 5am, leave 4 hours, come back at 9am and still only wait 10 hours.
It's going to make things worse....mark my word.

As far as I know - 53% of majority votes is clear indication that 4 hous won this election. When this began it was 2 Hours vs. 4 Hours - nothing was ever talked about in regards to No Breaks. Please keep in mind that it's toooo late to rehatch this issue. 4 Hours has won fair and square. This cannot escalate til the end of Summer and into the Fall... so please accept the change that is about to occur and embrace with open arms. I know that change is hard for some - but in the end everyone will benefit from this current implementation. Guys - let's start the 4 hour ruling with the upcoming premiere which is next week. NY Photographers have spoken. BIG SMILES!!! CV

2/3 is to submit an ammendment for a vote 3/4 is to ratify it.
