I am researching the Lampard family who lived in Rainham during the 1700 and 1800s. William Lampard is shown on 1841 census as living with his son in Rainham. His son, John, was a blacksmith and the address shown is Upper Rainham Street (no number). John's son Henry is also shown as a master blacksmith on the 1851 census, address given is 20 Rainham Street. If anyone has any information about the blacksmith's business or indeed anything to do with the Lampard family I would love to hear from them.

William, I have been away from England since 1982, but I can tell you that there was a Medhurst (Ernie I believe) who lived at 29 Ivy Street in Rainham during the 40s and 50s...He was a taxi driver. Don't know if this is of any help, but good luck.

Does anyone know of any Medhurst families still in the Rainham area as my Great Grandfather (Charles Medhurst) and two of his brothers came to Canada from there in the early 1900's. These three brothers married three sisters named Smeeth who were also from this area. Several of the other brothers and sisters went to Australia around the same time and there was no communication with them after this. I am sure there was at least one sister still in the Rainham area during W.W.2 as some of my Uncles visited her while they were serving overseas.
