Sending a tip to all of you to keep constant checks on your hours. Seems I was seriously sick early 2007 and was out a lot, then the cutbacks came cause corporate told us weekly how many hours each dept. was allowed & even though I was able to return to work my hours were very little. I just found out as of 1/1/08 that Publix cut off my blue cross. I no longer have insurance & still have doctors to see, blood work, tests, etc. So, what am I to do? Corporate was covering their butts to keep money on top & I get penalized cause I didn't have 1000 hours for last year. So, if you've had hours cut for some reason I advise you to keep check on them so this doesn't happen to you.

Hey Hotassbitch! What makes you think I don't work there anymore? I have no idea why they keep making top 100 places to work for when they're so mean to their help.

who here has heard what the whse did changing the way the weeks are accounted for with sales and hours. It cost the stockholders over 8 1/2 million in net profit for the first quarter of 2008 and poorly plan. Not good stewards for the stockholders as in our mission statement

Part 1: Well, Jeez . . where do I start? I first started at Publix in 1995 in Tampa Palms Florida. Kinda cool part time job when I first moved down at age 18. I
was there about a year and then (I was told the store had a really bad inventory) me and a few others were accused of theft. Of course I denied it . . no
really I didnt do it. One of the other kids got to work before me the next day and was brought into the manager's office and was let go. I didnt get any
details from him before I was facing the same ass-raping. I was brought into the office and surrounded . . and I mean surrounded by the managers. They
insisted that I had stolen some silly item . . I believe it was sun tanning lotion or something like that. I giggled at first not realizing that this was
becoming a serious matter. I insisted that I didnt . . .3 or four times and then the manager finally said "look we know you were stealing so if you will
admit to taking 2500 dollars worth of merchandise and agree to pay it back, you can keep your job. ??????????? Hmmmmm . . . that didnt sound quite right to
me . . I mean I was young, but not a complete and utter retard. I refused and they let me go. That store manager is probably dead now and I should have
beaten him and his managers senseless right there in that (upstairs) office.
Later on that day I called the other kid and he told me the same thing . . .except he admitted to it and agreed to pay it back and was fired anyway . . .LOL.
What an idiot. I don't know what ever happened there. So, I went home and told my "mommy" of course . . lol and we decided to never shop there again and
told all of our neighbors(which all shopped there) the same. I still think she doesnt shop there . . lol. Oh, well . . bunch of scumbags. . . lets hit em
where it hurts right? I later found out where the money was really going . . a guy I see later on working for one of the Publix wine vendors . . .funny shit
! He would see me once or twice a week(I wont tell you which store . . lol) and chat about the old Publix parties in good 'ol Tampa Palms !
Part 2: In 1998, I moved to Atlanta and needed a quick job and returned to beautiful brand new Publix. It was wonderful !!!! What a different company ! I cant say
enough good things about Publix in Atlanta. The workforce was far superior and the stores were well staffed. We had so many people and everyone loved to
shop and work there. I should have stayed at the 'ol #536.
Two years later I tranferred back down to a store on St. petersburg beach, florida. Yuck, what a gross mess. I mean this store was probably one of the
dirtiest stores I have ever seen(I was warned though . . .my manager in atlanta who is probably a district manager by now (nameless). . lol . . .warned me
that st. pete was NOT the place to go. I did enjoy working there though with the great looking people. Lots of good peeps down there.
Then I decided I needed a break and went to college for a while still searching for a life outside of a so-called Fortune company that I realized was sinking
into the poopy tank fast.
Part 3: Hmmm . . .what the hell am I doing. It's 2008 and once again I returned to another store in St. pete. What the hell is wrong with me? Are all of the other
jobs out there just as bad? Or do I just want to be left alone? Or do I just believe in a hard days work for a days pay? LOL . . you can all laugh at me
now. I just really like the area and had to move back from the terrible Bible-beating city of Greenville, SC. Just remember : if you're not with us than
you must be a terrorist right?
This is the store I refer to as 2-shitty-9 !
Are people really that scared of (something) that they have to come in and say look "democrats are terrorists" Shaun Hannity said so . . look !!!!!! Have I
been in a fucking time-warp or something? What the hell is wrong with these people? What the hell are they so afraid of in their lives that would make them
feel so threatened of people that (as a culture) we will never understand? I am white by the way. Well I dont want to get into culture but . . look at this
pitiful american culture with your cell-phones and ipods and american idol. Do you have any interests? Put down your silly phones! Stop being so insecure!
No one is watching you ! You're ugly! You're retarded!. . . you should all be put to sleep !!! Well anyway . . .
I like some of the people but I see right away why Publix put in the merit system and strict evaluations. I have seen other sites complaing about this, but
what you end up with is a bunch of employees that have been there 20 years, and have sucked for twenty years and would like to suck for another 20 years . .
Get my point???? They really need to weed out some of these ass-clowns. I would assume this is happening in all of the Florida stores now. We get no
production out of anyone and guess who has to pick up the slack on Friday when everyone goes home on a half day because they are out of hours from not
punching out for breaks. . .you know what I mean if you've worked there. So, now we cant hire any quality people because the store is full of a bunch of 40
something crack-heads from the beach.
Drugs and drug dealing is rampant throughout the store(s). One poor guy cant even come back to work because he gets harrassed to by more crack every day.
He is a recovering addict and just isnt strong enough yet to have something like that in his face every day. He is now in rehab after he overdosed twice in
the store(still employed though). The guy came back from the hospital twice and now he's back in again(status unknown).
Certain managers seem to think this is pretty funny and others just say "I dont know what's wrong with him. . .wink wink." Other employees kinda joke about
it in the store. HEEHEE, well he shouldnt by crack from the stock crew then, HEEHEE.
Every time I see things like this, it reminds me of what Publix first did to me. Some days I feal like taking in a recorder and taking some serious action.
I would like nothing more than to take these scumbags out. Other days I just think "well I dont wanna be a rat and get pushed out/fired/perhaps shot !!!! I
realize that most of these people have families and they are overworked like me and just turn a blind-eye to pretty much everything that goes on. I have
already warned some people/managers that I dont appreciate what is going on and tried to hint that I dont feel safe in the store and shouldnt be around this
kind of crap. They just brush me off. Any suggestions?????
So, as I write this . . I just returned home from another terrible day of Publix. So and so is hurt . . so and so couldnt make it . . so and so got written
up and sent home . . .you have to finish everything . . .you know, the usual !
It makes me very sad to see what Publix has become. It's all about volume now. Keep just enough bodies in the store to keep it going and we'll fix it in
the morning. Managers get their bonuses . . dont really care about anything else. Customer service is gone. The shelves are empty !!!!!!!!!! There was once
a glimpse of a great company when I worked in Atlanta but I am assuming that it is long gone.
I dont even shop in my own store because it takes 20 minutes to buy a pack of cigs. I go across the street to the other store.
I do enjoy my life though. I dont want to sound like a miserable loser that's alwayss complaining. I have a wonderful girlfriend, live in a wonderful condo
on the water and have quite a few hobbies that I enjoy.
Well anyway . . .Good night. . . and Good Luck !
