The Delaware Valley Division of the American Canoe Association , in an ongoing effort to promote learning opportunities and safety for paddlers, invites canoeists and kayakers for an introduction to the Lambertville-New Hope Wing Dam.

The activities of the day are geared towards paddlers with some experience with class I and II white water. This is not a skills class so much as a tour of the varied practice area at Wells Falls (the area below the Wing Dam). The aim is to enable paddlers to utilize the Wing Dam as a practice area at their own convenience and make connections with others of like mind.

Noel Rickert, a resident of Lambertville and member of the DVD-ACA Board of Directors will serve as the principle tour guide. Participants will need a white water worthy canoe or kayak, with the canoe equipped with flotation bags and the kayak outfitted with a spray skirt. Paddlers will also be required to wear personal flotation devices (PFDs) and helmets while on the water. The morning session will include a description of the rapid and a tour of routes to get around without hitting the heaviest currents. Please bring a picnic lunch, as we will take at least an hour break, before taking on the more challenging features.

There is no charge for ACA members. Information about membership and event fees for non-members will be available upon registration.

For more information and to register contact Noel at: nrhdsuprvr@aol.com

This club doesn't really cancel the monthly trips because there is no way to contact everyone...it takes two to shuttle.

Weather looks wet for Saturday. If it's real bad, Joan and I would rather paddle it on the 24th. I'll check the radar today and post something tonight. Call 732-233-9593
