Hi Everyone,
Just had to say how very much I valued the opportunities and challenges posed by our wonderful Parish Week-end at Scargill. So many people put so much time, effort and love into creating the experience it was that,as a parishioner,I wanted to say a huge "Thank You" !
Do we know how Jackie's interviews have gone?I so much hope that her vocation will be enabled, for she has so much to offer.
Thank you all for your hard work.It was so much appreciated.

Hello - here is a blast from the past. How are you all at St Cross and St Matthew. I have settled in here at Frodsham but still miss you all.
How is the fund raising going?

Hi,
Thanks for the emails. We are busy and the main challenge is to make sure I get a day off! Nicola has started driving lessons so I may yet be transported in the style to which I could become accustomed. In the meantime it improves my prayer life. We should catch up sometime soon for a meal but regards work, we have set a date for the development committee to be Tuesdfay October 3rd at the Vicarage at 7.30pm. Please come if you can make it.

Take Care
Love Elaine

Hi everyone, another blast from the past!! Lukas and I had moved back to the UK and moved in with the grandparents whilst Rob is still in Switzerland and visit us every week-end. Lukas have just completed his first week at Stretton Day nursery!! This was an answer to our prayers to get him in there and he is loving it! I am traveling like mad all over the world for the next six weeks and really wanted Lukas to be settled and the help of grandparents...then we will start looking for a house, a new job for daddy so that he can move back too etc. Prayers will be appreciated as it is a chaotic time but little Lukas is sleeping with a smile on his face and that is our number one priority at the moment. Hope to see everyone soon once all the dust has settled...Lots of Love. Annette, Rob and Lukas. (Thanks for the prayers Elaine & Peter - a miracle got Lukas into our first choice of nursery and provided much needed child care - now can we please have a new house, jobs....just joking!)

How fantastic! I have asked Alan to pass your request for prayer to the prayer chain people so they will be on the case as well.
Hope to catch up sometime soon

Hi Annette, How good to hear from you - and back in the UK - that is wonderful. I'm sure we'll meet again sometime, even though I am now based in Frodsham.
Elaine - yes I can make the next meeting.
Liz - are you still out there somewhere?
Everybody - and especially Val - we just had the opening of the refurbished Church Hall this weekend and to celebrate we had our 10am service in the hall instead of in church. At the beginning of the service and during the intercessions there was this fabulous image projected onto the wall. Drawn by someone called Val Fryer - anyone heard of her!!!?
Val - any chance you can email me the image? I could use it a lot. It's the one with the footwashing scene encapsulated in God's hands and the cross above it.
Love to everyone, Kath

I am writing another book (davidjmoran.co.uk) and need a location in Cheshire of a Church, built in the 1800, with an old grave yard, and the knowledge of Crypts, or suface mounted stone built tombs.
As you will note on my web page I am still trying to find my genre, and the story I am writting is an adventure, one who is captivated by following his family genealogy, and the pitfalls he will discover! Thank you, David

Dear David,
St Matthew's in Stretton has a few of the tombs you describe but I don't know how they might have been accessed in the past. We certainly cannot get in them although I'm not entirely sure I'd want to.
Let me know how we might help you further

Elaine

Thank you for your help, I am going to have to improvise, as in the story line, I need the age of the Church, as well as old manor type buildings, which thanks to your sheets of information, I selected your area. The story has conections with Knutsford, as I can use information from the 1700/1800.
Thank you for your help...who knows if I hit the market and get this one published... I will send a signed copy!
best wishes David

I am the grand daughter of the late Charles and Joyce Bostock who are buried in your churchyard. My grandmother was a churchgoer and I believe she crocheted an altar cloth for your church. Does anyone have any memories of them and are you able to confirm their dates of death. My mother was Lucy Bostock their eldest daughter born 22 October 1923

Dear Margaret,

Below is an extract from St. Cross Burial register of the entries for the surname Bostock which gives dates of burial (but not dates of death). Our inscriptions database records inscriptions on the stones but in this case only gives months and years but not which day in the date of death. I do not know about an altar cloth but I can ask some of the older members of our congregation if they know or have any memories of them. I will get back to you if I find out any further information.
We also have Baptism and Marriage databases which we can search if you would like any more information - just let us know.
Best regards,
Jean Bruce, Parish secretary

Dear Margaret,
I have been making enquiries at St. Cross if anyone has memories of Charles and Joyce Bostock and Mr and Mrs Owen remember them. They remember the altar cloth being made by your grandmother and it is still used today. Mr Owen sings in our choir and Mrs Owen does the church flowers.
If you would like me to ask them more about your grandparents then just let me know.
Regards,
Jean

I am hoping someone might be able to help trace the birth details of a Thomas & Amy Dooley who lived in Pepper Street in Appleton Thorn around 1901. They had many children William, Tom, Margaret, James etc Tom becoming an infamous Policeman in the Warrington area. I am doing some ancestral tracing and have their birth certificates but no dates of birth. They may have been buried in Appleton Church cemetery.

I live in France and I will not be visiting UK for sometime.
