It goes without saying that i wish Gabi a full recovery from her sudden stroke. Who knows what is around lifes corner. I have not known Gabi for long ,but she appears to be a caring knowledgable lady. Her posts are full of great snippets of musical fact and information.. With modern medical techniques employed today sincerely she will be very skillful hands. I pray that we will see her posts in the not too distant future. God bless her and her family.

I haven't read the forum in over a week. I am very sad to hear about Gabi and my prayer is that she recovers soon. She is really a very nice person who is patient, loving, and understanding, also very personable, and knows music much more than the average person and shares her knowledge with us which we are thankful for to her. My love and best wishes for a complete recovery go out to her.

It is distressing that another valued contributor to the Forum has suffered an affliction. We shall pray, in our fashion, for Gabi's recovery.

Hello all..
Knowing Gabi as I do, she is a person of iron will, great inner strength, and determination. As well Gabi's husband will be there with Gabi..they have a loving and strong marriage, and in addition, their son Paul, is totally close to his Mom and Dad.So, I know Gabi has immediate family support, love, and encouragement.
Dirk indicated there was good improvement today.
Whatever news Dan and I receive, you can be sure we will pass it on right away.

Pete: I agree with so much of what you said. I've got an imprint of Mario's voice in my mind and no one else can compare. I've been listening to the Hollywood Bowl CD, and that young pure voice, before movies, before fame and fortune, is exquisite and unforgettable. I especially liked that the duets were sung face to face - not one at a time. I can admire the technique of specific tenors, and other parts of the whole, but none heals my heart or touches my soul the way Mario always has.

Gabi: My hearfelt wishes for a full recovery. You are a lady of class and are a valuable part of this forum. We love you!

Pete: I feel that today's standards for judging great voices is lower. Just look at Paul Potts, the fellow who attracted so much attention on the show "Britain's Got Talent" with his "Nessun Dorma". He has a nice voice. But a great one? Don't make me laugh! Yet many people are talking about him as if he does have a great voice. My own father (now 88) called me after hearing him and wondered if I thought he was great. I told Dad that after listening to years of my playing Mario Lanza he should know better.

I have chosen Bizets Carmen the Entr"acte as my 6th pieces of favourite music. A haunting piece of quite astonishing beauty. This excerpt is not the best i have heard but it suffices.

May I add to my diatribe by adding that probably the proper response to what the audience might properly feel (and everyone is entitled to his or her opinion) to be inadequacy on the part of a performer is an eloquent - devastatingly effective - silence. A non performance surely merits nothing. No laudatory tip is deserved and is therefore unnecessary.
