Some docs say it is fine. It depends. As with any medication, it is always best to use the lowest dose possible. Christina

Sorry I should have mentioned that I'm from S.A. and we don't have any support groups and our medical aid doesn't cover "fertlity" treatment. I am trying to be optimistic because a lot of people say that it's all in the mind but it can all very frustrating!!!!

I have been diagnosed with PCOS four years ago. I've been on met and clomid, had a laproscopy, DD & C and cystectomy, all to no avail. I am now 3 met tabs a day and I'm due for another lap on 08/08/06. Hopefully this works!!!

Toni--There is so much you can do! First, you should try to get on a good diet and exercise plan. I recommend the South Beach Plan. Even if you are not overweight, you need to start now and get a handle on your hormone levels now. Also, depending on how PCOS effects you, you could try herbs or drugs to treat some of your symptoms. There is not cure for PCOS, but I sure wish I could have gotten a diagnosis when I was your age. --Christina

You need to be sure that your progesterone levels are high enough during early pregnancy. Many women with PCOS have low progesterone levels, which lead to miscarriage early on. You can take a supplement to raise the progesterone levels. --Christina

Ladies, I'm going to the Dr. on Tuesday, I've gotten preg twice in the last year, but loose it in 6-8 weeks. I remember seeing a post that someone said I could get some kind of hormone or something to help me stay pregnant. Does anyone recall what that was? I want to talk to the Dr about it, since I'm 37 now, I don't figure I have much time left. Although I did start having periods on my own last year without any meds. Thanks!

Called the doctor's office today. Spoke with a nurse. She said that break through bleeding is common with Provera. She said that she couldn't believe that I never had it before especially since I have been on Provera on and off for 17 years.

Has this happened to any of you. I thought Provera was suppose to help regulate and control the severity and length of menses. I took my 10mg 2x daily for 5 days as prescribed by my MD (I never had an issue before). Sunday, 4/23 started staining...medium flow didn't occur until 4/26 with lots of lining (no menses for 8 months). Finally ended 5/5. I figured okay, it was after all 8 months of build up. Today 5/9 started staining again. I never had this happen before. I figured I would give it a few days before I call the MD in a panic. Haven't had menses on my own since 18 now 34. Maybe after being on glucofage for over a year along with aldactone my body is trying all on it's own so soon after the Provera cycle?

Christina, Have another question. When you became pregnant the first time when you first started metformin were you using Clomid as well or just the metformin.
