I think this "magic" thing is at the heart of what makes work fun -- something about an opportunity we sometimes grant each other, an opportunity for becoming "larger than life." I first noticed it in improvisational theater (generally during rehearsals, when we were doing it only for each other), and have since pretty much dedicated my life to recreating it.
