Steve, I noticed href links had been implemented.
So I went back and took back my complaint.
Very very 1984ish, isn't it?

Thank you for responding so promptly. Is there
any way you can make the ugly URLS go away?
I understand you need a way of hashing, but
these laskdfj8qrq45rqr urls always give me
the willies.

I understand your 'modify or delete' function
is what I expected of a preview, and even more
useful: the problem is the first-time user
doesn´t even know it´s there till they have
commited their story.

And I just branched a topic. ¿Where from? Will
you let me choose later?

Yes, but here there's hope in the proles.

The random (ugly) URLs are the way of acheiving privacy by obscurity for those who want private forums, while keeping it simple such that people don't have to register. There's more about the reasoning here. True, for public forums, there should be an allowance for shorter or topic-creator-chosen URLs; that's on the to-do list.

We chose to have the edit/delete links show up only when needed (after posting) to keep the posting process as simple as possible. It's true that when there are subscribers, email has already gone out at this point. We labored over this point, and still think it's the best compromise. I'd be interested in more reaction from you or others on this point, because it is a little sticky.

You branched your topic from the previous topic. The link back is at the top left. Others have seemingly had trouble seeing this too. Could it be made to stand out more?

Thanks for your comments!
