Sue, I think that caption is a module that was devised when the seller was thinking of all of the things that are in fact sold singly but shown in a group display. It should have been changed to reflect that, in this case, the item consists of a pair. I often find there are small inconsistencies within auction listings because a boilerplate has not been modified. I also think that had this in fact been intended to mislead that paypal/ebay would have sided with the buyer because of the preponderance of references to 'a pair'.
