Someone wrote me yesterday and said they could not enter the website. I had no problem with that so I thought it was either already fixed or a problem on her end. Now that I see it's the Buy and Sell page, I have written to the host to report it. Nothing else I can do right now.

Hi all,
Just a thought for your Christmas or holiday giving. Wouldn't it be great to get a copy of Elaine Cooper's new wonderful book on Doulton Lambeth salts. I have mine and I love it. She is on Ebay now under Doulton I think it is. Also, Debi has it on her books site.

I know that Terry used to rework glass from other makers. Reheat, reshape and Iridize the items, and then sign them. At one time Summit would schedule him in to do a glass demonstration and they would do some of this. I think that his wife also helped.
I have seen some of these items signed by him at shows in Indiana and Ohio.

Joan has a couple of the Fostoria nut cups that were iridized and signed by Terry Crider. I asked Terry about them and he says he did used to take more common and readily available pieces of glass from other companies and put the iridized coating on them and then sign them. I still have the picture so I'll post it. Don't think Joan will mind.

Sandy: Joan would have to answer for sure, but I think it's iridizing on either the green salt Fostoria made or the black one. The frosty white one looks like Verre de Soie on clear glass.

I love that Verre de Soie look! I had no idea he did anything like that, either.

Debi...I appreciate that you posted my Fostoria/Crider salts and participated in the discussion for me as I didn't get a chance to check the board yesterday! And thank you again for checking with Terry as to what these were, back a couple of months ago when I came to you for help on identifying these! Looks like there are still some pieces floating around out there that Terry did this process on!
Sandy...Although the one on the left may appear to give off greenish tones in the picture, it is the "Black" Fostoria Individual Almond Cup that Terry iridized and as with most iridized items, depending on the angle by which you view the piece, you will see hues of blue, green, purple and golds. The white one on the right is/was the "Clear" Fostoria now iridized. And Jane, you are right on, it has taken on the look of Verre de Soie glass. Both are gorgeous pieces, signed "Crider" on the bottom, and my favorite nut cups...thank you Terry!!

I sent a note to Terry and Donna Crider to let them know we were discussing their signed pieces and this is what Terry replied. I asked if I could copy the reply.
Debi,
Thanks for letting us know about the chat on some of our glass.
As Ed pointed out, at one time, we did buy / re-work / iridize some pieces of glass. Most of this kind of work that we have done, collectors/dealers have sent to us, we would finish and sign them and send them back.
At that time, we think most stayed in collections but, gradually, gets on the market.
The Fenton salt & peppers is something that someone has sent us to iridize.
Terry and Donna
So there is the answer as to why we do not see very much of this type of thing but need to watch for it, and know that it is not a forged signature when we do see it.
