I like all the clever little animated things I find online to go with holidays. I just wish it was easier to change that heading or I'd do it even more often. Here's another clever animated Thankgiving card...different than the one that's been passed around. http://www.jacquielawson.com/viewcard.asp?code=WQ26144948Happy Thanksgiving weekend to everyone! The wire holder makes sense, Inez since I wondered how the bottels would stay on the stand. Of course, it's prettier without the wire. Thanks for all the history. Does this pattern have a name that you know of? I have two Northwood books, early years and Wheeling years, but no condement sets shown. Nancy V

The original set was made by Belmont and is shown in an original ad from The Pottery and Glassware Reporter dated Nov. 25, 1886. It appears when Belmont ceased business "Northwood" bought the mould. Who made the actual holder is usually based on the bottles it is holding (on yours the metal wire holder is missing). Since "Northwood" made them for longer than Belmont I am assuming yours is Northwood, but it may not be since the same mould was used.
Northwood, the person, was paired often with the Dugan family and involved with these companies: Indiana Glass Company (1892-1896), Northwood (1896-1899) and Northwood as part of National Glass (1900-1903), Dugan (1904-1913) and finally Diamond (1913-1931). Consequently figuring out which company made what can be problematic.

Inez, I thought I might hear from you before I ever got around to searching. Thanks! Nice to know it's Northwood. I think it's especially beautiful with that arched center handle. Your snowy family gathering sounds wonderful. Nancy V

And all in a Northwood holder! I too must bake, 2 pumpkin pies, one Bakewell Tart with black currant jam and one almond tart with rosehip jam. Then Friday it's load up the wagons and head for the snow, we are hosting a family gathering at the cabin, so the snowcat (momma here rides in the cab with the dog on a bench seat while it pulls the trailer loaded with food and suitcases) and the snowmobiles with be loaded down with folk! Happy Harvest festival!

Thanks for the reminded, LyleAnn. I need to quit playing with my toys and go bake a couple of pumpkin pies.
I've always loved these glass condiment set bases, and I found this pretty on my last trip. I have used a couple of them, purchased with no serving pieces, to display salts. This one is perfect for some favorite EAPG salts. They are from left front, Fancy Loop, ruby stained Diamond Six Point, Hickman, and on the back, Galloway. I will have to hunt for the stand's pattery. Now gotta go bake pies or I'll get kicked out of my husband's family. Nancy V

I know that Ed and Kay Berg were on the Martha Stewart Show a number of years ago with a segment on open salts. I do not know much about how videos are uploaded to the internet, but I am sure we have enough space to have it available on our website. If it's a file already on a computer, I should be able to load it. It would have to be up to Ed Berg if he would want to have it available on the website, and he'd have to send it to me somehow. I don't have a copy of it and have only seen a portion of it myself.
We have been losing sellers so we could use a few new ones. Just drop me line at DRaitz@aol.com if you're interested in selling salts on the website. It is only 50 cents per listing with one picture and no initial set up fee or commissions for sold items. You supply the picture, description and price by email.

I hope some of you caught the Martha Stewart show today...in the last segment she made individual open salt & pepper cellars out of walnut shells, and painted the rims gold. (bless her little obsessive-compulsive heart!) She also has a collection of open salts and years ago Ed & Kay Berg were on her show. As always, I am very thankful for this chat site & all my fellow collectors...Happy Turkey Day to everyone! Judy D. (in rainy, muggy St. Pete.)
