Can someone tell me what just happened??
Why is the Premier club league hockey competition pedalling backwards. All modren competitions have finals. What just happened on all three of the women's competitions is competition FARSE. Who were these competitions organizers catering to hockey players or the fans? Does hockey Federation in Jamaica want hockey to be viewed as a competitive sport where fans can come and watch the senior clubs perform or just a sport for hockey players. Had there been a finals, the Federations could have generated some marketing excitment for their fans to come a watch an exciting final game between Tropics and St. Andrew or Tropics and Sharpe's or St. Andrew and Excelsior and so on... This could have generated much need finance I am sure they could use, and pick up some new fans along the way.
Thank goodness the folks who ran this club league were not the ones who ran the schools. Atleast the schools leagues had a final in all divisions. The club league organizers should now take a page out of the schools competion book and use it in their competitions.
All that said and done, Congratulations St. Andrew on a well played season. Tropics next year with the new format maybe we will see you in the finals as I am sure this nonsense will not be carried forward.
