Hi Robin. I've been reading you for about 6 months now & look forward to it everyday. I have been evangelizing RSS to my company's executives for about the same time period. One of the things that I still don't have a handle on is the usage of trackbacks. I see them at the end of your articles & understand that they relate to the topic you have just discussed. My confusion is on the mechanics of it. How do you create them? How do they relate to the aggregation of data on the topic that you are tracking?
Btw, thank you for the turn-on to QuickTopic, I just joined today.

Looks interesting indeed.

With regard to weblogs, my take on the potential benefit (over and above the existing comments feature) would be in having ongoing discussions separate from any particular post.

If I understand the new RSS feature correctly, it ought to allow the display of the current discussion directly in my blog. Any replies would, of course, be made using the external QuickTopic service.

OK, just read the FAQ (should have done so in the first place) and see that integrating the discussion into one's own site is quite independant of the RSS Feed - allowing direct replies to be made there too!

Choppy newsfeed. ~40 keystrokes show up in my news reader. When a name is included and perhaps some HTML formatting, one gets no sense of the actual message. Perhaps this is easy to reformat?

I have put my name after the message to increase the number of informative keystrokes that are presented in the newsfeed.

Actually, there appears to be a variable number of keystrokes presented that is not influenced by name length.

I'm the guy behind QuickTopic.

The rule for length of the item was to add whole words until the length exceeded 25 characters. I've bumped it up to 50 characters in response to your comment, but I find that Firefox, for example, truncates to 35 characters or so. These are supposed to be just titles, and since QuickTopic posts don't each have an explicit title, I'm trying to just give some sense of the post.

Regarding the display of markup, that's a tougher problem. I could strip it entirely, I suppose, because not all RSS readers handle it (it's currently in a CDATA section, meaning readers should display it literally). Any feedback on the best approach here is welcome.

Hi everyone, just FYI I've implemented changes to the RSS feeds: stripping HTML tags from the item titles, and truncating usernames to 10 characters to make space usage more efficient.

Видимо, как раз там аходятся источники ценной научной информации, по мнению ВАКа РФ После этого наивной шуткой кажется наличие в базе также шаблоно документов, писем счастья, рекламных сообщений, художественной итературы и т.д.
 
Причем если мы просто удивимся непорядочно ти разработчиков «Анти-Плагиата», то государству следует строго просить, соразмерны ли денежные затраты с возможностями системы, и имел ли право ВАК использовать систему «Анти-Плагиат» для пров рки серьёзных научных работ!
