I only heard about the MODMO BRR ride last yr, and wanted to be a part of it this year. I'm sad to see that it has already happened. Is there any way that I can get on your mailing list and get pre-registered for next year?

Do we just show up tomorrow if we have preregistered for BRR or, as in years past do we go somewhere the night before?

Hi this is the BRR Ride organizer, and I am ready to answer your questions! The question about helmets is a regular one...you are required to sign a release stating that you will wear a helmet during the ride. Plus it is a good idea. There is no way for us to "disqualify" you or anything like that if you're not wearing one, but you may get some comments.

Just have a question about the BRR on November 4th.
Are helmets required?

The XCX starting time is:

Check-in and late registration will take place at Tryathletics on Fri. Nov. 17 from 4-7 pm and at midway expo Sandbar area Sat. Nov. 18 between 7-8:15 am

The MidMoBrr team registration is:
MID MO BRR encourages teams to register and participate. The following registration discounts are available: Minimum team size is 6 riders. Each rider will get a $5 discount off the normal registration fee. The team must pay for its entry with one check. (Team members can then pay the person who registered the team.) Is the contact information correct for team registration for the BRR? My friend had tried to register our team last week before the deadline and still has not received a call back. Do you need full registrations from each team member to register the team or just name/email?

BRR Ride--Bike Ride to Rocheport date has been set for November 4th. Please note this was strategically scheduled to not conflict with Club Nationals, Mizzou tailgating, etc.

The route will be from the District in downtown Columbia to the town of Rocheport. Distance works out to be the same as last year. We'll have the costume party, entertainment during and after, and plenty of hijinks. More news as things come together.

The race was a blast. We had a great time.I raced it with my 10 year old son and he loved it. He's already planning on racing next year and he's trying to talk mom into racing next year.

Great job Steve

Don't worry about the registration form...just print your name/e-mail/phone/address on a piece of paper and send it in with the entry fee...mail to 1610 Oxford Drive Columbia, MO 65203. Day-of-race registration is also available. If you have problems call me at 573.268.3269

Thanks for the input, Marcia. The earliest publicity for this year's ride indicated that there would be a pancake breakfast. We worked very hard with two different possibilities to organize a pancake breakfast but it didn't work out. The challenge for an event like this it to provide the best possible value...low entry fee, lots of perks...while also raising money for the charity benefit. We are already working on making next year's BRR Ride an even better experience. Thanks for your input and participation.

Love this ride-the weather was great and the scenery is breathtaking. Last year I broke my rib in a collision while on the ride, so this year was definitely an improvement!!
However, I have one suggestion to make. One of the websites about the ride mentioned a pancake breakfast and I was disappointed that there was not a hot breakfast of some sort before the ride. A cold chewy bagel just doesn't cut it...something to consider for next year? Otherwise, the ride is well planned and always enjoyable.

What a great day!!! The ride was obviously run by a true professional who custom ordered the weather. Everything was fun, the food was good...the music was good. We are already planning our costumes for next year!

I wanted to post some feedback on the ride. We had a fun time, but there are some improvements that might be considered. There should be some sag support along the route! My daughter, who was riding with her cousin, got a flat. I was several miles ahead and had no phone reception. She walked about 30 minutes until someone stopped to help her! Also, there should be a child's costume contest. My kid ( the only kid on the ride) was totally overlooked until I said something to the director. Finally, some free snacks and drinks at the turnaround would have been nice. Just something light, like gatorade and granola bars and/or fruit. Thanks!

Hey don't forget anyone can post on this message board! I also want to tell everyone that the JERSEYS ARE IN!!! These things are HOT and selling even hotter. We are already running low on the smaller sizes but have plenty of the normal and larger sizes. Cost is $75...you won't want to miss out here!

This weekend I rode from Rocheport to Hartsburg for the Pumpkinfest. For those BRR Riders who want to "go the extra distance," the 50 mile route will be do-able if you get an early start by checking in promptly at 8am, fueling up with Chesapeake bagels, coffee, juice, and milk, then riding so you can make the 12 noon costume contest at Cooper's Landing.

Jerseys will be arriving this wednesday. The will be $75...all proceeds to the Pediatric Diabetes department...they will be the envy of your friends and motorists everywhere.

Food at Les Bourgeois is also confirmed...to include sausage, cheese, mustard, fruit, chips, and salsa....oh, and 2 cold beverages of you choice (beer, wine, soda)

Costume contest...exercise your creativity along with you legs!!! So far we have team superheroes, the crazy crayons, a jester, a naughty nurse...and that is just the start. Don't be inhibited, go for OVER THE TOP!

The Blue Note Show on saturday night will feature Lucky Boy's Confusion and Ludo. Both are very pop-oriented radio friendly bands that put on a fun show. The show will run until about 11pm, then the Wave dance party will be from 11-1am, dj'ed by DJ Run, a very cycling- and run-friendly music officiando. Check out www.thebluenote.com for more details.

Kelly:

Check with Tryathletics to see if they have a tandem, 573.447.2453. If they don't have on then try trailside cafe in Rocheport. However if she is a non-rider riding a tandem may be a big challenge. I think that Trailside Cafe may have tandem trikes. There is a good possiblility for tent camping at Les Bourgeois, check back on this message board for details.

We'll work on the shuttle...anyone else?

I would like to rent a tandem bike so that my non-riding girl friend will participate in the ride. Do you know if and where a person could do so? Also I need to find a place to tent camp that allows dogs, and we would be interested in the shuttle to Columbia.

To shuttle or not to shuttle that is the question. I know that I want to hang at Les B. for a while but I also want to get to the Blue NOte and party down- What ever it takes to do it all. Thats what I need.

Hey thanks for checking out the Mid-MO BRR website. If you look around you will see this is going to be a very interesting event. Food, biking, bluegrass...what more could a person want?

This year will also be the first year that the BRR is a benefit ride for Mizzou Children's Hospital. The money we raise will specifically go towards promoting Pediatric Diabetes. I personally know some families who have been helped tremendously by the Children's Hospital.

There are three ways you can help the benefit...1) sign up for the BRR Ride and get all your friends to sign up too. Trust me it will be worth it! 2) Make a direct donation when you register on-line or on the day of the BRR. 3) Buy a BRR Ride/Children's Hospital Jersey. This is the hottest apparel on the streets! The jersey is $75 each which will be donating about $20 to go the kidos. And you will look cool!

So get those water bottles and clipless pedals ready...

I didn't run the race, but know someone who did. Does anyone know what happened to the website's claim of cash prizes?

The event sounded like fun while it attracted some good competition. If only I had been healthy... Any chance we will get to see some results posted on the website?

We had a great time on the ride. The food was excellent. We met some fun folks along the way too. I'd like to do it again.

I liked the Mardi Gras beads too. It was a neat way to i.d. the other riders on the trail.

My only complaint is that we got lost in the little suburban jungle on the way back inot Cherry Hill Village. It would have been nice if someone could have flipped the signs around to guide us back. I saw several riders who got lost too. After riding 30 miles - I was not in the mood to meander through a subdivision with no outlets.

Thanks again though, for everything else - it was fun!

Answers to a couple questions on this message board...The Sag Wagon is a ride from Les Bourgeois back to Columbia. We have limited space but can make as many trips as necessary to get everyone back. The most fun option is to ride back, but if you are too tired, cold, or just don't feel like riding back, we'll take care of you.

As far as the route, we will meet at Cherry Hill town center (it's on the west side of columbia, see the map on the web site). From the departure point, we will take back roads down to the katy trail. There is about a quarter mile section on Scott Blvd, but it is the section with big paved shoulders so its not too bad. The route will be marked.

I've had a couple request from people staying in Rocheport who need a lift to the start...call Les Bourgeois I think they can arrange this...the number is (573)698-2133 or
> 573)698-2300.

Looks like good weather see you Saturday!

Hey All,

I'm pretty new to the area and have never been on the trail before. I looked at the map that's on the web site for the starting place but it really doesn't give much information (the town/city would be nice). Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

on the home page if you click on the far left header, midmobrr and the on (what you get) in mentions the sag-wagon from rocheport. What this is I'm not exactly sure, but possibly a lift from rocheport by a shuttle provided? Steve, it sounds like your heading up this event, whats up with the Sag-wagon, thanks, chris

Hey Steven,
Are you supplying the Jack Daniels or the Brandy to warm our cold butts when we ride in Feb. Are we still doing the Mardi Gras theme?

Enjoyed the well-organized Oct BRR Ride and looking forward to the Feb event. Having refreshments at the beginning, middle and end was great. The food was excellent and was served at fun locations. All my group had a wonderful time. We each had a different reason for the experience. It gave us a chance to hang out with friends and get some exercise too. It also gave those of us new to biking a chance to increase our distance, experience the wind directions for the day and to meet other cyclists who asked us to join them in future events.

Thank you Troy for pointing out some of the pros of both rides, as well as something to be improved for the next one. I agree that the food was better at the first ride than the second...having the party at the A-Frame made catering more difficult. We are working more closely than ever with Les Bourgeois, and they are committed to providing a top notch menu on February 26. Also this BRR will be hosted at the Bistro, so the kitchen will be right there.

MBB#1 - Was a great time! The food was great, the ride was good, the group was small, overall I felt I got a good value for my money.

MBB#2 - Didn't live up to its predecessor. What happend with the food?, the ride was still good, the group grew (awesome)I even brought two friends, yet overall, I felt that I didn't get my moneys worth.

What changes will be made to insure MBB#3 will be worth me going on? Will the menu be changed? Can our alcohol tickets be used at the meal and the post ride location?
