however, in the war of terror, groups such as alqaeda do need to be stopped, and war seems to be the only way to stop them. this still does not make war a good thing to do.
what we should have done, was to stop it from starting in the first place. people should just accept eachothers differences and life would be a whole lot easier.

I have changed my mind about whether war is necessary a few times. All my research has made me more aware of reasons and of the effect the war has made on the world as what it is today. Althought i have changed my mind many times i still believe that war is not necessary for peace. As i am doing the long march in china which led up to the chinese revolution it has shown me the life of one man, Mao tse-tung,he was a kind man who wanted to help the communists but when he finally got the power he killed everyone around him and many people fought for that. in the end their was no peace, there were more dead people. everyone who went against mao was then killed. Everyone went to war because of mao, they travelled thousands of miles to gain more support for mao, many people died for mao. then when the war was over and mao was announced as their leader, the power went to his head. he then became an evil person and more people died because they began to lose their support for mao. his is why i believe that war cannot be necessary for peace. it brings more corruption to the world, not peace.

Originally i believed that war was mostly necessary for peace. Although after much research i have discovered that it is not always the answer for example the US dont even know who is the balme for the sertember 11 attacks but they assume that one man was the mastermind behind it based on his and his countries past.

I NOW BELIEVE THAT WAR IS NESSECARY FOR PEACE IN THAT IN THIS SITUATION THE ONLY WAY FOR CUBA TO TURN COMMUNIST WAS TO GO TO WAR

I HAVEN'T CHANGED MY MIND, I STILL BELIEVE THAT WAR IS NECESSARY FOR PEACE. TREATIES AND PEACE DECLARATIONS MEAN ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. HITLER BREACHED ROUGHLY HALF A DOZEN TREATIES BEFORE SOMEONE(BRITAIN AND FRANCE, ALONG WITH THIER COLONIES) DECIDED TO STOP HIM USING FORCE. ALTHOUGH IT COST AROUND 105 000 000 PEOPLE THIER LIVES, IT WAS WORTHWHILE, BECAUSE IT STOPPED HITLER FROM ELIMINATING THE MAJORITY OF THE WORLD TO CREATE A "MASTER RACE" THAT HE WASN'T EVEN A PART OF.

TOO SAM : do you really believe that war is really neccessary in all circumstances? it may have been needed in the war which you are researching, but do you think that war is the only answer to every conflict?

but sam, think about all of wars victims. people, as layla said, live in fear, like the war on terror right now, noone knows whats going to happen, people fear going to public places such as the city, in fear that a terrorist attack could happen. you do make a good point, i just dont think that innocent people should have to live with the consequences when they havent done anything wrong

Dear Sam 'Homie G'... I disagree with what you are saying about having to go to war to go communist is the only way to do it. that cant be right because in the chinese revolution of which was my first choice of war. Mao was able to make everyone to go communist by going to war. this in my case made their situation worse. more people died in result from mao then what they did in the war. mao killed more people then hitler. war causes mroe aggression and therefore i stick to my opinion of war not being necessary for peace.

bradyn, you make a really good point, hitler wasnt a good man, and never should have been given that much power, dont you think that we should just stop these people from getting power before the problem occurs?
