Kevin, thanks for sharing the poem Russ wrote. Wouldn't you know, intellectual snobbery strikes again. I hope others will try to read the poem from where Russ was when he wrote it.

Will this or won't this get sent? I keep trying and it seems like such a waste of energy to write a paragraph and send it; and then somehow, it is not accepted by the Internet or some machine.

But I have a fresh theory of what Bush and his people are doing: They have moved the target to Iraq. They have substituted Iraq and US soldiers as targets instead of US on homeland soil. Therefore as an re-election tactic they
claimed that voters should vote for Bush as president because he is stronger -- as evidenced by no attacks on US soil since 9/11.

Well, of course not. Why would Al Qaeda attack US soil when
it is handier to slaughter US soldiers in Iraq. That is why
the United States attacked Iraq -- to export the target to the Middle East. What was the Iraq War if not an election campaign tactic to get Bush re-elected. No attacks on US soil because the target has been exported to the Middle East. So much for Christ-like behavior by Bush and friends.

The American military said they have won the battle of Falluja, OK let's see the pictures.I'm sure they have been lying to us and American solders are being hunted like rabbits.

As poems of this genre go, it's decent, but it's simply another take on the Bush campaign falsehoods. The analogy is flawed because we had plenty of sheep dogs, but they were taking the month off in Crawford, and had ignored wolf howls for 8 consecutive months.

Kevin,
Thanks for the great reporting. My son handles a 240 Gulf for the 3/1 India Company. Our prayers are with you and all our heros fighting for us.

May all Marines come home safe, but regarding the poem, I agree with Doug - we at home are not sheep. Sheep and sheep dogs are completely unrelated to each other (tho actually, sheep dogs can and do breed with wolves). We are in fact all of the same species, and that fact is too quickly forgotten.

I wish safety to all US Marines, and also to Iraqi civilians, including 'insurgents'. In short, I wish an end to this hateful war.

Kevin Sites, thank you, excellent work on the reporting from Fallujah. This is the closest news I’ve seen on our military in battle.
Russ’s poem was beautiful and hearts felt. He explained the meaning of the soldiers so well; they do watch over us and secure our freedoms! This is exactly what my nephew explained to me when he signed up for the Marines, keep up the great work. I send my prayers and wishes to all of them for an end to this war and their safe returns.

Nice poem and good for the troops, but we are not sheep, they are not wolves and this war has little to nothing to do with 9/11.

Or, they are wolves, we are sheep and our shepherd has us grazing in a field that's not his.

This would be a more respectable analogy.

love the poem!
just a thought... did the sheep dog ever go to the wolf's lair, or just chase it back into it's lair with a strong message to never return?
glad you dogs are on our side! may the wolves be always afraid.
