I discovered your web log after an Evening News story you filed was aired November 15, 2004. After reading your posts over the past year or so, I am struck by the similarities you've recorded to other places, other conflicts. The terrain may change, the language is different, the uniforms evolved over time - but the tone of the stories, the faces of soldiers, the ever present "waiting game", these are the same. Your postings, your photos and your filed reports reflect fairly, I think, on those who live life in an essentially unfair way. Keep up the good work.

Kevin, wondering where your originally from? My girlfriend is a Sites and here family says there aren't many of them here in the USA. She is from the PA, MD and West Virginia area. Any relationship possiblities? She would be interested in hearing from you if possible. Keep your head down. A retired Navy CPO.

Thank you Kevin for keeping us updated on our Marines that are with 3/1. Your efforts and sacrifice are greatly appreciated. Can you do one favor for me though? Could you look in on the guys of 3/1 Motor-T? I know they have been working their fingers off getting the humvees going and keeping whole company moving. Thank you Again!

Your writings express the emotions of the situation that you are subjected to in a way that makes me "relax" about my 21 year son (baby of the family) who is a Sgt. with the 1st MarDivMD in Headquarters and Supply at Camp Blue Diamond in Ramadi Iraq. I wish that I could be a fly on the wall and know more about the situation in his camp. He seems perfectly at home for that is a Marine who has been stationed in Okinawa for two years and who has only been in Iraq since the first of September. I laughed at his response when I sent him your view on the boys at the swimming pool. He said that "the pool was not at the camp that he was in." Of course, I would like to hear more on Camp Blue Diamond, but you have a lot of territory to explore.

Happy B-day Kevin, keep up the good work. Just like going up in the space shuttle, you are already strapped in and it has taken off, you can only sit back and enjoy the ride. Time goes so quickly, don't let little things like reality get you down, one day you will look back on this and be grateful for the experience. Being a catalyst sucks, but think of all the people you are touching on both ends of your blog. You will never really know, so just believe the next mission will be better.

Kevin,
I could say picture Marilyn Monroe singing her breathy Happy Birthday to you while your worst enemy is forced to dance stark naked in Times Square in the middle of January, or I could tell you a terrible joke like: Two antennas got married, the wedding was dull, but the reception was great -just to try to bring you a smile for your birthday. Just know that through the magic of cyberspace, the technology of TV, and your intelligent and human reporting you have gained friends all over the world who send Happy Birthday Wishes and thoughts and prayers for your safety.

Hi Kevin!! Happy Birthday!! A few years ago I remember spending my birthday in jail.....working!! I used to be a Correctional Officer. I had to do a one-on-one suicide watch on a nurse who killed several vets in a VA hospital. The person in the next cell was flinging shit balls at me with a plastic spoon through her food trap!! It certainly is a birthday I will never forget!! Hey, maybe you don't have any family or friends with you but you sure do have them with you in spirit! Your blog and reporting is so important because it's THE TRUTH!! God Bless and be safe! Mary

Birthday 42 and the middle of the night have a way of blowing your mind. I know, I'm sort of in the same situation..not in a war zone like you...thank God...but similar. Your work is valuable. You keep many of us with family and friends over there comforted. You seem to care about them in your articles. So Mr. Sites, Happy Birthday, many more and stay safe.

It's a hell of a life, so might as well make the most of it, do the things you really want to be doing, where you want to do it at. There are always alot of roads to be travled and never enough time to get to them all. Just pick the ones you really think you want to go down and make the most of the experience.
Happy Birthday and may your roads be trouble free.
