Hello Everyone: I am here to tell you about the First Annual Woodbury Breakfast Rotary Club Kayak Event, which is a fundraising event for a local multi-handicapped 16-yr-old named Staphen Clayton. His family desperately needs an addition to their home (bedroom and handicapped accessibale bathroom) as they currently have only 1 bathroom on 2nd floor and cannot carry Stephen upstairs any longer. We are holding event to raise money for their addition. Would love to have participants, sponsors, etc! Saturday, June 7th on Woodbury Lake behind YMCA on Red Bank Ave. in Woodbury, NJ (south Jersey).
Please call 856-251-1777, or go to www.woodburybreakfastrotary.org to read brochure and register to kayak with us! It's a great cause! No additional charge for late registration, $20 each.

Yesterday at Garden Rd. along the Maurice, 2 pieces of sewer scum tried to steal my boat. While I was shuttling down to Sherman, they hid my boat deep in the woods no doubt to return later after dark. The boat was generally ransacked but nothing was taken. I guess there's little market for MylantaŽ and toilet paper. I gave a partial plate number to the police and they are running the alphabet trying to locate the black suv that fled the scene. My blood pressure medicine is working hard today and I am far from calm. Sorry to miss the trip this saturday. I'm sure it would be very therapeutic for me, especially when I get to see the Shaman rinsed out.

Unfortunately I've missed the last few trips. I hoping to make this Octoraro trip and will post to the shuttle board if I can make it. This is at least CII, correct?

Octoraro trip is class 1.5 but easy enough for someone with a 16 kayak with experience.

I did. We did the middle section from Lee's Bridge to New Bridge, about 8 miles. The first 7 miles where fine with only a few scrapes, none for any extended distance. The last mile is one long series of rock gardens with few breaks. Because of the low water level, we were weaving and dodging like a slalom course. At points there was no way through without scraping over submerged rocks.
Only one boat got truly stuck, a canoe with two occupants.
I did get as close to a bald eagle (and his mate) as I have ever been. I was no more than 30 feet from him when he decided that was close enough.
The trip is definitely not for the faint of heart as the initial shuttle took 2 hours from the scheduled start. We where scheduled for a 10AM start but didn't really get started until 10:30AM. We still didn't get on the water until Noon.
