You're bound to want to know: "Why on earth are you discussing ID cards in a mobile technology newsletter?"

Well, the thing that fascinates me: why are the Government so obsessed with doing something that people hate, when they could achieve far better results by piggy-backing the data that mobile networks already have?

mobile technology is highly relevant to ID cards. Apart from the cost, the privacy and freedom issues and all that, will the technology work ? Will PC Plod have a wireless connected ID card reader and iris scanner to validate you when stoppped in the street "at random".
