TG! Sorry you're not feeling well, but glad Dakota's okay (even though scared).

Have to take Manny to the vet tomorrow. He's been super itchy and biting himself. He's got what looks like an allergic reaction to something. He's got what started as small little bumps on different parts of his body and now those on his neck, where he can scratch with his paw, have blistered and filled with blood and possibly pus. He has broken the ones on his neck, so his neck is all splotchy from the blood and the blisters. Called the Animal Hospital Sunday to make the appointment and the nurse (I think--she answered the phone) said I can put neosporin on it and just keep spot cleaning like I have been. And, now, when I got home from work, he can't really weight bear on his front right leg. I'm thinking he may have pulled a muscle since he has let me manipulate the leg and paw and massage his shoulder area. My poor puppy. I'm giving him baby aspirin to help with the pain.

Karen....... I hope that Manny feels better soon. He is so lucky to have you to care for him! You just have to love these little guys, especially when they aren't feeling up to snuff.

so do i. it seems like it's his elbow. dad was manipulating it earlier and he yelped. he starts growling when i try to touch it, but he knows he can't really growl at me so it's just his way of telling me it hurts there and to leave it alone. of course, when i let him out in the yard, he decided to go charging at the stray cat he heard! he can barely walk, but he goes charging after a damn cat. dummy.

Karen, We have lots of allergy experience with Bud. You can also put hydrocortisone on the bumps to ease the itching. With Bud I have mixed hydrocortisone and antibiotic together about 50-50 and then put it on. One more thing you can buy antibiotic cream with anesthetic in it. It's usually lidocaine which is safe (unless you cover their entire body with it) and that helps them with both the itching and the pain of the rash. Just don't put it in places where he can easily get to it to lick it off. Bud is allergic to something in the grass, in fact we sometimes wonder if its the grass itself. He has to take allergy meds almost year round but its really bad in the summer.

T-Gal, Jumping Jehosaphat I've never heard of that happening before. As soon as I started reading your post I was sure you were about to tell us that he died or was badly hurt. I'll bet you are just about as shook up as Dakota is. I sure hope he doesn't get over confident about that window now and decides to go though it again.

I hope its OK if I share your story with Darrell. I am always telling him that Bud could do something like this when he is in our car but he thinks the glass is too strong. Bud totally freaks out whenever a car in the lane next to us has a dog in it.

Apparently Bud is in charge of the US highway system and he has a duty to police it. Terrorists he couldn't care less about but other dogs are a menace he will not allow. ;-))

Wheels, Manny is licking the spots. I asked the nurse about hydrocortisone and she said to stick with the neosporin. I'm thinking it's either an allergic reaction to bug bites--he does like to sit in the yard and watch the neighborhood. We have ants that bit. Or it's the detergent I use. I've washed his collar a couple of times. The only thing with that is I've also washed the sheet I put on his bed and he doesn't have a reaction on his abdomen. We'll find out later. My big concern now is his leg. He really can't put weight on it and he was wimpering when he tried to get up. I carried him to his bed last night :( Giving him baby aspirin. Just hope it's nothing serious. He was fine yesterday morning and when I got home he was limping and in pain :(

Wally can police the waterways, Bud the highways, Manny the yards and walkways and Dakota the package delivery system. LOL

Both Michael Jackson and Farrah Fawcett died today. I haven't been a fan of MJ since all that child sex stuff came out but I was when I much younger and I remember watching Charlie's Angels as a kid.

The vet thinks he has a sprain in his shoulder. There is no swelling, but he has limited range of motion in his shoulder when she was examining him. She said the things on his neck could be from flea saliva (he doesn't have to have any fleas on him, just a bite from 1 or 2 is enough) or seasonal allergies (he sneezes more than I remember our other dogs sneezing, so I think it's this). Gave him antibiotics to heal the neck, an antiseptic to clean it, pain meds for the shoulder, and antihistimine for the itching. All but the antibiotic are as needed. He's a little spacey now from the pain meds. Felt so bad for him when he was wimpering when he tried to move on his bed :(

I have to say I'm glad Farrah Fawcett's suffering is over. She has been in the final stages for several months now and it's not fun to watch someone you love go through that. For all their sakes I'm glad it's over. She can be at peace now.

MJ--surprised for sure, but, in the same token, is it bad for me to think that maybe his kids can lead a semi-normal life now? I had heard his health had not been all that great. One report I had heard on one of the radio stations here, a couple of weeks ago, was that he was only going to perform for 12 minutes during his upcoming shows in London and that the older son was going to perform the rest of the concert. Don't know how true that was, but that's what the DJ's were saying. I think they mentioned something about his having trouble with his lungs when they were talking about that also.

That sounds like CHF (congestive heart failure) to me.

Apparently, Manny's malady is catching. I came home tonight to a limping Beagle. He is favoring his right front leg. We've all looked at it and didn't see anything. I am wondering if he twisted it or something. Have to see how he is in the morning. Poor pupsters.

And to mangle a phrase -
What happens when dogs are home alone, stays unknown.

Well, the Wild and Wooley Beagle seems to be fine today. He's is, at this very moment, viciously attacking a marauding rawhide chewie. Such carnage!

Someone has to keep those maruading chewies in line or they'll take over the world.
