Alive! gee, at 6pm they were reporting him dead. I've been gone all evening and am surprised to come home and find this out. Man, is he going to be despised. He might wish he were gone.

Fort Hood...how absolutely awful!! Those poor soldiers. I hadn't heard about it til I got home from work. At least I hope it turns out to be the evil of only one lone person.

Twelve dead, 31 wounded, the primary shooter is dead and two other suspects are in custody. They are investigating trying to find out if more are involved. The shooter and suspects are reported to be soldiers - some reports say primary was a major.

Lindy, I saw that cat story. They had a pic of a cat wearing a surgical mask so I had to go to the link to see what it was about. LOL

Iowa has a case of feline H1N1. Apparently the cat caught the flu from her owner who was home with the flu. What next!!

I'm a registered Democrat and 99% of the time will vote for the party's candidate. I just didn't care for Thomspon (Bloomberg's opponent). The message I got from his campaign was that Bloomberg spent a lot of his own money and that he "bought" the change of law to end term limits. I didn't hear anything about what he wanted to do to make the city better. I voted for Bloomberg. There was some suspicion from both sides that people would stay home thinking Bloomberg had the election in the bag and would win by a huge amount and then some of the later polls over the last few days had it being closer. I actually heard some spin from Thompson's camp this morning that they said Dem's stayed home and didn't bother to vote. HUH??? Did it occur to them people just didn't care for him and chose to vote for Bloomberg instead? Sheesh.

I also don't see the Republican wins for NJ and VA governor as an Obama loss. It says to me the people in those states were unhappy with the incumbents and with the state of their state.

Well, Karen. What say you about the NY election? Bloomberg for a third term...They said that his margin of success was much smaller this time maybe since he pushed through that "no term limits" policy.
I gotta say, I kinda like the guy! I think I remember you saying he was probably the best candidate this time round.

Hi everyone! We had SCADS of kids this year. Thing is, they came much later than I was expecting them. I didn't get a caller before 6:45. I dressed as a wicked witch, having not dressed up since I was a kid. One of my students assured me that it's bad form to hand out candy without being dressed up, so I ran to CVS and got a silly hat and dress. I bought a cheap mask for the Hubster - he pulled out a ladder and an oscillating fan to improvise his own monster, using the mask of course! It was very effective. Some of the little ones were scared out of their minds! A good time was had by all...About 4 pieces of candy left!

she was looking for the "trick" part ;P

we had a whopping 2-6 trick or treaters and that was it! i have a huge bowl of candy now (i had about 160 pieces of candy easily--3 bags). the last 2 were at least 13 if not a year or 2 older. i told them to take what they wanted. they cleared about half the bowl (and it's a large bowl) LOL

did pay per view and "rented" Orphan last night. it was good, but not very scary. suspenseful, but not scary and parts were predictable. watched some of the halloween movies--never did see them when they came out originally--and they were downright laughable. not in the least bit scary, extremely predictable and really STUPID heroines. you NEVER leave the knife in the same room as the killer you think you stopped because, YOU DIDN'T STOP HIM. started watching The Messengers around 12:30 a.m. and had to stop it--that would have not let me sleep LOL have to watch that later :D i love a good scary movie (not gory).

So how was everyone's Halloween? Because of our neighbor Darrell and I decided not to go all out this year with the decorations so I thought we might not have any kids. We did a few things like put out a jack-o-lantern and hang a drop down spider next to the door but didn't put ghosts in the trees and use the fog machine as we often do. Still we had boodles of kids. Our neighborhood is making a transition I think. For a while there were a lot of older folks but more and more young families are moving in and that means a lot more kids. We almost ran out of candy. One good thing this year we saw a lot of little kids and not as many big kids old enough to drive themselves and best of all no hooker this year. Last year we had this women who must have been 40 or so and drunk who showed up in the skimpiest outfit and was actually trick or treating. At first I thought she had wandered off ahead of her kid but soon realized that she was by herself. It was surreal.

Lindy, Don't worry about it. I have the worst memory anymore so it doesn't bother me in the least when others forget details about me. As long as they remember I exist its all good.

Karen, Sydney's going to be a flower. They are supposed to send pictures and I'll share if they do.

Lindy, I'm sorry to hear about your friends sister. This flu is really bad. We've had 29 deaths statewide and a lot more ill than reported. Our state quit testing about six weeks ago except in cases where the patient was hospitialized because almost 100 per cent of those being tested at that time were positive and it was overloading the system. I never was tested although we are certain thats what I had. One thing that stikes me a s really odd with this strain is the way some people are very sick for a week or more yet others seem to get only the mildest symptoms and then recover in 3 or 4 days.

BTW Its Darrell not Duane. LOL
