Hi Maryann,

I know how you feel. I have two girls and worked from home while raising them with a husband who travelled throughout most their lives. It's so tough. I did want to mention that I used a site that I think you'll enjoy. It's free and it's at http://www.learnthroughgames.com. They actually have free games that you just print out and play with your preschoolers. The games are actually made for kids that are 2 - 4 so you might want to check this out. It really helped me on those days that I felt like I was going to pull my hair out if I had to come up with one more fun thing to do with my kids. I hope this helps!

Tresa,

I understand your feelings. I am a SAHM of a 3 1/2 yr. old boy and 2 yr. old twins. My days are consumed w/ them and some days, the phone doesn't ring. My husband of 18 yrs. is at work all day and at times travels. I am about to lose it. I can't go out w/ the kids because I feel outnumbered. I don't know what to do, other than pray.

Respond at your convenience.

Hello-
I am mom to a 3, 4, and 5 yo. I am in AZ and would like to have open chat with any parent, any parenting topic, any state. I need adult dialogue but I always resort to a preschool frame of reference.

Hi all. I was googling (as usual) and found where one of my articles "The Easy Way To Teach Your Child To Read" is being featured in the April 2006 edition of Mommy Too Magazine. As a woman of color, it's great to know there's a site such as this for us. I plan to visit often.

Hello Everyone,
I am a mother of two; a wonderful and lively 9mth old girl and a 15 year son. I had my son when I was very young and still in college. My parents basically raised the two of us together. Now that I am much older and wiser, I still need help and advise with this new child. She sleeps to the beat of her own drum. I have tried scheduled naps, bathtime and bedtime and just letting her chose her bedtime but nothing is regular and constant. any suggestions.

Hello. I am an assistant professor in the Edward R. Murrow School of Communication at Washington State University.

I am conducting an on-line survey about parents’ attitudes about television and parenting. I have had a lot of difficulty recruiting women of color. It would be great if any of you could help me out.

This project has been reviewed and approved for human participation by the Washington State University Institutional Review Board.

Could you take 30 minutes to tell me your opinions about these important issues?

If so, you will be entered into an early summer raffle for $50!

If you are interested,

Please take the survey

Thank you for your time. I really appreciate your willingness to help.

Hi my name is Tanya Fields, I am 25 years old with a 3 year old and a16month old. I am creating an online magazine called BLK GRL. It addresses women of color 21-28 who have similar issues such as myself. Who may or may not have families or children and who are balancing school, home, careers and personal lives but who also love great music and fashion. Who are still regular young women who face "real" issues. There seems to be a void of these type of publications for women of color like me.

I am looking for ALL WOMEN OF COLOR (BLACK, LATINA, MIDDLE EASTERN, ASIAN) who are between the ages of 21-30 who are currently mothers, single or married and who are activiely pursuing ambitious career paths and are facing the challenges associated with this. I would like to set up a writer to come out and interview you and a photographer to take pictures of you and your kids for the publication. I think it is a great way for young moms to tell our story and to not be stigmatized as statistics.

Please contact me, Tanya Fields at 718-328-4106 and check our BLKGRL.com for more info on the magazine.

When I was pregnant with my first son I was inspired to write because that is all I could do, I was bed ridden the last 6 months of my pregancy. I remember writing and reading it softly to my tummy, lulling him to sleep while inside praying that he was healthy. I thought to myself how special this moment is, reading a bedtime story I wrote to my child for the first time. It makes me tear up to this day. My son is now 8 years old. I went about trying to get my children's bedtime story published and it was... now my son and I get to share this with other children. My son inspired me and he still does. I think of him as my little prince - which is where the title of the book came from "The Little Prince and His Magic Wand."

If you are wanting to view the cover of my book here is the link... read my Bio... or purchase the book and write an online view...

Blending my family hasn't been easy. Suprisingly, it hasn't been because of race. My boyfriend's two children have never had a problem with the fact that I am black nor have ever been ashamed to bring their friends over. In fact, when my boyfriend Michael asked his son Chris how he felt about him intergrating the family, he said it was cool. His children know more about the rap and hip-hop culture than I do. On the other hand, his late wife's mother and step-father are still living. In the beginning, in spite of the fact that they live on the next street, they would neither come to our home or welcome me into theirs because in their eyes, nobody was good enough to "replace" their daughter. They have since come around. On top of that, Michael belongs to a small circle of friends that he knew largely through his wife who died of breast cancer in 2001. Some of them have understandibly had a hard time seeing him with someone else. What hurts so much about this is that in the past, he ahs shown more concern over their feelings than with mine. When we first met, a lot of people told me that I was lucky that he wasn't divorced and had a ex around to make trouble; but I have come to learn that situations like this are difficult in their own right because aside from the situations I've already mentioned, you have to deal with the deceased person literally being canonized into sainthood and it's difficult to find your place. I've been here in New Mexico (having moved here from my home state of Mississippi) for a little more than two years and although we've weathered the storm, I have yet to feel settled here.
