What's the difference between 20 megabits and 100 megabits? Nothing at all!

It's astonishing how many people who know quite a lot about Ethernet, think that 100 megabits per second networks will transfer 100 megabits of data every second.

They won't.

As a rough guide, 100 megabits wired Ethernet will never go faster than 70 megabits and from computer to computer, you'll be lucky to hit half that.

And over nominally 11 megabits 802.11b wireless, you will never, ever, get more than 5 megabits, and usually half that. So when
