Hello Renee, It is possible to have the extensions permed which I do for many of my clients. If you would like to explore some options you can give me a call at the salon and I will explain them to you. Sorry for the late response as I have been away on holidays.

Hi Sandra,
Do you only deal with Great Lengths hair extensions? I'd really like to get them but apparently they only come in straight strands but I have wavy to curly hair. What do you normally use on your curly hair customers?
Thanks very much, Renée : )

Hi Sandra, I came across your web and read your posts on this site and I hope you can help me with my hair. I previously had a stylist put extensions in my hair but my bonds were terrible and damaged my hair. I have fine thin hair and I do Not want the extensions to be seen. This stylist didn't understand that. I resorted to spending money I don't have on a $4000 postiche piece which is NOT even what I thought!! The guy I got it from was only interested in the business aspect and taking my money. He didn't care about my hair! I'm devastated and I need someone's help... What I want is some extensions that would give me volume/body. I'd say I'd feel safe and comfortable with 20-25 bonds without them being noticeable, but that's for you to determine. Think you can you help me? I'll come see you for a consult.. Thanks!! Angie

I was looking for Icy (as I had missed them!!!) by googling Icy Hair and found them under pierrediamondtrends.com (found this place first) I was comparing the products and found they are the same. I just received a sample bundle and I am happy to be back in the same boat with that line of hair. You are right, there is no shedding, tangling and the bond is as close to perfect as a bond can get!

Dear Sandra, thnx for the consultation, i came 2 you with a lot of hope and knowing ur words that evryone can definitely not be a candidate for extensions. i would even be happy with very short pieces that u could help me with so that theres not too much weight pulling them down and curl them or twist them to hide whatever you said would look bad but at least have something to hide my bare forehead from the sides, i can live with the short ones right at front of the forehead but the short sides are the ones that are killing me, because of which i never walk out of he house without pins or headband on my head, even dread looking at myself in the mirror at home, it just makes me so impatient and irritable like a prisoner. i had thought that i would muster up all my savings for u as it could be pretty expensive and once ur done with me i would look myself in the mirror cry my heart out hug you and present you with a bouquet for being an angel . . lol! however i respect ur wisdom and experience in this matter and will just wait until this painful period is over. :( Thanks anyway and All the best. ;)

Dear Sandra, i live in toronto and want to visit you location so i am looking for directions, but first i want to ask you if you can do something to help me with my situation. I have long straight and fairly healthy hair but 2 or three weeks ago I had the most unfortunate day of my life, my sister has cut my front bangs too short. i waited for the whole winter to enjoy my beautiful hair but now, summer has hardly began and i feel like i cannot even go out because it just looks simply disgusting (like ugly betty) and i want to have my normal life back. i wont grow back to normalcy for another 4 to 5 months i guess i have been really depressed and almost crying every night. Please help me out. Thankyou.

Hello Pao, First I would like to say it is very unfortunate you are losing your hair at such a young age. There are definately things you can do but extensions may not be the answer. I can guide you in whichever direction is best suited for your hair. There are many options out there for women with hair loss. Second, I would like you to see your family doctor and see if there is a medical reason for the hair loss and if there is anything that can be done to help. Take Care

Hello. I've heard so much about extensions, not all good things, and I'm so confused as to weather or not I should get them. I'm very unhappy with my hair right now, about a couple of years ago it started falling out, and although I don't color, perm, or add any heat to it, it's gotten very thin, brittle, lifeless, and so much has fallen out during the past few months that its gotten to the point where it' emberrasing, I can't do anything to style it,it's so frustrating!! That's why I've been considering getting extensions. I'm scared, though, due to all the negative things I've heard, I don't want my hair to fall out even more. I don't want to add length, just volume to make it look more normal. I'm too young (20) to have my hair look ike this, usually it's older women whos' hair falls out and becomes thin, so I really don't know why this happens to me. Anyway, do you think it's worth getting extensions? As soon as I save up and can afford them I'd like to get them.

I have all natural hair but I have to say, no one, and I mean no one has taken better care of this hair than Sandra. Therefore you can only imagine the care she uses with extensions. I have seen women in her salon that appear to have real, thick beautiful hair including Sandra herself and I am then told it's extensions. There are people out there with medical problems and Sandra's portfolio shows an incredible difference in their appearance and their overall being and self worth. You can see this in just their pictures. And there are people out there Jenny, who are not as confident as you are, which I commend you for, and therefore they need something like this to boost their moral. We should not pass judgement on anyone but accept everyone for who they are or what they might need. I can think of a lot worse things to do then get wonderful extensions from Sandra. You shouldn't be so quick to judge. Have a good day.
Hey Sandra, called and left a message. Need an appt. Want to go crazy with colour and tons of shaggy layers. I am bored. :) Please call me.

Very well put, Sandra...the application, maintenance, removal and quality are so important. Without the expertise and tools to work with the product-just like with anything-results could be disappointing. Obviously some people have had negative experiences llke myself but I blame the technician- not the product.

Hello Jenny, I have enjoyed wearing Great Lengths for almost 13 years. It is a wonderful experience when they are cared for properly. Perhaps you could reserve such negative comments as those of us who really enjoy this product find it rather ignorant. I would be happy to give you some proper education on hair extensions as it sounds as though you may have had a bad experience.

Hello Deb, I think you may have been misinformed of the kind of hair you are talking about getting. Also, when the hair is loose the hair does not stick to the glue or bond very well because it is sitting loose against the person own hair. When this method is used, the hair shed's is large amounts and often times it wasn't worth the work of putting the extensions in for the amount of hair that is lost in shedding. I don't recommend this method at all.

I have to say that as a previous client of Sandra's that when she did my hair iI felt like I was reborn. NEVER have I been so happy with my hair as when Sandra did it. I have tried everything- weaving, wigs, glue, euro locs etc. Nothing has compared to Great Lengths. I couldn't afford them for a while but I want to go back. i was offered by another salon to get the Euro locs done free in return to modelling for them. What a mistake. Euro Locs ruined my hair and it has taken a year for them to grow back.I want to encourage anyone to try Great Lenghts and if you're lucky enough to live in Toronto get Sandra to do them! you won't be disappointed. on top of that she is a really nice person...

I recently got hair extensions from Sandra and an extremely pleased with the results. i have naturally thick hair and would lose clumps of hair when I showered. I also had a ton of hair accumulate in my home over a weeks time. ( I vacuum on a weekly basis and noticed i was picking up clumps of hair around my place every 7 days). Since getting the extensions, I have a few strands fall out in the shower. I believe the extensions are bonding my natural hair and keeping it all in place and minimizing hair loss. I was very impressed with the expertise and knowledge from the folks at Hitec Hair. I am confident that I made a right decision and the extensions will add in faster natural hair growth and minimize loss.

Hi April, When you are trying to get some wave or curl out of your hair, make sure it is towel dried well before you put your product in. Evenly distribute the product and then hold your diffuser in one place while tilting your head so the hair is able to lift off the scalp. Allow this area to dry and then move on to the next area. For extra volume at the crown, turn head upside down to lift hair off the scalp. Hope this helps!

now you can't blame the fact that maybe people who can't afford proper installation are also realizing that extensions totally ruin your hair.
"So I decided to have a couple of extensions, never knowing you end up with 400 things in your head that cause your hair to break off. "Nothing destroys your hair faster than extensions. It's taken a year and a half to get my hair grown out."
Miss Aniston's comments follow celebrities including Nancy O'Dell, Kate Beckinsale and Christina Aguilera all being spotted with temporary bald patches caused by hair extensions.
"Hair extensions are one of the worst possible things you can do to your hair," said trichologist Leonora Doclis of hair specialists The Belgravia Centre.
"Extensions are glued onto your normal hair and they often break off because they are too heavy. Sometimes they break off close to the scalp, giving you a temporary smooth area and at other times they break off about half an inch down."
"Although the damage is usually minimal, sometimes it can be long term. There are also very few occasions in which hair extensions do not cause some sort of damage to your hair.
"I am very against them and advise my clients with thin hair to get a wig rather than hair extensions as they can only cause more damage."

Hi AJ So sorry but unless you get your hair permed with a wave instead of a curl there is not much you can do. A blowdry with a round brush with make it look to styled. I would suggest trying to treat it chemically for a change and give it some wave with a body perm. I have been doing alot of these for men recently. Your right, men want change too! Good Luck!

Hello,
I just wanted to add to the conversation about Great Lengths. I'm a hairdresser in the States and am planning to come to Hitech for my extensions, and I've done a lot of research on Great Lengths. While I was at the Chicago International Beauty Show, I had the opportunity to observe these extensions being applied. The assertion that the bonding agent is mostly craft glue is erroneous; the newest application tool for use with Great Lengths actually generates sonic waves to loosen the keratin and shape it to the application point *with no heat at all*. Purely cold fusion.
The importance of going to an experienced technician when you get any type of extension is enormous. With any type of extension (great lengths included), one has to be aware that wherever the strand or weave is attached, over time that point of attachment will lose hair. Everybody looses around 75 hairs per day. The only difference is that when those hairs which are bonded to the extension shed, they can't fall out(as they normally would)because they will remain attached to the extension. When you can wear extensions for 3 to 4 months before removing them, you will have lost some of the hairs at the original point of attachment through their natural shedding process. It doesn't mean that new hairs aren't growing all over your head, just as they always do.
When it comes to hair breaking or balding, this is a different story. Methods like weaving (which can be very healthy for some hair types) can be very damaging to fine hair, because the weft of hair has a weight which is relatively heavy compared to what a hair follicle usually supports. This causes tension alopecia (bald spots). Both on-scalp adhesive extensions and weaves can damage hair for this reason (the damage is less the more often the extensions are removed and reapplied, provided that the removal process doesn't cause a lot of stress to the scalp and follicle). However, the weight of these extensions is always heavier. Even the glue adds weight.
Great Lengths is different in that there are various thicknesses of strands available. This is important because the weight can be made very very light, the finer the strand that is applied. That means, people with very fine hair (who in the course of a few months lose the normal amount of hair, so that fewer of your own hairs are now supporting the weight of the extension than there were when they were first applied)--anyway, people with very fine hair can choose to have very very fine and lightweight extensions applied to their hair. Tension at the site of attachment is considerably lessened by this method. That means you only lose the normal amount of hair over time, instead of extra hairs that pull out or break off because there is too much weight on them.
The finer your hair is, if you want to add length, the more extra-fine extensions you will probably have to have. If you've been to a stylist who really didn't understand this and they were using thicker strands than you hair could support over time, breakage and tension alopecia would occur. But that would be the fault of the technician and NOT the product.
There's a reason why Great Lengths is the most expensive, the most successful, the one that every-other-person in Hollywood uses. When correctly applied, they are the least damaging, the most natural-looking, and they don't require caustic solutions to remove.
I'm really looking forward to getting my extensions.

Amanda:
Actually, the statement "ONLY safe way" to add extensions" through weaving is not true.. The braid and the weight of the weave can break and damage hair, especially caucasian hair..I have put in weaves this method and have seen the results myself...this does not mean it will happen to ALL caucasian hair, but I have seen the method damage hair more than once, I am very careful about who I do this service for now.

Hello Emily, Unfortunately I have to correct you. One of the most important aspects to a proper application is the technician. You chose to go to a stylist that only had three hours of training. I have been doing this for twelve years and wearing the extensions myself for that long and there are NO bald spots on my heads or my clients. It is unfortunate you had to experience this but please do not generalize for the rest of the extension community. Some of care very much about our clients and that is why I have a long list of people who have been coming to me for over 10 years. Your limited experience and knowledge limit you from understand how this proceedure is done and I must address that you are not a professional in this industry. Medical knowledge is not a techical application and bears little to do with what I do everyday and have done for a long time. I speak on behalf of all the stylists out there that care very much for their clients. Not everything is about the almighty dollar Emily. You have learned a hard lesson about educating yourself. At HITEC we educate our clients and let them make the desicion. Good luck.

Well now I am entirely confused!! What are the least damaging extensions? what about these micro link ones? the euro locks? Are these ok for your hair? Has anyone tried these ones. Right now I have the wefts that are bonded in and I am afraid to not have extensions because once they were removed I noticed that my hair was thinner than when I first started. Any thoughts on what extensions to use where you can try to strengthen your own hair at the same time so that you don't have to wear extensions forever? Is weaving ok for caucasian hair? help!

I was almost bald from Great Lengths Hair and from weaving. My father and mother are both Physicians here in Boston and found that the hair is too heavy for my scalp (causing scar tissue) and that the glue used (my father took it to a lab) when broken down has an extremely low percentage of kerotin and is basically craft glue. I found out about a place in Newport Beach, CA named Wiggin Out Salon. The owners father was a doctor as well and spoke to my father in "Medical Terms" My father agreed to pay for my "rehab" extensions. I flew into Orange County to have my hair done correctly. They invented a process called Med Tech extensions. They only use AMERICAN CAUCASIAN HAIR THAT HAS NEVER BEEN PROCESSED! The hair is very light(like my own)Does not cause excess stress on my scalp and does not look like cheap/Processed heavy ethnic hair. My own fine hair flows with the hair installed. They found hair for me that was blond, in its natural state, and had a wave just like my own hair. I also got to see a photo of the girl that it came from. When they installed it you could barely feel it on. There girls also have to go through 6 months of special training before they are allowed to work on a client. (Not like my previous stylist that recieved 3 hours of training) They started their work on Post Chemo patients so they would not have to wear a wig. This is definitly the "World Royce" of hair extensions. Everything else I am sorry to say this, is a bunch of bull_____! I wish these companies and these people would quit with the Marketing Lies and get down to the truth about what they are doing to peoples hair and scalp. I have scarring on my scalp from those heavy glued in extensions. My current stylist knew this was happening, however she kept moving the extensions around my bald spots just so she could make a few extra bucks. She has been doing hair for over 20 years!!!!! Anyway, my hair is growning back and I am almost to the point where I can take my extensions out and have my own hair back. It has been a year and my hair installed is just as beautiful as the day they installed it. I go in every 2-3 months for maintenance and it has been worth every penny. so all you stylists that are trying to make a buck I just want you to know that were getting educated! Women need to ask questions to your stylists! Where does the hair come from? How is it processed? What is the weight ratio on your scalp? What exactly is the chemical makeup of the glue??? When they give you an answer, take the hair down to a lab and have it tested or the glue broken down to see what is the truth! Ask them what type of training they have had and their knowledge on the Medical end of it. ASK QUESTIONS! This should be a considered a medical procedure! By the way we also did our follow up research on the education that Wiggin Out gave us. They were not only correct in their scientific evaluations but they had knowledge that even blew my father away! Thats what hair extensions are supposed to be about!!! I am sure I am going to upset alot of you stylists, however thats not why I am on this site! I am here to let the public know that they need to look out for these companies and stylists who are out for one thing...to make a buck. Oh by the way...I love the girls at Wiggin Out. I thank them every month for caring enough to do their research and sharing it with the general public.

That is great that you have found hair that works for you. Is this weft hair that you have sewn in to a braid on your head? There are many different types of weft hair available on the market...too bad you had to go through some bad ones to find one you like. Cheers!

I bought Indian hair from Sultryhair.com about a year and a half ago and I am hooked. They sell only virgin remy human hair. I bought some virgin human hair extentions from Sultryhair.com and looovvveeee them. I have been wearing them now for 6 months and I can't get over how many compliments from both men and women, on how pretty my hair looks. No one even knows I am wearing extentions, because the hair is real human hair, so it moves with each turn of my haead and does not look fake. It also does not shed or matt, like othe hair I have bought in the past that claimed to be remy human hair. The site and sales rep. are very informative and friendly. I will def. continue to buy hair from them. My only regret is that I did not find this site sooner. I just had to share this with anyone interested inquality hair that lasts. Check them out, you will be hooked like me.

Great Lengths Hair Concerns.... After reading the messages recently posted I would like to respond first by saying, 100% of a successful application depends on the technician doing the service. I have been personally wearing Great Lengths for over 8 years and my hair is not damaged at all. As a technician and educator for this company, I am proud to say I am a part of beacause it is the best method. Like you, I have tried every method to test and see results and there is nothing that even compares to the quality of this brand. If you are not given the proper tools to take care of your hair, the knoweldge and the products, every method of extensions can damage your hair. I have many clients that have been with me for years that have grown out damaged hair, bad haircuts and bad extensions (including weaves) that will tell you they would never go back. What works for some people may not work for others, to each their own but in defence Great Lengths with proper care and proper application does not damage hair!!!

Hey, just my thought! Great Lengths i very expensive not only to have done, but the company sells the hair for over 100.00 per 25 strands for 18" inches of length. Its crazy. Just to buy the hair for a full head of extensions, you need at least 200 strands. So you need over $500 just to buy the hair. Which this hair will last only 3-4 months. I myself cannot afford it anymore. I looked for other options but other hair companies didnt have the hair quality. I tried SoCAP and Cinderella hair and they were ok. However I did try a company called Icyhair.com and the hair is fabulous and so is the customer service. They have low prices and I have been very happy so have my clients. So just a tip if anyone needs a good hair source. Amber

That is exactly what hairdressers who use fusion and bonding methods want you to believe--it is just a gimmick--women of all races can get weaves. I have thin, fine hair. When I had Great Lengths, they would separate in unnatural looking pieces and you could see the chunks of "bonds" in my hair (I have blond hair). After paying $1200 to $1600 every few months and seeing the devastation to my hair I was fed up. I thought, I'm going the old fashioned way- and I have NEVER been happier. The only way you would be able to see a weave is if you had really really short hair to start with and they tried to put in a weave- then of course it would look like you had a mullet. I went to the best hairdressers who had the most experience and charged the most and my weave STILL looks better!I was always insecure with Greatlenghts and Euro Locs and washing them was a pain, they would get tangled, shed, you had to use special shampoos etc. I feel so confident and gorgerous with my glorious mane - and thank you very much it's a weave and I was left over with over a thousand dollars that I would have wasted on other methods- not to mention that when I decide to get it taken out, my hair will not have been comprimised!!!!

I would like to warn prospective clients of the hair loss and damage Great Lengths and Euro Locs cause to your hair. The ONLY safe method is weaving; and it looks a lot better when properly done and is 1/8 of the cost. I have tried every method and I will never put fusion (Great Lengths) or Euro Locs ( aka Hair Locs) into my hair again. When I had them taken out, half my hair was gone so I had no choice but to pay $1500 to get them put back in! With weaving it costs about $260 for the same quality hair, your hair is tucked safely away in little braids while it grows out. Great Lengths and Euro Locs are just gimmicks to get Caucasian women to pay a fortune for damaging hair extension methods.

Hello Minskore The extensions are not noticeable when pulled back as they are attached about an inch away from all hairlines. It varies on the time depending on how much hair is needed to install. It can be 1 to 4 hours.

Meigan: I just got Great Lengths and they are the best. They are attached with kerotin not glue. They last abiut 6 months. Yes it is human hair and can be dyed. My hair was 3 shades of brown and the stylist matched it perfectly.
MY hair was just to my neck. The extensions were too long and she cut and styled them. I have pictures if you want me to send them to you. No one knows that they are extensions.

I am inquiring about Great lengths. I would like to have them attached for my up coming wedding on September 4th 2005. I do have a few questions though! How long before my wedding do you suggest that they be attached? Are you able to colour the extentions? (I will have to colour my hair but I am wondering if I should colour first and them do the extentions or should I attach and colour?) Would you be able to give me a general price as to how much they cost? My hair is shoulder length and thin. I am wishing for the full look as well as the length to surpass my shoulder blades. Can you help! Thanks so Much!

Hello Elsie, This could interfere with your extensions if it was severe. It would be my advise to wait until you are off the medication to be on the safe side.

Hello Dani, The extensions without maintenance will be "roughly" safe to wear for about 14 weeks. This depends on a few different circumstances, how long your hair grows, how often you wash it etc.

Hello Eva, The extensions are placed at all areas of the head. The attachment begins about 1 and a half centimeters from the scalp placed onto a small amount of hair. The clients hair will need to match the color of the extension chosed so this is all done prior to the extension application. If you do not wish to color your hair there are many colors to choose from on the natural color scale that will likely match your own color.

When you put in extensions, do you have to cut and colour the person's hair aswell to make it work? Also for the length, is the inches from the top of the head or from the back where you put in the extension?

Hello Nis>>> The new technology is not being launched in Canada just yet. The owner of Great Lengths in Italy was here last April to bring me the new system fast fusion machine to demonstrate to a national beauty convention. It is still being perfected before going to market. I will be the first to get my hands on it when it does get here though! There is natural hair that is lost daily when the extensions are removed and therefore some hair is lost but it is what we call natural fallout. Because it is attached to the bond it has nowhere to go so it comes out when the bond is removed. If the extensions are done properly then the hair is not damaged during the application or wearing time if cared for properly.

Hello Mandy>>>This does cost more to have done but it is necessary for the proper maintenance of our hair. It does not talk about it in the Great Lengths site as some salons do this and some do not. The cost for maintenance is about one third of whatever your intitial cost of the application was. Hope this helps.

I have a question concerning GREAT LENGTHS....in refernce to UR web page that states about "maintenance fill every 6-8 weeks" What is this exactly...I didn't read anything about that being needed on the actual Great-Lengths web-page. Or is this just something U yourself do? Does this cost any extra ontop of the cost of the application/hair at the time of putting it on....? Or is it included with the initial price??? THANKS!

Hello,
I have seen the main great lengths web site and they are advertising their new patented technology. Is this still the fusion method and are you currently using this.
Also is there any hair loss in the removal seeing they are bonded on so strongly?
Thanks Nis

Sandra is a magician. She made my lifeless, crappy hair something to be envied. Getting those extensions were the smartest thing I ever did cosmetically for myself. I had them for a year and not only did I never, ever, have a bad hair day...my weak, dry hair started to heal. By that I mean I stopped dying it as much, only focused on the roots and I didn't need to wash my hair everyday, nor did I use product in my hair. I had this long, thick beautiful hair that looked amazing just washed, or 4 days later in a simple long ponytail. I did remove them because I moved briefly to the States and I would not let anyone mess with her work. She is a genius, a master at what she does and I have now become a serious hair junkie.
