WZCfg is "normally" active. If it's not running, the chances are this is because you've installed some third party alternative (did the Linksys come with a "helpful" CD? Does your Wireless adapter have its own control panel widget?)

You can start the Wifi Zero Config tool by going into Control Panel - Services - finding the Zeroconfig tool and setting it to "automatic" and clickingon "start service". BUT if there *is* a third-prty tool installed, they may fight, in which case either (a) turn the WifIZeroConfig tool *off* again and find and use the third party tool or (b) find and disable the third party tool so it lets the ZC tool manage the connection.

the program I use is msconfig.exe
in XP
run
msconfig
and that will start it.

In Vista, I'm no expert, but if you open the command console and do
cd c:/
and then type
msconfig
then hit carriage return
then it should open.

In MSconfig the "services" tab should take you to WZC, but I'll admit to knowing sweet FA about Vista...

hi i have done everything the knowledge base has instructed me to do and i still cant get on and there is still no network connection tab

Went to start WZC and it starts and when wireless conections pop up does not conect.

well I just got a laptop from my cosin and got a WNC for it and poof no connetion thanks a ton for the help yall its greatly apreciated. thanks again :)

A BIG THANK YOU to Alonge Franks!!! I'm glad I had another computer in the house. The only thing I would add is that the services.msc file might be called "Wirelss Zero Configuration" instead pf WZC. You saved me!

Sympathy! I've had that many times, and sometimes, it turned out to be unfixable.

When that happens, I throw away the wireless LAN card, and use a different one...

It's not an elegant solution, I admit. But if it works...

i configurated WZC service and wireless got it connected but wherever i restart my computer it needs to be reconfigurated again for wireless activation. how can it make it started?

Worked great the only point to add when starting the service is that you are probably going to have to restart the computer (at least on the Dell that I was helping to resolve).

Can you tell me a bit about what card you're using? and are you running Windows XP?

Really, the thing should re-install itself when you plug the card in.

starting the wireless zero configuration(WZC) is not much a big deal.just go to start click run and then type in "services.msc" (without the quotation marks)and click okay. a window will come up with the list of all services run by the operating system, look for WZC,highlight it and click start by the top left corner of the the window.

hi i have a wireless network sistem but the windows cannpt configre the wireless connection. And it says if you want winows to configure this wireless connection, start the wireless zero configuration service. and it gave me an article # 871122 in the microsort kowledge base on the microsort.com. i don't know what am supposed to do

IBM? IBC! And nothing I can do to change it!

Anyway, the connectivity here is dreadful, just to make it more fun and it turns out it's on purpose
