The latest on Crackhead Berrien
1990’s - after being kicked out as National President for stealing from us, Berrien returns to Detroit where he brags about the “Limo’s, Cocaine and Prostitutes” during his term as President. ( all paid for with our dues money)
1998- Berrien is nominated for Recording Secretary and BMC AVP/Branch President. Berrien loses both positions and files the first of many expensive and unfounded election protests, costing the Local thousands of dollars.
2004 - Local President Gary Hicks buys aprons for the membership, They disappear before they are given out. It is widely believed that Berrien sold them for his drug habit. Hicks doesn’t do anything’ but Berrien “owes him” and Hicks uses this to keep Berrien from running against him in future elections
2007 - In December Berrien is removed from the Postal Service for the 18th time in his career for attendance issues. Around the same time President Kister starts embezzling money from the Local.
2008 - Kister continues to steal but is under investigation and charged by State Rep Jim Haggarty, so Kister starts using Berrien as a Union advocate and cover up specialist. as Berrien will do anything, for anyone, for cash
2009 - Berrien is paid over $2000.00 in mileage by Kister for supposed Union activity in Detroit
2009 - The Local Union is forced to pay our International Union (LIUNA) over $5000.00 for shortages related to and concerning Berrien’s past history with the Local.
2010 - Berrien is brought back to work at the Postal Service through an arbitration
2010 - Berrien losses his bid for election against Jim Haggarty by a wide margin, unsatisfied with losing yet anther election, Berrien launches a series of protests and appeals that cost the Local thousands of dollars in lost time for the Judges of election. A total of $30,000.00 was paid in lost time for the entire election and appeal process for the judges of elections. Berrien running mate, Keylea Fuqua , as a Judge in 2010, was paid $10,000.00 while she dragged out the frivolous appeal
2011 - Berrien is representing a Kalamazoo Mail Handler in EEO, she had already paid him $500.00 as a retainer but he demands that she wire him $50.00 before he will get on a phone conference with management and the EEO office. Berrien then tells her that she has a bad case for EEO but for another $1000.00 he would arbitrate her case
2011- Berrien represents in EEO a GWY Mail Handler that was suspended for 11 days without pay for answering his cell phone and settles the case for a 5 day suspension and no back pay after the Mail Handler paid him $600.00. Jim Haggarty and Rita Tripp later get the discipline removed and get him back pay through the pre arbitration process.

2011 - NDC Branch President Gary Hicks is using Berrien as his main advocate on grievances without Local President Jim Haggarty’s approval. Berrien argues in an important LCTS case that management was using clerks in “secret”, basically destroying a good case. Haggarty removes Berrien from the cases before more damage is done, but multiple cases either disappear or were never actually filed.

The latest on Berrien
1990’s - after being kicked out as National President for stealing from us, Berrien returns to Detroit where he brags about the “Limo’s, Cocaine and Prostitutes” during his term as President. ( all paid for with our dues money)
1998- Berrien is nominated for Recording Secretary and BMC AVP/Branch President. Berrien loses both positions and files the first of many expensive and unfounded election protests, costing the Local thousands of dollars.
2004 - Local President Gary Hicks buys aprons for the membership, They disappear before they are given out. It is widely believed that Berrien sold them for his drug habit. Hicks doesn’t do anything’ but Berrien “owes him” and Hicks uses this to keep Berrien from running against him in future elections
2007 - In December Berrien is removed from the Postal Service for the 18th time in his career for attendance issues. Around the same time President Kister starts embezzling money from the Local.
2008 - Kister continues to steal but is under investigation and charged by State Rep Jim Haggarty, so Kister starts using Berrien as a Union advocate and cover up specialist. as Berrien will do anything, for anyone, for cash
2009 - Berrien is paid over $2000.00 in mileage by Kister for supposed Union activity in Detroit
2009 - The Local Union is forced to pay our International Union (LIUNA) over $5000.00 for shortages related to and concerning Berrien’s past history with the Local.
2010 - Berrien is brought back to work at the Postal Service through an arbitration
2010 - Berrien losses his bid for election against Jim Haggarty by a wide margin, unsatisfied with losing yet anther election, Berrien launches a series of protests and appeals that cost the Local thousands of dollars in lost time for the Judges of election. A total of $30,000.00 was paid in lost time for the entire election and appeal process for the judges of elections. Berrien running mate, Keylea Fuqua , as a Judge in 2010, was paid $10,000.00 while she dragged out the frivolous appeal
2011 - Berrien is representing a Kalamazoo Mail Handler in EEO, she had already paid him $500.00 as a retainer but he demands that she wire him $50.00 before he will get on a phone conference with management and the EEO office. Berrien then tells her that she has a bad case for EEO but for another $1000.00 he would arbitrate her case
2011- Berrien represents in EEO a GWY Mail Handler that was suspended for 11 days without pay for answering his cell phone and settles the case for a 5 day suspension and no back pay after the Mail Handler paid him $600.00. Jim Haggarty and Rita Tripp later get the discipline removed and get him back pay through the pre arbitration process.
2011 - Berrien is elected to go to the LIUNA convention and represent the Local and sleeps the majority of the time.
2011 - NDC Branch President Gary Hicks is using Berrien as his main advocate on grievances without Local President Jim Haggarty’s approval. Berrien argues in an important LCTS case that management was using clerks in “secret”, basically destroying a good case. Haggarty removes Berrien from the cases before more damage is done, but multiple cases either disappear or were never actually filed.
2012 - Berrien represents letter carriers at the NLRB and sues the Mail Handler Union for not representing letter carriers. The case had become a great nuisance but it has been dismissed with a ruling of no wrong doing by the Local
2012 - Berrien is elected as a Delegate to Our National convention. He refused to participate in any way, including the simple request to be in a picture with the rest of the Local. He would constantly get up and comment at the microphone and slur his words, the other Locals kept asking if he was high or is this a Joke?
2012 - Berrien continues to be a hired gun for profit. He has announced plans to run for Local President again and he threatens to go into management if he loses. (management would never use him and if they ever did, we could have him drug tested)
2013 - Berrien announces his slate . He has no active Stewards run with him. This has never happened before, no active and current Stewards want their names associated with Glenn Berrien
