End of story: Says who? Observer? I disagree. We the leadership that we have you would support that line. Why would you have abritrated cases in your meeting minutes? You do know that the arbritrated cases when complete are public record? Yet you couldn't ask the present adminstration for one and get it. They said that about the rotation on Tour III was done based on a case from what I heard. I told those who reported it to me to ask for a copy. Guess what never happen. Why becaus there wasn't one. More smoke and mirrors or is it just plain lies.

So the Story continues. Post the minutes and the finance on the Board. You have nothing to hide from your members. Be up front and keep us informed.

You're right. There's nothing to hide from the MEMBERS. If we had a closed shop then it would probably be a good idea. We don't. We don't need scabs reading meeting minutes and we don't need officials of other unions reading minutes. It's pretty simple. Why wouldn't you discuss cases in your minutes? Minutes should reflect the discussion at the meeting. If you didn't put everything in then you would be hiding something. The E board might discuss a strategy or issues in a facility. You don't want the APWU schlepping up to the board to read that we have a case coming up that they might want to stick their nose into.

Letter states as of this Saturday my new schedule will be a 4pm start with Sun/Mon off. Hey thanks......I'm just wondering if they can do whatever they want with bidded people why on earth did they go through the hassle of abolishing others.

And YES, Congratulations to Debbie LaMay...woohooooooo!!!!!!!

Observer: I guess we would have to sit down and go over the Robert Rules of order and bring up where the minutes say "Board retire to have discussion regarding confidential issues." But then should those be brought up in the meeting? Could the grievant be present at any of the steps of his grievance while off the clock at his/her choosing?

Should the steward handling the case discuss the confidential issue with another union official. I'm not taking any position but there are some grievances that are very sensitive.

Still I come back to the point that my Dues (my money) that I give to the Union should allow me to have an accounting of what those funds are being used for. Then as a member in good standing I should have an accounting of those officials while performing their duties. They should be providing me with what issue and resolution etc they are handling while I'm paying them. Are we going to have recall or remove the new officials that come in because they hold the same line?

In the UAW the Labor representative would file minutes on the Labor Management meeting and post them on the board. In the NPMHU you can't even find the minutes in their office as was promised. How could any steward get any work done if he has a constant flow of members coming in to read the minutes. Why would you put in thing in the minutes that was something that the APWU could use against you. Just write "Discuss confidential matter".

Also regarding Labor Management meetings. Why is it that management shares all the information discussed in the meeting with their staff but the Union officials don't share it with their members? Do you really think that it's benefical to let management know more of what's going on than the members on the floor. To me that's poor logic.

Then lastly I'm still wondering why it wasn't announced that there was a trail. It didn't have to state what the subject was but invited all those interested with identification would be allowed to attend. Then the minutes would be available to the members. Now there was a question of misuse of union funds. You mean your going to discuss "Misuse of FUNDS I GAVE YOU". One would thing you would want to hear what that's about.

As far as the scabs my thinking is that noone has really stop the name calling to challenge the premises of why they oppose paying union dues. I haven't seen a comprehensive statement regarding it. I know some will argue that they have a "religious conviction". I would question that one in writing and post it on the board. Perhaps if they thinking is challenged. There's plenty of misconception raise by those who oppose unions.

I won't get into it but I've heard some dandies. It's funny that they won't pay union dues because the union supports candidates that oppose their moral views but go ahead and pay taxes which support the very thing that they oppose and their taxes are way more then their dues which is not being utilitized as they think. But of course if they didn't pay taxes the IRS would step in and because of that fear they pay their taxes and forget their priniciple except when it's convient to keep it in their pocket and make the members pay for the negogiated wages and benefits.

Then the minutes could be posted as one big "discussed confidential matter". There are things that need to be discussed and need to be documented that shouldn't be made public to NON members. If your branch president doesn't have copies of the minutes for members to review, shame on him/her.

Clerk2GO if you have a duty assignment (A bid ) than you have a fixed schedule. If management wants you to work any other schedule you get out-of-schedule premium pay. It is a premium paid to eligible full time regular employees, at 50% of
the employee's basic hourly rate, for time worked outside of, and instead of, their
regular schedule, when working on a temporary schedule at the request of
management. From JCIM Article 8 questions and answers question 7. Enjoy your X-Mas bonus ClerkGo.

Money wise I'll probably break about even so that's not my concern. It's how random they do things. They just brought people from our day shift to afternoons to do the priority. They never gave any warning that they would be doing it to some of us on the floor. They've got a room full of people who are unassigned already. Why pay out of shift pay to others when it wasn't necessary. And also, the letter says it's a permanent schedule. It does not say temporary.

It's drop kick time. Management makes stupid moves and then tries to fix it with something more stupid. Look for more.

Just a little reminder to all of you on this board. The only employees that have been excessed out of the Cincinnati NDC have been supervisors. There have been 5 - 6 excessed out this year and two more postitions cut due to the amount of retirements at the end of October. No craft employees have been excessed from processing. There will be some from maint and from vehicle but that has not been determined yet how many. So when you talk about "management" doing this and "management" doing that, remember that it is coming from "upper" management and not the frontline supervisors.

I would think that most are talking about upper management. When I post, I use management to mean the ones we don't see and supervisor means the ones we do. Just my thought but you made a good point about who is who.

Point of Information about the excessing at the CinNDC: Maintenance may very well NOT have anyone excessed and those in vehicle may be "excessed" into the building as clerks. Chances are there will be no one excessed out of the facility.
Thank you Local 7038, past and present, Union leaders!
