super flat times is good, but not great. the completeness of stories like "father helmet" is lacking nearly everywhere else in the book. derby will be a force to be reckoned with when he gives "story" as much face time as "idea".

The book is good. While I enjoyed some parts of it better than others (a pretty honest complaint when it comes to most short story collections), it's a must read for "The Father Helmet" which almost out-Lethems Lethem's "The Happy Man."
