I don't know how to make this happen, but I have an idea. Maybe we can get a team of top-notch Jewish lawyers to defend Bobby pro-bono. This could serve two purposes: 1) to provide him with a good defense (assuming the lawyers are good), and 2) to (possibly) snap Bobby out of his dementia concerning the Jewish conspiracy against him. I want Bobby to be freed not only from his physical imprisonment, but from his mental anguish. He is clearly brilliant and I don't think he's a bad person, just troubled.

A team of top-notch Jewish lawyers to defend Bobby pro bono sounds like a bright idea! Maybe a good place to start would be the Center for Constitutional Rights which had William Kunstler as one of its founders. Also I like the idea that he has a Japanese woman lawyer working on his behalf.

My feeling is that Bobby should take his time and for a while integrate something like Korzybski&#E2;Pcs General Semantics or Neuro-linguistic programming. He's very much of an individual and it would be extremely difficult to prod him, but if he got in touch with Robert Anton Wilson's Maybe Logic University; it might help. (It's an impossibility, but the best thing for his mental health at this point would be for him to go on vacation! Actually I feel he is being set up to divert peoples attention from the war in Iraq.)

All that said, it's my opinion that his confusion could be difficult to turn around. If he were to be put in a psychiatric institution, he would only get worse. He's a disturbed person but it seems he still has his genius and only he maps reality through a Jewish conspiracy grid. A lot of what he says though is right on. As you say, he should be free from external incarceration as well as his own internal prison!

I do not know what he status is now but I believe a chess club in Iceland was willing to do something. I understand he is taking steps to revoke his US citizenship. Apparently his father, Hans Gerhardt Fischer, was born in Germany and, I believe, Fischer could receive German citizenship.

I still like my idea, but here's the main problem(s) with it (not counting the question of how to actually make it happen):

1) Bobby would probably veto the idea (the main problem)!
2) In the event that a good defense still resulted in a loss in court, then Bobby would conclude that the team of Jewish lawyers had collaborated against him and not presented a proper defense.

But I still wish we could make it happen and get Bobby to "see the light" that there are good people and bad people of all backgrounds, rather than painting with his broad brush.

Bobby Fischer has a complex personal history. With all due respect, we do not expect those of another culture to fully understand the twisted mind of Bobby Fischer. For instance, did you know that William Lombardy, a Chess contemporary of Bobby’s and an x-(Catholic) priest filled young Bobby’s mind with anti-Semitic propaganda? Did you know that Bobby was into White supremacist literature? Did you know that Bobby once said “If I could blow up the whole world, I would”? It has come to our attention that Bobby has been trying to form alliances with Al Qaeda. Thirty years ago, or even twenty, we would have thought of Bobby in the usual manor: as a clown. But in a post 911 world these things are taken more seriously.

Why have not Bob Ellsworth, or Bekins, or President Bush made any public statment in this case? That just confirms Bobbys story, and who will believe in an American trial, even if there ever will be one, American courts are jokes.

Bobby Fischer former world chess champion has been moved to Guantanamo Bay. While it is not being alleged that Fischer is a terrorist, the last straw was reached when he complained that a guard's nose was too long and Fischer couldn't see out of the bars.

Fischer who was captured in Japan for crimes relating to breaking UN sanctions in Yugoslavia, could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted. The problem will be in finding a court and a jury acceptable to Fischer.

Japan has an Extradition Treaty with the USA which requires them to hand over anyone sought by the authorities. The Americans were slightly peeved that the Japanese did not detain Fischer but bound and gagged him, put him on the next available flight locked in the toilet with a note "this is yours I believe", pinned to his chest.

US Marshall Chuck Dupontes said that they thought that the Japs were being mighty unneighbourly. Then they took off the gag. "It downright made me wish it were the old wild west. This mangy crittur was in desperate need of a shootin'. Never heard so much bitching and complaining come out of one mouth".
Fischer's arrival at Camp X-ray has caused fighting among the other prisoners. They are annoyed that the chief warden has ordered guards to take Fischer for daily walks. The guards are unrepentant.

"It's just a short walk on a leash down to a park nearby. Then we let him chase a tennis ball for an hour, do his stuff and bring him back.. It has calmed him down and his nose is wet, hell the improvement is worth the moaning".
Fischer's attorney Marvin Green was full of praise for the staff at Camp X-ray : "When Bobby arrived there was a lot of tension between him and the guards, particularly over messing on his cell floor. They must have broken his nose at least five times rubbing it into the turds. Now everytime I come to visit him his orange straight jacket is shining and his whole face lights up. It's time for Bobby to get back to the board".

Actually the article I read was incorrect; Fischer has not been sent to Guantanamo Bay. Fischer does have anti-Semitic tendencies and at the same time he does have a strong sense of justice.

The Nazism cannot be equated with Zionism which does not mean that both "isms" do not share ruthless similarities.

Concerning conspiracy, anybody (including you and me) who thinks he really knows what's really happening out there is full of shit. But even though we don't really know what's really happening, we have to guess at it and come up with our own interpretations.

Fischer makes a big mistake by blaming the what he considers to be America's wrongs on a religion, multiple of diverse people who happen to call themselves Jews. One thing that Fischer does not seem to have gotten is the fact that his own mother, the local shoe store owner and an Ethiopian rabbi, all have nothing to do with Jewish conspiracy.

That does not mean that conspiracies of many kinds do not exist. Every plant seek its place in the sun and wants to exclude all plants what impede its growth. Most academic scholars laugh at conspiracy theory. Conspiracy, by definition, means a few people who secretly plot or spin together. People of the same economic class cannot help to conspire to some extent.

More and more America takes its orders from corporations and corporatism means fascism as Mussolini pointed out. A corporation represents a body, a kind of a Frankenstein legal fictive body, that lives only to promote itself and make money for its shareholders.

Early on in American society Walter Lippmann and Edward Bernays, nephew of Freud, developed the American theory of spin. They just happen to be Jewish. They both encouraged the manipulation of the organized habits and opinions of the masses is an important element of society. Hitler in Mein Kampf came to similar conclusions on propaganda as Bernays did. Manipulation of the public goes way back to the Italian Renaissance and Machiavelli and even further back to Rome.

While people such as Bin Laden are at large, why dosn't Bush concentrate on hunting down the real criminals and leave artists such as Robrt J Fischer alone? If Mr Fischer had been treated with the respect he deserved in 1972, would he ever had dissapered, leaving chess devoid as it has been by the only real genius since Morphy? No I dont think so. Every serious chess player in the world feels a loss by the decades without Fischer, all the beautiful games that could have been produced. Even now, the authorities want to smash him down...isn't it time to just leave Mr Fischer alone, to get on with his life and just play chess?

I couldn't agree more. Several people have said that prosecuting Bobby Fischer is ridiculous. The first President Bush didn't know what to do about ethnic cleansing in Yugoslavia so he e has gotten himself on the wanted list by playing Spassky in 1992. Now Bush number two has completely fumbled it by getting us into an unprovoked for war for oil.

Bobby's biggest mistake is getting paranoid and believing in a Jewish conspiracy. His outspokenness has made him into a wanted political prisoner. He also has become a good excuse for a diversion from more pressing problems like the American economy and the war in Iraq.

It seems the whole thing has sort of backfired. They did not expect him to revoke his American citizenship. Also it seems he has been dropped form as a news media topic. Last I heard he is languishing in some Japanese prison.

I think we should stop using the term "anti-Semitic" when we want to label individuals who don´t like Jews.

Arabs are also Semitic people, but no one has never used the term "anti-Semitic" against Israel, when its army attacks Palestinian refugee camps.

Conclusion : Bobby Fischer could be "anti-Jewish", but never "anti-Semitic".

Have the physical conditions of his confinement improved?

I just finished reading "Bobby Fischer Goes to War" by Edmonds and Eidinow which is about Fischer's first 1972 match with Boris Spassky in Reykjavik. Not only did he dislike the noise the audience made and complained about the glare of florescent lighting but, It seems, he passionately disliked the sponsors. He refused to let the independent film maker Chester Fox film the games and then when he found out that ABC TV was surreptitiously filming the games behind his back, he exploded.

Looking at something like the current Olympics, the question arises what does a product have to do with the sport. Everything! Behind the scenes, the product becomes everything and the games are secondary. The product is what is being sold. The sport is the attention getter.

Fischer saw it the other way around. Chess meant everything. And I believe the problem goes much deeper than that. When he was younger playing in the 50s and 60s, many times, as the author's of "Bobby Goes to War" point out, he was used. Promoters would say they would help with the expenses of travel, hotels, etc., and then after the tournament they would disappear sticking a penniless 13 year old with an enormous bill.

It is interesting. Bobby grew up in Brooklyn in a poor neighborhood and wanted to be rich. He wanted to put the game of chess on the same level as other sports. To a great extent Fischer promoted the popularity of chess during 1972 era. Now he is languishing in a Japanese jail and, again, very few people seem to care. It is not surprising that Fischer harbors bitter resentment.

Things would be so much easier if Fischer proved he is not circumcized. A simple photo will do.

COURT CHANGE


My name is Maurice Frank and I'm in Scotland. I can't stand Bobby Fischer's racism but I take all opportunities to make this court change known, whoever wants to use it in any legal case. It was used in this case it could not work in favour of BF's ideas, because it only works in favour of liberal fair ideas.
THE COURT CHANGE IN 144 COUNTRIES: judges' decisions are no longer final.
I have been lobbying people in a series of political situations throughout the last 3 years, Genoa, Australia, Israel etc, to spread knowledge of the court change, whose shifting of power in favour of ordinary people ensures that it has been under a media silence. Nevertheless, it's on publicly traceable record through petitions 730/99 in the European, PE6 and PE360 in the Scottish, parliaments. Since 7 July 1999 all court or other legal decisions are "open to open ended fault finding by all parties and recapitulation therupon" instead of final.
This follows from my European Court of Human Rights case 41597/98 on an insurance scam of evictions of unemployed people from hotels. This case referred to violation of civil status from 13 May 97, yet the admissibility decision claimed the last inland decision stage was on 4 Aug 95. ECHR has made itself illegal, by claiming finality in issuing a syntactically contradictory nonsense decision that reverses the physics of time. It violates every precedent of member countries' laws recognising the chronology of cause and effect, in evidence.
The European Convention's section on requiring a court to exist, now requires its member countries to create a new schismatic ECHR that removes the original's illegality, by its decisions not being final. It follows this requires inland courts to be compatible with open ended decisions and doing inland work connected to them. Hence inland decisions also cease to be final and become open ended, in the 44 Council of Europe countries.

World trade irreversibly means jurisdictions are not cocooned but have overlapping cases. When a case overlaps an affected and unaffected country, the unaffected country becomes affected, through having to deal with open ended case content open endedly, that can affect any number of other cases open endedly. Open endedness is created in its system.
The concept of "leave to appeal" is abolished and judges no longer have to be crawled to as authority figures. Every party in a case is automatically entitled to lodge a fault finding against any decision, stating reasons. These are further return faultable, including by the original fault finder, stating reasons. A case reaches its outcome when all fault findings have been answered or accepted.
Anyone can add to the list of court change countries outside the Council of Europe, showing autocracies, pending their freer futures, as well as democracies. It starts with:

Over the years I have watched the Bobby Fischer saga unfold and it's a sad tale at times. Bobby used to be my hero in chess, I only played the openings he played and tried to emulate his style...what a player! When it comes to chess Bobby has always been the ultimate player. Of course over the years Bobby has said some interesting things and then came the re-match against Boris Spassky. Fischer has every right to say what he wishes, he has that freedom. It's not what he said, it's what he did back then that got him in trouble. Defying the sanctions got him in trouble, he can spew off at the mouth all he wants, nothing wrong with that, he can spit on all the letters he wants. Does anybody have any recent news about Fischer? It seems like the last thing was the fact that he lost his appeals on August 24 or thereabouts. Since then it appears like there has only been silence. How is he? Has he been moved or is he in the same place of incarceration? Is he allowed to exercise. How is his health? Is he able to communicate with the outside world? etc. etc.
I was aware of Fischer way back before he took on Spassky in Reykjavik in 1972 for the World Championship. I recall I saw him at least twice play chess at the Manhattan Chess Club in New York City.

He created Fischerandom chess and a Fischer digital chess clock. He's opened up the game making it more interesting instead of a boring feat of memorization. He ranks as the greatest chess player ever. If chess were music, he's be next to Mozart.

The problem is his anti-Jewish paranoia which is a little sad. But even that makes some sense, If you substitute "greedy bastards" or "imperial fascists" for Fischer's "dirty Jews" then a lot of what he says is on the mark. Somebody suggested "Jewish Lawyers to Free Bobby!" That's a good idea. Maybe it would help his sanity.

Over the years, he has been ripped off by America's best esurient car salesmen. After he won the World Championship in 72, he was snubbed the White House. He never got a nickel for that movie, "Searching for Bobby Fischer" and several other things too. Apparently he was bumped off a list and a Russian gymnast was invited instead. Fischer disobeying the economic sanctions against Yugoslavia is a lot of hooey. The United States Chess Federation made money from that tournament and nobody has said anything to them. His American passport was never properly revoked and was valid when they took it from him at the airport in Japan. He's got a right to be angry.

So, what is being done to help him? Why not invite Boris Spassky and other top chess players to Japan and have a mini chess tournament outside the detention grounds? The Russian Embassy just besdie the Tokyo Amrican Club would make another good location. If he is to stay in Japan, he needs publicity and fast.

I am not a stamp collector and have very little interest in philately but how about some country, perhaps Russia, France, Iceland, the Philippines, Germany coming out with a series of stamps one for each World Champion: a sheet of stamps, one for Alekhine, Botvinnik, Capablanca, Euwe, Fischer, Karpov, Kasparov, Lasker, Morphy, Petrosian, Smyslov, Spassky, Steinitz, Tal? Maybe the U.N could do something like that. Just an idea. I do not believe the United States would do which a thing, but U.S. Post Office could be petitioned.

Or maybe he can try becoming something else, as a painter, or as a rockstar, or whatever when he grew up. Not everybody have to be a popstar though! right?

The charges against Fischer are unfair and insignificant and should be dropped! At one time he was the pride and joy of the Free World. Even though he has a controversial personality, he should be pardoned.

His games have literally given pleasure to thousands of chess players worldwide. I was aware of Bobby Fischer in the late 50s through the 60s and way before he played Spassky the first time in 1972 in Reykjavik. I recall watching him play at the Manhattan Chess Club in the early 1960s. His chess playing performance was spectacular even at this early date. Bobby had won the U.S. Chess Championship eight times.

Miyoko Watai, President of the Japan Chess Association, who Bobby has known since 1973, has come out in favor of Bobby's release. She was the only female player, of two chess players chosen by the Japan Chess Association, who played Fischer after he became World Champion. Miyoko Watai and Bobby have remained in contact, corresponded and travelled together for more than 30 years and have lived together for the past four years. There has been talk of Bobby and Miyoko getting married.

Bobby Fischer has now reached the venerable age of 61 and, even though you may disagree with him, even though he can be unpredictable, inconsiderate and brash, he is due respect and compassion. Bobby should be granted political asylum.

Fischer now languishes in a jail in Japan; the Olympic games are at this moment being played in Greece. The Olympic games, it is said, were founded by Zeus, ruler of the gods on Mount Olympus and thrower of thunderbolts. One point that has been long forgotten; the original Olympic games not only emphasized bodily strength and physical agility but also eloquence and sharpness of intellect. Artists, poets, musicians and playwrites wore the laurel wreath, and perhaps one might add chess players to the list of games representing a sharp intellect. Bobby has shot to stardom and scaled to the heights sitting next to the gods: Steinitz, Capablanca, Alekhine, Botvinnik, Tal, Petrosian, and Spassky. Fischer has been called the greatest player ever. Bobby should be considered in the spirit of good sportsmanship and fairness due him. Pardon Bobby!

Robert J. (Bobby) Fischer represents one of the few cultural icons of the twentieth century. He must be immediately released and given political asylum in a friendly country. The ridiculous charges against him must be dismissed.
On July 15, 2004, Robert J. (Bobby) Fischer, World Chess Champion (1972-1975), was detained by Japanese officials, his U.S. passport, which had not expired, was confiscated, and he was put in the jail at Narita Airport in Tokyo Japan. He does not want to return to the United States and seeks political asylum. Pressure must be put on Japanese authorities who must gather the wisdom and courage to stand up to the United States of America.

Most probably the Japanese have started the process of handing Bobby over to the Americans. Obviously the authorities want Bobby to receive as little media coverage as possible hoping few people will pay attention to his situation, and eventually he will disappear ending up silenced and behind bars. All this must be turned around. It would be great to see more people discussing Bobby and playing chess (Fischerandom). Some country, perhaps Iceland or maybe Russia, should even come out with a stamp commemorating World Chess Champion, Robert J. Fischer.
 
Bobby is guilty of what?

Due to economic sanctions imposed on Yugoslavia, President George Bush, Sr. issued an executive order restricting Fischer from traveling to Yugoslovia. Ergo, Robert J. Fischer is guilty of playing a return chess match with his former opponent, Boris Spassky, in the country of Yugoslavia disobeying a directive not to travel in that country. This happened in 1992. (Incidentally, the grandmaster and former world champion, Boris Spassky, has taken up residence in France and, to my knowledge, the French have never restricted his freedom to travel.) In that return match Fischer won $3.65 million with five loses and ten wins.

Fischer has broken no law (See http://www.ishipress.com/bobbybak.htm on Sam Sloan&#E2;Pcs website). Howard Goldowsky comments: &#E2;P C;If that match did break the law, then all of the officers of the United States Chess Federation need to go to jail because the USCF purchased more than $500,000 worth of chess books from Yugoslavia during that time period (after receiving an "opinion of counsel" that it was all right to do so).&#E2;P D;
 
Fischer has a passion for fairness. It is his outspokenness that has upset the sensibilities of the American government. Fischer may be a chess genius, but he has never been a spokesperson for the American capitalist system. Fischer has lived outside of America long enough to realize that the world hates America because of its aggressively expansive, neocolonial policies. The United States government looks everywhere but within itself and has an unwillingness to come to terms with the root causes of 9/11. Fischer has openly declared we deserve what we got on that date.

Sadly, Fischer has become anti-Semitic believing that &#E2;P C;dirty Jews&#E2;P D; are behind the world&#E2;Pcs inequities. After listening to a few of his live radio global commentaries, however, if you substitute &#E2;P C;corporate agenda&#E2;P D; or even &#E2;P C;fascist bastards,&#E2;P D; for &#E2;P C;dirty Jews&#E2;P D; then what Bobby says makes sense. It appears more people, all over the world, are coming to Fischer&#E2;Pcs conclusions. Nevertheless, Fischer&#E2;Pcs outspokenness remains an anathema, and the United States government wants him squelched.

Between 1999 and 2003 Fischer gave 21 live radio interviews, all from the Philippines except one from Hungary and one from Iceland. (They can all be found on Fischer&#E2;Pcs website.) One must conclude that, if something is not done soon, Bobby Fischer may join American&#E2;Pcs political prisoners, i.e., those who have spoken out against America&#E2;Pcs rapacious policies. Here follows a passage from Fischer&#E2;Pcs global commentaries from his website illustrating the point:

Bobby Fischer has a right to feel disgruntled. One of Fischer's attorneys, Andrew Davis, reflected on Fischer's early years, "Bobby never made any money. Everyone who dealt with him when he was fourteen, fifteen, used him. If there was any money to be made, they took it. They'd call him up and say, 'Come on out here, we'll pay your bills and we'll give you a couple of bucks on the side.' And when it was over, they'd stick him with a huge hotel bill. Here's a fifteen-year-old kid with an enormous bill, no money, all alone, crying." As Howard Goldowsky points out, &#E2;P C;yet, for all these years, Bobby Fischer lived in poverty. He lived for years in a neighborhood in Brooklyn where few white men dared to walk. (I [Howard Goldowsky] went by the place a few weeks ago, but I did so in the daytime, not at night.) He also lived for years in a 5x8 cubical in the YMCA on 34 Street in New York City.&#E2;P D;

Bobby became the World Chess Champion and then got ripped off by America. Bobby&#E2;Pcs personal belongings have been stolen and put up for auction. His books have been plagiarized. A movie, illegally using his name, In Search of Bobby Fischer, was made about a youngster, Josh Waitzkin, who has some chess instincts but is no world champion.

Indeed Fischer has been mistreated by Americans. His own account in the small pamphlet I Was Tortured in the Pasadena Jailhouse! found on the web, (http://www.daveporn.org/bobby.html) sounds not too different from the recent atrocities which occurred at Abu Ghraib Prison in Iraq and, as well, in America&#E2;Pcs own vast prison industry. For three days in May of 1981 Fischer was incarcerated on false bank robbing charges, made to walk around naked and not allowed telephone calls.

Bobby was born in Chicago. He grew up with his mother, Regina Wender Fischer, and his half-sister, Joan. Regina, who spoke eight languages, struggled, became a trained nurse, and eventually completed a medical degree. For years the Fischers were hounded by the FBI causing Regina to lose a series of jobs and live near poverty. The FBI finally concluded that they had no case.
(It is interesting that Bobby&#E2;Pcs half-sister, Joan Targ, and her daughter, Elizabeth Targ, have been involved with controversy. Joan was married to Russell Targ, the son of William Targ, publisher of SRI (Stanford Research Institute's investigation of claims into psychic abilities) which is dispised by CSICOP, the Committee for Scientific Investigation into the Paranornal. Their daughter, Elizabeth Targ, did signficant work in the area of distance healing.)
A German woman, Petra Dautov, corresponded with Bobby Fischer and a friendship ensued during her stay in Los Angeles. Then for a while he visited her in her hometown in Germany. She wrote a book, now out of print and difficult to find, Bobby Fischer, Wie er wirklich ist, Ein Jahr mit dem Schachgenie [Bobby Fischer, Who He Really is, One Year with the Chess Genius]. Judging from what little has been written about Petra&#E2;Pcs book, Bobby Fischer is a likeable person who shuns journalists.
 
Known as the greatest chess player ever, at the age of six he learned how to play chess. By the age of 15 he became the youngest chess Grandmaster. His first real break come in 1956 by winning the U.S. Junior Championship. Two years later he became U.S. champion. He has had many brilliant games. In that same year, 1958, against grandmaster Robert Byrne, Fischer played what has been dubbed &#E2;P C;The Game of the Century.&#E2;P D;

Being U.S. champion gave Fischer the right to play in the Interzonals. Fischer was up against a tight web of Russian players. Nobody suspected Fischer would even qualify. Fischer suspected Russians pre-arranged games that eliminated non-Russian players. In 1969 Fischer played in the Candidates Tournament paving the road to world championship. Fischer&#E2;Pcs astonishing string of wins, trouncing all opponents, have not been repeated since by top world players. Petrosian finally ended Fischer&#E2;Pcs unheard of score, but he easily qualified.
It was 1972. The Reykjavic World Champion Chess match did more than anything to popularize chess in America at the height of the cold war era. Before that time, Russia had dominated the chess world. Fischer now faced the World Champion, Boris Spassky, in Reykjavic, Iceland. Spassky, himself, was not totally appreciated by established Communist bureaucracy. Boris Spassky did not toe the ideological line: he spoke his mind, did not endorse the pro-communist American activist Angela Davis and he enjoyed literature especially Dostoyevsky novels which were disapproved by the Soviet state.

It seemed likely that Fischer would not appear in Reykjavic. Bobby had never defeated Spassky. The tournament was supposed to start on Sunday, but Fischer failed to show. Twice American reporters drove the shy Fischer away from Kennedy Airport. An English promoter came forward with a large prize fund. Fischer arrived at Reykjavik two days late. He made demands about the lighting and complained to the organizers. He failed to show up for the second game. Tension was in the air. At first Fischer was behind, but he quickly caught up and continued an unbeatable winning streak.

After Fischer defeated Spassky, Spassky kept on playing high level chess, remarried a French woman and moved to France. He has become an ambassador of chess. After the tournament Fischer lingered in Reykjavik for a while and returned to New York. When Mayor Lindsay offered Fischer the keys to the city, Bobby quipped, "I live here, what do I need a key for?" Bobby became a celebrity overnight and the first American world chess champion since Paul Morphy did it in the 1850s.

Fischer for a while took part in celebrity limelight, paled around with Bob Hope but, at the same time, turned down offers from the likes of Warner Brothers. He wanted to visit the White House but was snubbed; a Russian gymmast was invited instead.

Several years later, disputing over conditions, Fischer refused to defend his title; consequently, FIDE (the World Chess Federation) awarded the title to Karpov by default.

He gave most of his earnings to a California cult and then broke with them. He began to vanish from public view becoming virtually a total recluse. He began studying tracts such as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, an alleged plan for Jewish world dominance.

In 1992 Fischer came out of hiding and challenged Spassky to a return match. The U.S. Department of State forbade Fischer from playing in Yugoslavia. The match took place anyway. He has been a fugitive on the run ever since living in Budapest and Japan.
 
Fischer, who claims to have given up the old chess, has done a lot to make chess more interesting. He has patented the "Fischer chess clock," eliminating time-pressure scrambles which can cause psychological rattling. Players will never again be desperately short of time. Fischer's chess clock has been adopted at international events. Bobby also has developed 'Fischerandom Chess&#E2;Pc which sidesteps the arduous task of memorizing volumes of lines of opening play and making chess more of a game of skill than one of rote. It may take a while but Fischerandom Chess (F.R. Chess) is catching on.
 
Chess cannot be called an American sport. Concerning the popular American sport, football, the novelist Irwin Shaw has commented, &#E2;P C;If the players were armed with guns, there wouldn&#E2;Pct be stadiums large enough to hold the crowds.&#E2;P D; Though chess can be considered a combative game of thought played over a board, it is non-violent. The only thing that ever gets battered around is one&#E2;Pcs ego. It is devoid of physical violence. My guess, the spatial intricacies required for chess overwhelm the attention span of most Americans.
Fischer never had a formal education. Arthur Koestler coined the word "mimophant" to describe Bobby Fisher's character, a cross between a sensitive mimosa plant and a stomping elephant. Although at times he can be a gentleman, he also can be unappreciative. His games, however, are never showy but always jewels of precision and harmony.

Look anywhere and American culture is on the decline, and so is chess. The game of chess cannot be separated from culture. The artist who gave us readymades, Marcel Duchamp, has noted that "while all artists are not chess players, all chess players are artists." The old Russian Grandmaster and World Champion, Mikhail Botvinnik, once opined, &#E2;P C;Chess is a part of culture and if a culture is declining then chess too will decline.&#E2;P D; The top New York Times music critic, Harold Schonberg, has written, "If chess were as popular as music, if as many people responded to its subtleties and nuances, the masterpieces of Steinitz, Capablanca, Alekhine, Batvinnik, and Fischer would not be held far below the masterpieces of Bach, Mozart, Beethoven, and Brahms."

Back in 1992, after Bobby&#E2;Pcs return match with Boris Spassky, Murray N. Rothbard wrote an article, &#E2;P C;Bobby Fischer: The Lynching of the Returning American Hero,&#E2;P D; making a good case then to pardon Bobby Fischer. Mr. Rothbard noted, instead of welcoming a returning chess player after not having played in public for seventeen years, how the media, especially the New York Times and the Washington Post went out of their way to denigrate Bobby. Back then Mr. Rothbard wondered how far we have gone &#E2;P C;to forge the chains of totalitariansim in our society?&#E2;P D; It is time we pardon Fischer now. It has been over twelve years since economic sanctions had been imposed on Yugoslavia.

Let us not completely lose our culture and our humanity. Bobby Fischer&#E2;Pcs games have given pleasure to countless thousands of chess players worldwide. Let us give life to Bobby Fischer the person. Free Bobby Fischer!

The Illuminatus Trilogy never made it to the movies, but there was an Illuminatus opera which was performed in England. Some of links on his website are worthwhile. I interviewed Robert Anton Wilson in Dublin, Ireland a while back in 1984 when I was living in Paris. I now live in Vermont. Somehow I have stayed in contact with Robert Anton Wilson over the years. We share some of the same interests. He's older, somewhat unknown, but a person thinks for himself.

If you are interested, check out Alfred Korzybski's book "Science and Sanity." Korzybski is known for the adage, "the map is not the territory" and therefore language can only describe the structure of reality. Korsybski, a Polish count and engineer, has had a lot of influence on Robert Anton Wilson and on my own thinking as well.

Most of my cutting and pasting comes from looking around the internet. Also I recently read "Bobby Fischer Goes to War" by two English blokes. I have your pamphlet "I Was Tortured in the Pasadena Jailhouse" which no doubt actually occurred. (Witness our own prison industrial complex and Abu Ghraib. The people who ran Abu Ghraib were recruited from America's prisons.) Also I have "Bobby Fischer: My 60 Memorial Games" along with a modest collection of chess books. Somehow I was able to get Petra Dautov's book from a dealer in Switzerland. My German is not really that good, though I lived in German for a while in the 1970s.

I am working on a biography of Boris Vian. Vian was French and a dropout engineer who wrote novels, antiwar songs, and knew a lot about jazz. He got in trouble with the French authorities over his song "Le Deserteur" which came out during the French-Algerian conflict.

USHIKU, Japan Mar 23, 2005 — Chess legend Bobby Fischer was freed Thursday after nearly nine months in a Japanese detention center and immediately headed for the airport to board a flight to his new home, Iceland.

Fischer, sporting a beard and a baseball cap pulled down low over his face, left the immigration detention center in this city on Tokyo's outskirts early Thursday.

He was accompanied by his fiancee, Miyoko Watai, the head of Japan's chess association, and officials from the Icelandic Embassy. He was scheduled to catch an afternoon flight to Denmark en route to Iceland.

Anyway, this IM is "hooked" on Z-Chess. He said after about 10 games he began to see the depth and beauty of it and could never again have the same appreciation for the "old stuff ".
"Players are now so bored with chess, they degenerate it by playing perverted variations. Why not try a game of Z-Chess and get hooked on what's really inexhaustible. I'd like to hear comments of a GM after playing at least 25 serious games. I think I'd hear something like: Wow! I don't believe I'll ever be able to master this game." These words from the same IM. But don't take his words, see it for yourself. Zillionsofgames. com already has a computer program for Z-Chess ran by the "zillions" engine but it is only for beginners. The best way to learn the game is by going to one of the websites (probably maintained by the inventor), and print out (and enlarge) the board if you want to play it.      This year, British Columbia will celebrate its 150th year. It has been said that its beauty made it to be the best place on earth to live. Is this for real or just a fact?
     People came to Canada with full of dreams thinking that this is the land of promises. Promises that will give them chance to fulfill their aspirations in life. In reality, this is not the best place to live. Everybody here is busy making ends meat. Trees here are not bearing money to pick it up. In as much as possible you must have three to four jobs to pay your taxes, mortgages, car loans and others. You don’t even have time to enjoy. And mind you this situation will become worst after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. If you have heard and seen those statistical data through our modern technology such as; internet, television, radios and newspapers, those were just factual information that hasn’t been proven throughout the Olympic history. Many of those countries who’ve hosted this kind of event suffered from deep debts. To name a few are Montreal who just happened to pay their debt after three decades, Salt Lake City who’s until now on their way of solving the economic downfall, Turin, Italy and many others. It’s the taxpayers who are handling the problems created by bureaucracy and managed by the greediness of the government officials and the elite groups who happens to be part of the International Olympic Committee.
     What’s happening now to China is an eye opening for all nations. Demonstrations on streets can be seen around the world, mass killings and many others. These were the results of abusive empowerment of people in position. In Vancouver, you can see more of the result of the Olympic preparations in the east-side of the city with many homeless citizen. With these, people should be aware of the false impressions created by the VANOC officials on Olympic venue sites. Human deficit has been created by unscrupulous government officials of British Columbia who have failed in social policy on its inhabitants.
     People of all nations, it’s time for us again to fight back. We don’t need high explosives or heavy devices. We only need “MASS CONSCIOUSNESS”, the power of mind intent. This is the most effective way to prove our worth. This is a tool to change weather patterns. Yes, February 2010 will be rainy, foggy and windstorms may occur to southern coastal regions of British Columbia if we will join together using our mind. We could completely wash-out Olympic Organizers and its allies. This will be a great humiliation to the whole world.
