(There's an arcane art history joke for you.)

In the spirit of Miss M3--who had the good taste to mention Oscar Wilde--"Charlie tango teakettle barbecue!" (I think Bill's the only one who might know where I got that quote.)

I periodically clean my keekat's teeth, an activity which they seem to enjoy about as much as when I trim their claws. On the other hand, neither activity costs anything, as opposed to the $400 it cost to have my Tboy's front tooth removed after he broke it gnawing on something (I still wonder if that was truly necessary, or if it just was to generate profits for the cat dentist, though she *was* very nice).

In any case, I hope Miss Kills returns to her sunny self soon! And that most hated men in rock article was funny, though I wondered if there were any reputations left to demolish...is there anyone they *do* like?

I thought the orphan joke crossed a line. Someone mentioned that he should have said "Irish churchbells" instead, as that's what Hellboy's gun is made of.

Edit: Lilly, how do you like THAT for arcane?

Whoo, sorry for the delay...
re. Musketeers - I no longer work for the company and even if I did, I think there's little harm in mentioning some scenes I did:
I did quite a lot, as Team Leader for Pete, but I did some assist-animating for Mickey and Minnie as well. There's a scene where Minnie comes down the steps of her palace and curtsies to the troubador before he breaks into song. I did all breakdowns and all inbetweens (rough and clean) for that entire scene (Minnie AND turtle). I also did, among eithers, the final line of Pete's song ("Why'd the music stop?"). Honestly...to list EVERYTHING I did would take ages ;)
Thanks for the Kujo edumacatin ;)

I didn't make a comment on the last Livewire, as it so relentlessly drab and dull. But can anyone decode the first balloon's plot exposition explosion?
http://livewire.keenspace.com/
Sure sounds like naturalistic dialogue though.

From Sinfest:
Dick Cheney insists on link between Al Qaeda and Kevin Bacon. Al Qaeda was trained by the CIA which was created by Harry Truman who dropped the bomb which was conceived by the Manhattan Project which was a movie starring John Lithgow who was in Footloose with Kevin Bacon.

Lamont Cranston, "The Shadow." The magician who uses his powers to "cloud people's minds." It sounds like Davey's taken yet another sharp left across traffic without signaling.

Neat! I used to dream of being an animator. Then I realized I'd go mad pretty quickly, as I don't have the right temperment for that kind of excruciatingly exact work. I admire those who do.

Looking forward to the next "As If!" I have a notion about what would be the perfect punishment for Rosie, and it does not involve wild dingoes, or harm of *any* sort. Hee hee, get the kid where she *really* lives...

RE: Dullwire

SHE'S GIVING HIM MONOPOLY MONEY! LOLOL ROTLF X3 XD X3
alternatively: worst. comic money. ever.

a sad thing happened to me today. (i mean, besides the Russia incident) i was walking in grandma's neighborhood (which is better than the ghetto i live in) and a small tree MEOWED at me. in short, there was a small white/black/orange kitty girl clinging to it, i got her down, and she was all shakey, and small, and shrieking. someone left a bit of water, and cat food nearby, but no one could tell me who she belonged to, or if she'd been stranded. i wanted to take her home, but i couldn't, i had nothing to carry her safely with (and there are many, many dogs in my ghetto that i didn't want to fight) and plus mom would've made me throw her out anyway. (she didn't look like the healthiest thing ever) so i just got to feel bad. (there are no nice shelters here..) i kept petting her and giving her a bit of the cat food until she felt asleep on a branch and i left.

Negs:

"Lamont Cranston, "The Shadow."
If it was ANYbody but DVK, I might've got that ref. I've never seen him refer to anything earlier than Sonic or the Power Rangers in his works.

(Note to those who are not Phrack Whores: Davey is in his mid 30s. Yes, those are the earliest known references in his works. He was 28 and pretending he was a Power Ranger)

I wonder where he ripped that off. And how soon Davey and Goofy will be fighting alongside Doc Savage against Dr Robotnik?
(But I guess that Sonic is too "juvenile" for his tastes now)
Maybe they'll fight Tinkerbell!!

It's possible that he caught a showing of the somewhat underrated movie with... one o' thet Baldwin crowd in it. And PETER BOYLE! I imagine the ability to cloud mens' minds and make flappers swoon would have great appeal to Gontlet.

I'm pretty sure I know what he means by "memeber", but Lovecraft fan that I am, it conjures an unsavoury image.

Zef:
That's sad! Poor kitty. Why wouldn't your mother let you get another cat?

On my way to the park Tues, the highway exit had a huge, and I mean poster-sized, "Lost Cat" sign. A giant pic of a Persian with a phone number. The onramp had the same sign. Damn, I thought, they really love that cat.
I instantly get depressed at any kind of "Lost Pet" sign. I know how I'd feel if one of my kids got lost.
When I went to pick Killsy up from her teeth cleaning, a smaller version of the same sign was on their bulletin board. It was a very cute picture when seen small, but I saw how the cat got lost: They'd posed her in the mailbox. I assume that she was an outdoor kitty. That's never good.
Then I saw the address: Buff Cap Road.
That's where my friend Kevin used to live. They have 2 very feisty terriers, both very capable of defending themselves. But they ran around in a fenced enclosure when they went outside. It's very rural, and in eastern CT that means coyotes.
I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think that family will see their beautiful little girl ever again.

Moral: It's a bad world. Keep your kids inside.

Note on the ads:
I mentioned Sonic the Hedgehog, and suddenly, all my ads involve Sonic.
Vut you guys mention ads that I never see.
Are the Google ads tied not just to what we talk about as a group, but as to what we talk about individually? Are they THAT personalized?

Or, to put it differently, Oreck 8-lb vaccuum on Cancun vacation with a Toyota rental car loan GEICO insurance Viagra?

I'd agree too there. We've kept our cats inside, and Edward lived to be a ripe old 15 before he died, and Wooly can't stand the outdoors. Edward was deaf and large and white, and he was pretty cool with just about everything. He loved car rides. Wooly can't even stand going out on the step.

I really, really mind it when I see a cat dead on the side of the road...

I see Sonic.

My kitty is an indoor-outdoor kitty (and I've been told that now that I'm away, she's almost exclusively outdoor.) But we live in a quiet cul-de-sac where the fastest cars go 5 miles an hour, and I've seen enough cats easily outrun dogs to not be worried about that. The biggest danger is other cats. Reese is forever coming home with scratches on her head and shoulders. That's why we turn the hose on any other cats we see, and why we always get her shots done perfectly on schedule. When she was younger, she used to get trapped in trees a lot, and I'd have to climb up and save her. One time she leaped out of a branch right into my arms, which was scary, but I managed to catch her okay. Now that she's older, she's too refined for such silly nonsense.

DUDE. DID YOU KNOW YOU CAN RENT INVADER ZIM AT BLOCKBUSTER?

You know what? Monkeys are really nifty. I like monkeys. I have the 1968 National Geographic with the article about Jane Goodall living with chimpanzees - which are great apes, not really monkeys, but still! I stole that magazine from my grandmother. It's not my fault. The monkeys made me do it.

There used to be an organ grinder in the mall where I went when I was a kid. He had a monkey that would take coins out of your hand and tip his hat. Well, push it back on his head with his paw, but the idea was there. Cute little bugger. Wish I knew what kind of monkey that was.

Okay, Google, do yer stuff.
