As this topic was ranked as high priority but we have limited resources for translation, I was wondering about memory translation software. I don't know if any CMS (content managements systems) for the Web have this built in (as do some enterprise CMS); or perhaps we could invest in separate software?
Memory translation software 'remembers' phrases or words that have previously been translated -- a kind of computer-assisted translation. Obviously a human still needs to check the text, but over time the 'memory' bank of translations is built up requiring less and less effort to produce translations. Translators can also use the software as a check of terminology, which could improve consistency across the site.
I don't have experience of using this software or any idea of costs, but thought it might be worth considering.
