Hi Aimee. I joined the club last year and I'm over in Wainui. Whereabouts are you? I'm down Upper Fitzherbert Rd. If you're thinking about joining the club I'd definitely recommend it, a nice friendly bunch of people and some great activities.

I'm glad to see this space used now! Rachel you must have very good nerves + confidence to go with that amount of preparation! I've seen people stuff up even when they prepared + had a reader, after all we are only humans, not computers. Some of us find it easier to cope with pressure. Finn is especially muddy because he is 'tuff' and lives it rough, meaning - no cover! He rolls the mud on an inch thick and that keeps him warm (it seems) and of course the reserves he has stored up in his gut and other body parts. And Coralie - shortest day means the start of winter! The days get longer but sea temperatures are still dropping meaning: colder air around NZ, no real spring before September! So keep hoping - it will get better before christmas - only 5 month to go! I will watch you all on dressage day - hopefully a sunshiny one!

hey this discussion page is really hotting up now. Great stuff. I had the oldies (retired horses) uncovered all last winter and they were fine, but have weakened this year - it seems much colder. Now they have covers on so they will be stuck with them until it warms up. Yes the mud does keep them warm, but it's hard to get it off to ride. That's why I only leave the unridden horses uncovered. The horses are much tougher than we think they are - it's us who're soft. See everyone on Sunday dressaging away.

Nice to be reminded of how much winter we have left-will I survive till September!!. It's really head down tail up stuff, but good to see the horses still in good condition mid-winter. And a big thanks to Pam for giving the new horse a floating lesson. She is the floating queen! All the best for Sunday!

Good on Pam - she fixed my horse. Never had a problem again after she showed me how to do it. And fixed 2 others that I know of and now yours Jill. She'll have to charge soon. Could be a good business. It's just so much easier knowing you can take your horse out and not have to worry about how long it's going to take to get it on the float.

Hope you all enjoyed the dressage. Or is it recovering? What about the flooding? After a week of mud wrestling, jill and horses have escaped next door to some real grass! Great relief. New horse shaping up well so far. Need more floating practice tho'. Would like to hear some views on going barefoot. Cheers

Talk to our Karina, Jill- she's our local expert on barefoot. Jean and Glen also go barefoot sucessfully. My horse is too much of a wuss and I ride on roads and stones a lot. Just lost a shoe today and the horse can't even be ridden as she is sore. I just hope that she will be ok once shoe is back on and that she hasn't pricked her foot with a nail. Hope to see lots of people down helping set up the arena tomorrow. 2nd day of dressage is next week. I might have to miss - depends if I can get a farrier before then.

Nice to see someone on line again. Isn't it a pain when we have foot problems. So unhelpful. Sorry, can't come to set up today, but will help when I can. Just got my test from Rachael, so will study!!

Hello there members of Te Marua Horse Club. I am here having a nosey at your awesome website, was directed here by Lisa M. I must say that your website if fantastic and puts my newsletters to shame. I am the president/secretary of the very newly started Central Hawkes Bay Adult Riding Club(CHBARC), we are slowly and surely getting on our feet, we only started in May 07 and is a real learning curve for myself as I have ever only been on club committees and been TOLD what to do not the other way round, well you know what I mean. Once again, well done on a fantastic looking club with incredible facilities for you to all use, well done it is a credit to you. Well you know where we are if you ever want to have a overnight(or two)farm stay close to the beach. Look forward to meeting you at ARC events. Katherine

Hi Katherine - your newsletter was great, so have no fear there!
Hi Aimee, I am from Wainui and have joined the club as the website seemed to show a lot of activity. Was stoked to get my welcome to the club call from Rachel as well. Now I just need to get along to something :0)

Hi Kathryn, Great to hear of a new club in our sunny Hawkes Bay. The fruit bowl of NZ. All the best for your endeavors. That overnight at the beach idea sounds like a must.

Hi Renee, the club grounds are open for dressage practice from 9.30 am onwards. The arena will be set up then, and anyone can come and use it - if someone is in there you will have to wait, but usually it's empty. There will be lessons that day too, but they will not be in the arena, so there should be plenty of room for you.

I would like the know the answer to Jill's question re the WEG - I think they are all over now, but did not see a single bit on TV. Have been looking in my skywatch and can't see anything there either. I know we can't have done any good at any of the events, but boy wouldn't it be great to see some of it! We had an eventing team, an individual show jumper, a vaulter and a team in the endurance and heard nothing on the news except for where the eventing team was placed after the dressage and cross country and then nothing more. We should petition TV one two and three and sky and tell them this is not good enough. Has anyone seen any sign of any delayed coverage even?

Just had a brilliant idea. - I've just submitted a query with tvnz asking when are we going to get coverage of the WEG. Why don't you all do the same - maybe they'll listen. I went to tvnz's website and found the contact me and filled in a feedback form.
