That's probably another reason why your MSTs have escaped his wrath - you HELPED him with a story, Negs.
The final result isn't so much gruesome as laughable. I'm sure his INTENTION was to stop you in your tracks and go 'whoa.. sick evil!'. But that accompanying picture only induces giggles. The disembodied head.. with the tongue and the...teeheeheeheehee....
At least Planeswalker had some action. which is always where Gontie is his funniest. (and he seems to have taken it down....pity. The mugger scene was gold)

That might be true, if he knew it was me. He might or might not have known that the MiSTer known as Jen White is actually me, but he did not know that the person critting his story was also me. plus, this was a few years after he went bonkers, and the issue had grown cold by then.

Maybe it was my beautiful blue eyes?

Bill:

Sadly, the car was none of my doing, but I did know several people who worked on the alternative energy car team. It's an amazing piece of work, to be sure.

However, if you ever see anything about an autonomous helicopter from Rose, THAT I worked on. ^_~

Ernst:
"Took almost a day for it to come to the surface-- Art Spiegelman's Maus."

Point well made. When I wrote that, I wasn't thinking of Maus, but I was aware that people have done very dark, emotionally accurate comic books (CROW: They're graphic novels!). Maus is the best example. I read that when it (literally) was first published, as an insert in RAW magazine (which Spiegleman co-founded and co-edited). But it takes about 2 pages to forget that the characters of Maus are drawn as mice. His style is simple, but perfectly evocative: You quickly learn who's who, and the whole run of emotions can be depicted with a single line on a face.

Gonty is trying to do a comic strip on this subject, featuring the most personality-less and inartictulately-drawn anthropomorphic creatures this side of--I dunno, Garfield. And Garfield doesn't have miscarriages with his lasagna.

Negs:
Thanks for the recommendation of "Cat's Kingdom"! I read the first 2 chapters last night. The photos are great! And I'm glad that my family numbers just 2 kitties. And not 150.

I meant that Garfield has an extremely limited range of emotional expression. Not that Daveykins draws on the level of Jim Davis and his army of assistants. Just to clear that up.

Oh yeah, Davey's updating almost daily! Today, we find out that he likes Fox News, "big screeen television," and run-on sentences. And, as usual, that's about all we learn. The funniest line is the second-to-last one, if you think about it.

Heavens, I hope I didn't give the impression I thought the Gont was uttering a valid expression of artistic urges! The BEST thing that can be said of him is he's a sterling example of the evils of an overinflated ego: The Living Cautionary Tale! Two bits a gander!

The worst that can be said of him... well, I'm not goin' there in a public forum. Previous comments from others have hinted at it.

I got up to date with Gonter.. i don't know, When a japanese/mexican family entered the toy store, i waited loooots, until i was fairly sure the girls (about 4 or 5 yrs old)were speaking japanese before i decided to speak to them in the little japanese i know (i basically showed them a toy puppy and kitty saying, kore, koneko, kore, inu, kawaii, desu ne? [desu ne being something only women say, but i was nervous]). it was fun, the mother was the one who listened to me (and the asian part of the family, the dad was purebred latino) and she looked like i had just flipped her off. (i did worry about the possibility of she mishearing me to something completely inadequate) and she just nodded and ran to her husband who was in the register. i started to slink away, and he called me, my blood froze. then he just asked 'where'd you learn japanese?' and i had to say that i knew next to nothing. he said it was good. hee.

now, i'd feel that if i was asian (or latino, as i am but i was being hypotetical) and when i came in a place and someone greeted me in a language that i may or might not speak, i'd feel it'd be a little rude. stereotyping. okay, okay, she did say guuuteeen morning, which sounds more like german.

But it's gonterman we're talking about, so hee, i guess i just wanted to share my story.

And, aging 'virtually, mentally' or not 200 years and having a working brain? people at 70 are doing all sorts of crazy stuff, you'd think, virtual age or not, that girl has to be bound to depends and such.

Lord, lord, lord. I don't think I'll ever understand the Gonterfascination.

I think it's like David Lynch movies, or being gay. You're either born with the "liking it" gene or you're not.

Speaking of David Lynch, did anyone ever see that Darren Aronovsky film, Pi?

See how desperate I am to change the subject?

I don't know if I so much "like" Gonterman's works - but I am quite confused and fascinated with it - almost like people's fascination with an accident wreck maybe?

I read the whole comic earlier this morning and I still can't quite figure out where he's going with it (but that may be me being thick).

Where's his older stuff at? It must be 3 or more years since I've seen it. When I get some free time (and not at work) I'd like to go through it.

Ah, I *thought* this would be a good book for you, Bill! Glad you like it. Have you reached the part about Nibu's sexual exploits? I swear, I know people like that!

Ugh. I've just had one of those "reading the livejournal and coming to loathe the person" experiences. Quite unpleasant. People are so ill-mannered.

It's not anyone here. Everyone here is nice. In fact, this is the only place I can go online and know that people will be nice.

I have my own livejournal, but I'm not providing the link. It's all repetitive nonsensical chittering about how far along I am with The Novel. I realized today that I never go more than an hour without thinking about The Novel. It's like having a baby in my belly, except it's in my brain.

In other news, I've been avoiding Harry Potter fanaffliction like the plague I’m sure it is, but I've found some cool art sites.

Everyflavour is done in "American" style. There are spoilers for Prisoner of Azkaban, but not for the fourth and fifth books.

Daydream is in manga style. No spoilers at all.

My fave is the Seekers pic. I heart the Harry/Cho/Cedric love triangle, and how Draco does not get entangled in all this Seekerlove because his girlfriends must submit blood tests for approval.

You know people who interupt copulating couples by sticking their heads between their legs? You have interesting friends!

Marc - if you want REALLY old stuff, there's http://www.commuterbarnacle.com/gonterman/ - this has most of his 'crappy meds' period. As for more recent stuff or stuff missing from his own site, there's the Sisto Files, which has Negaduck's mstings of some of his comics.

(maybe we'll have to get a quick 'n' dirty forum board where the local Gonternuts can go and take our wry commentary. ;p)
And Marc, the 'watching a train wreck' fascination is more than a shared feeling around here. It's why I watch him, anyway ;)

Would you've put that bottom panel in there? Nice composition, Dough Boy; that really provides a lot of visual information. It's the Butt-Cam!
