Don't know Tim. There does seem to be something suspicious about the whole thing. I just finished watching Spinal Tap and there are stark similarities between this situation and the Drummer issues that they have experienced.
Hmmmmmm. . . . somebody call Oliver Stone !!!

Dave I hope you are feeling better. My question is, what is Tricks doing to their bass players?

Thanks to all for your prayers and thoughts. I'm home at last and under the loving and capable care of Debbie (The Hospital staff was cool but it's just not the high quality I'm used to).
Hope to see you all next weekend. I'm hoping to be back at my day job by Tuesday or Wednesday but I'll be resting-up most of the time between now and then.
Thanks again, BASSBEAST

Let me guess, without seeing these pics before:
The first is people standing in line at Park West for the Wednesday King Crimson show. The second is people standing in line at Park West for the Thursday King Crimson show. They were taken by the guy who does the blog at dgm.com, and they must be posted there. Am I right?
I forgot about him going around taking pictures and chatting with people while we were in line. I never checked for the pictures; I assumed he would have better-looking people than us to put online.
I did buy the board-recording from Thursday night's show at Park West, and I was just cranking it in my car on my way home from work, just now.

Hey Tim! (and All!)
We missed ya last night. I didn't press anyone to show up, because I knew that lots of people are camping and doing "end of summer" activities with family and friends. I knew I had enough musicians to keep things rockin' steady until late. And as far as "onlookers", there were just enough to make a good crowd, but we couldn't handle too many more people in our tiny yard. The crowd was mostly friends who tagged along with the musicians, and a bunch of my neighbors who wandered over. It was a great party!
I didn't get everything set up until almost 5 in the afternoon. After I got sound going at 5, we had a long set from my son's band, a short set from Bill Roelof & friends, and then a long set from Opus.
I didn't get to play until about 9; I was roadie up until then (from 10 in the morning).
We did a long set with the current Tricks and diddled around for another good hour with acoustic stuff - Steve was too tired from drumming about 5 hours with 3 bands.
Finished up around 1. No police or trouble. Good-sized crowd of neighbors, friends, and family. Lots of good food.
I was looking at my song list on Friday night, and was wishing you would make it out. But I knew it was a long drive, and the best part of the party is the late hours. We had 3 band guys stay overnight because they were too beered-out to drive. There'll be other opportunities, I'm sure. I'm still hoping to see Dew South at the M-89 one of these weekends when we're free.
I'll have pictures up by tonight some time, after a leisurely wrap-up / pack-up. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Whew! I finally got the pics up from our last couple non-Tricks gigs. Tricks Lite without Steve. It's just not the same. I hear Steve is getting swamped with business at the new store - hope he lives through it. Check out my pics from Krystal's Class Reunion where we played - they were only supposed to have the place until 10pm, but the guy who came to lock up joined in the fun, and we played almost until midnight. See my website... I also have fun pics from the annual party in Irons - a first for Dave and Debbie. Maybe next year we'll have Steve along for the little party in the woods. http://homepage.mac.com/rdoogie/TricksBand/Tricks2008mid.htmlAnd if you haven't seen the new Dick's Market, . . . http://homepage.mac.com/rdoogie/TricksBand...nstruction2008.htmlTomorrow night in Chicago - King Crimson. Doh!

Holy Cow!!! What a great time at the 4th celebration. I was very proud and honored to be knee deep in this Dorr tradition. Dorr does it right!!! Even though we had a couple of technical difficulties (us Bass players can't seem to get anything right) all in all things pretty much went off without a hitch.
We had a lot of folks liking the mainstream classic rock and a lot of folks that also enjoyed the "off-cuts". There were a bunch of people swayin' and boppin' to the likes of "Black Horse Cherry Tree", "Seasons of Wither", and Arrested For Drivin' While Blind".
I really hope that this will translate into even more avid Tricks followers. Krys, Steve and Rick were doing a great job of pumping the website which pretty much sells itself once you log on. I've been to a lot of band websites and most of them suck (no, I'm not sucking up to the webmaster, I already know I have the job for the forseeable future).
Thanks to everyone that showed up for the duration. There are a lot of people that show up in the photo section that were there for "Common Good" and "Tricks" that never left.
Here's to a wonderful 4th and a kicka$$ fireworks display!!!
Sincerely, Dave T. - - - BASSBEAST
