re: John Carter's post
You need to go back and learn some history. Vietnam had won its freedom from the French but the Northern half was governed by Communists. Communism as you may not know is not a free society but one of impose poverty and slavery. South Vietnam was free to elect its government but with the invasion by North Vietnam, that government dissolved into a strongman government. There was still more freedom than in the North.

We entered on the side of a free nation under assault by its Communist neighbor. Our redeployment in 1975 and abandonment of South Vietnam by a Democrat congress directly led to the fall of South Vietnam and the torture and deaths of hundreds of thousands Vietnamese, Cambodians, and Laotions. The susquent refugee disaster verified the rejection of communism by those who failed to embrace the communist form of slavery.

Bear these lessons in mind as a new Democrat congress prepares to repeat the same mistake. Only it will be worse.
